  1. Either a true freshman or someone who couldn't beat out Cantwell at any point of this season.
  2. How much are dues to the Channing Fugate fan club? Just do us a favor... if for some reason Fugate does not dominate Belfry as you have predicted, just please don't place all the balme on him for the loss, since all the expectations for a win have been unfairly placed on his shoulders.
  3. It's State Semi-Finals Day in the Mountains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last year Mike Holcomb made IMO, the poorest decision of his illustrious career. He publicly stated for his team to "ignore the fullback" early in the game, and as a result Belfry ended up hanging 62 on the Bobcats. The fullback is the heartbeat of any Belfry team. The offense completely revolves around the success of the fullback on the belly read, or the strategy employed by the defense and their alignment to stop him. After last season's debacle Holcomb has publicly went on record talking about how they have been preparing for Belfry all season, so I have a feeling he will not be ignoring anyone this year. Instead, what I expect from Breathitt is to see 11 guys in the box, press coverage on the receivers, and every blitz and stunt that John Chapman knows to be thrown at the Pirates. I also expect to see specific assignments on every play for the fullback to be accounted for and put on the ground. Breathitt will also align the defense to take away the quick hitters on the veer and belly. Belfry's bread and butter tonight will have to come outside or on misdirection. If the Pirates can stretch the Bobcat's defense across the field efficiently, and maybe even mix in a couple passes to force the corners to honor the receivers and make safeties who will be walked up to stop the run have to play with a step of reluctance. If this occurs then Belfry, who has a decisive advantage in size/strength and depth on the O-line, will be able to wear adown a Breathitt team composed of mostly two way players. Offensively I expect to see some new wrinkles out of Breathitt. The Belfry DE's have to stay at home and the safeties cannot get sucked in on the play. Channing Fugate may be the best individual player in the mountains, but he does not worry me if he is asked to carry his team, what worries me is Channing Fugate running the ball when Belfry has to devote 5-6 players specifically to pass coverage and the Pirates are not able to gang tackle him. If Belfry can limit Breathitt's passing game with two CB's and two safeties, and can effectively rush Haddix, then I like the Pirates chances of disrupting Fugate in the backfield. Ultimately, what this game boils down to, is three things: 1. Who can win the first two seconds after the ball is hiked. If Breathitt is the team penetrating the backfield and forcing Belfyr to make rare mistakes and turnovers, the Bobcats can and will win this game. If Belfry is pressuring Haddix and keepign Fugate from getting a full head of steam then Belfry wins. 2. What tempo the game is played. If Breathitt dictates a tempo consistent with big plays and pass blocking, while forcing Belfry into quick posessions. Then fatigue will have no effect. If Belfry can grind out long drives, and force Breathitt to have to drive the ball on offense instead of scoring quick. Then Belfry's size and depth advantages will play a major role by the end of the game. 3.Who surprises the other the most. Breathitt has tricks up it's sleeve, but also the Bobcats find it inconceivable that Belfry could shut down Fugate. Additionally, Belfry has a lot more plays up their sleeve then they have been forced to show, and Befry fans do not feel Breathitt can overpower their line at shutting down their running game before it starts. Whoever surprises the other will control this game. Prediction: Very close, back and forth game for a half.... Belfry starts to win the LOS in the second half, then in the 4th Quarter the Pirates put it away. Belfry 34 Breathitt 20
  4. Around 3000+ all purpose yards 35 Total TD Over 10 yards per carry average He had 1700+ rushing, 600+ receiving, 35 Total TD's as a Sophomore. He should finish his career around 8500 All Purpose Yards and over 100 career TD's. His competition has not necessarily been "weak" either as Breathitt has faced some quality teams.
  5. On Matney's Radio show this week he remarked how Paintsville had notified JC they will not be signing the contract to renew the series between the two cross-town rivals. The Bowl has been played every year for the past 34 years, and for the better part of that span was ne of the most competitive and heated rivalries in the state of Kentucky. JC has dominated the series in recent years since Matney arrived. Paintsville holds a lead in the all-time series, and the word is that the powers to be at Paintsville has chosen to end the series where it is now so they can preserve that advantage.
  6. If Florida wins a National Title or if he repeats as the Heisman Winner, Tim Tebow has got to be at the top of this list.
  7. Fugate will not be able to do it on his own... this isn't Estill County's run defense he is facing Friday. It will take everyone on breathitt's team playing at a high level to beat Belfry.
  8. It will take a few more players than Fugate to win Friday.... if Breathitt does not have a passing game Fugate does not gain 100 yards rushing.
  9. From what I gather it is the Liberty Bowl....

  12. With all due respect to Ricky Bowling, who is a fantastic player, but I don't think there is any chance that Mr. Football should come from a 4-7 team (with wins over teams that went a combined 11-32) who was shutout in the first round of the playoffs.
  13. Agreed..last year I think Belfry was 3-4 TD's better..this year I think that gap is more or less 2-3 TD's. There is a huge difference in 3-4TD's and 2-3TD's... last year Belfry had room for error, this year I don't think they have that same cushion. And don't even get me started on next year with what this young Bobcat team has coming back becase frankly I prefer not to think about it.
  14. Something that surprised me last year when I saw Breathitt was how down their numbers were. It seemed like only a few years ago the Bobcats were dressing 60+ players..but last year they only appeared to have a handful over 30-35. I know numbers are down everywhere, but this really surrised me considering the success Breathitt's program ahs sustained for so long. I also felt like it really hindered the Bobcats against Belfry because the lack of depth up front was apparent, and Holcomb seemed very reluctant to sub out. As a result, Belfry just grided them down by late in the game (I think it was fairly evident that the final score didn't really reflect how the game would turn out if they played ten times for the record).
  15. I do think oneijoe calling you out was a bit of encroachment though.
  16. How about some type of cage that attaches at the top of each upright. It extends back parallel with the ground for about 2 feet. It then right angles up, and runs about ten feet high. Another plane parallel with the ground then comes out and back over to where it is directly aligned with the top of each upright. It would like like a 3-D "C".. the issue now would be kicks from an angle that cut across the planes...maybe enclosing the net would work?
  17. I honestly don't think one missed field goal will cost this kid his future... plus Merrick from Bell has the 1st team spot locked up..I think he has room for a few misses without being judged too harshly.
  18. If my company can corner the market on this...then YES!!!!!!!!!! If we put LED's on the crossbar pointing up... and on the upright's pointing in...then you will easily get enough light within the twp uprights.. the issue comes for kicks above the top of the uprights. LED's will really stuggle past about 15',,, so we may need to put like some type of HID lamp as well, or wait for LED technology to catch up.
  19. It's settled then... for the most fairness we will play the enxt game at CAM as well...
  20. Instead of lasers, use colored LED's. The light would dissipate quickly keeping the FAA off everyone's backs, and the teams could customize the LED's color to match their shool's colors. Plus LED's are low voltage and very space efficient making them not only an economical optional, but an energy efficient one as well.
  21. So is the conspiracy theory that everyone is out to get Highlands... so let's drop them both :thumb:
