I agree with you on Pack.. you put him on a team with a good line and a few other offensive options and he is a superstar. Varney is the most versatile player in EKY, and he truly is good at every aspect he does. Channing Fugate is simply one of those rare backs that come along once in a blue moon.

Fugate is the man but Thomas Varney didn't impress you any tonight? 180+ yards on less than 15 carries running inside, outside, over, and around?

Actually this was the best story of the game. Letcher Central QB Charlie Banks is a SPECIAL, SPECIAL football player. He basically is their entire offense. He passes, he runs, he leads the team. Banks kicked a field goal early in the game and was later knocked out of the game with a concussion. Trailing 12-10 late in the game, Banks comes back on the field from his injury and kicks the game winning field goal. He also had a very big night on defense as well.

Oh no... I foresee alot of Highlands fans being re-directed on US 23 South instead of North and ending up in Tennesee. Highlands fans,,, read only the green and white signs that the State of KY puts up not, hand drawn sign telling you where to go! :eek:

JC does have a VERY, VERY good DB in Ian Welch. Him and Collinsworth are both about as good as you will find in the entire state.

I have a feeling the capacity of the Eagles' Nest will be doubled Friday night.

as always good post... Belfry is 5 TD's better than SC.... but with the way SC approaches playoff games and their style of ball, that 5 TD's can be erased quickly if Belfry brings anything less than their A-game.

If Belfry can survive Sheldon Clark, I know there is no toehr fanbase I would rather welcome back to CAM than Breathitt's. Without a doubt one of the best following's in the State bar none... good luck this week to both teams, but in particular Coach Holcomb's Bobcats!

CovCath fans will be a better judge on that. They played Belfry in the rain. It appeared they hwd more team speed than Belfry, but the Pirates won the LOS. Everyone this week was saying they didn't think JC had much speed based on what they saw on tape. Assuming they are slow will be a fatal flaw. They won't look like Bryan Station or Lou. Central, and won't be as fast as Highlands, but they are far from slow and their niche' has little to do with speed.

Breathitt's run defense has got to shore up in a hurry. Not only does Estill pose issues if they can't improve, but Belfry is altogether a completely different monster.

I predict an absolutely rediculous game in a raucous atmosphere!

Belfry will have to replace Elkins, Lee, and Dotson.. as well as Whetstone and Coleman. The Pirates will ahve their work cut out next year as well. Have faith in the Devils, now they have something to think of every day during the Summer and know what level they have to get back to.

Definately the headliner in EKY next week...possibly for the entire state.

Congrats to the Royals on the fine season and District Title! SC has a blueprint they sue in the postseason to pull upsets. Tonight they executed it perfectly! They eat clock and wear teams down, all the while building their confidence. Belfry is about 5 TD's better than SC, but as evident two years ago in the regular season meeting, if Belfry doesn't play focused ball next week and SC uses their blueprint then they could fall victim as well. SC has a very, very tough team and a Coach who takes vchances to pull the upsets. They have me worried.

Thanks for the kind words Ryan... all tonight means in the scope of the Belfry/Russell rivalry is that the next time these teams play Russell will be out for blood!:thumb:

They'll be back soon.. Belfry just has a buzzsaw this year that may not have the dominating backs like Howard and Jones, but they have a VERY, VERY good backfield... and much better QB play and defense than those championship teams. The key for Belfry now is FOCUS. I'd be lying if part of me didn't want to play Mason County so we could play against their speed and spread offense in case of future matchups down the road.

Belfry did any and everything they wanted tonight.

I'll be honest I'd rather see Mason County...not anything to do with matchups as Mason will be a tougher opponent..just want the MC fans to have a chance to visit Pond Creek for the first time. We like entertaining new guests. :thumb:
