I agree that defense is going to play a big part in this game as it does in every game. But you really can't compare what you think McCreary will do against Knox Co with how they did against leslie or even Williamsburg. Both of those teams had great success throwing the ball and a lot less running the ball. We all know that McCreary is known to be a run stopping defense and has never defended the pass well. We also know that Knox Central is going to line it up and run it down your throat. That type of offense is and was very effective against leslie Co (even for the Raiders) but IMO the Raiders will be able to defend against the power run iffense that Knox will bring to the game which will make the game a lot close than people are expecting. I think it can go either way: Raiders 22 / Knox 22 give or take a point for either team and the one who makes the fewest mistakes on Offense or does the best job with special teams will win this game!

McCreary could very easily be 3-0 right now if they could tackle. If they find some defense this week do they have a chance against Knox Co? I think the Raider offense will move the ball and put ponts on the board and I hope they work hard on tackling this week! Mccreary 22 Knox Co 20

I can tell you for a fact that the Raiders have a kicker that hit 9 out of 10 in practice and went 2 for 2 during their preseason scrimmages. It is the decision of the coaching staff to go for 2 each time. Right or wrong that is the they have played it so far. i will agree that W-burg game may have been different if the Raiders would have kicked PAT's not so sure about the game against Leslie Co. However, the biggest problem the Raiders have is missed tackles, if they make tackles they win both games by at least 3 TD's. I hope they work hard in the tackling department this week!

This was a lot closer than I thought it would be. Is knox that good or did bell have an off night? Wish I could have been there to see the game, by the score it looks like Knox played bell very tough!

I have seen both teams play and I don't think Clinton Co will have an answer on either side of the ball. I say W-burg will win 48-12.

I think Roskopf will be to much for Campbellsville. I watched them play against Frankfort and Bridgeater did not play up to his billing! He ran the ball very soft and wasn't very aggressive on defense. This may have just been a bad night for him but I was expecting a whole lot more! This should be interesting. The Raiders score 54 last week byt giave up 58 to an offense similar to Leslie Co. With that being said I think the Raiders will rebound this week to win by 14.

You are correct about mental mistakes and McCreary made to many of them on Friday night. If they want this to be their first ever appearance in the playoffs they will have to get mentally tough and play together as a team. I am positive the Raiders can do just that but it will be up to them to prove it!

The Raiders had one more TD in this game than the Jackests did. However, the raiders were unable to convert the the 2 point play 6 times which = the difference in a win and loss. Both defenses struggle as is eve ident by the score. This was a hard one to lose for the Raiders and we will tell what kind of team they have next Friday when we see if they can regain their composure and defeat Leslie Co. I would have to say that the Raiders have a very good chance at a winning season and maybe even their first ever playoff appearence. This was a hard fought game on both sides and I wish both teams the best of luck with the rest of the season.

Yes Watts is playing. He loves football and would play at the next level if he gets a good offer! he is truly a talented athlete!

I agree with you pepper II, if McCreary has any shot to even stay close to the teams in their district they need to be able to put the Jackets away. I know that McCreary is young but they have some talent. So, it could very well be a very interesting game. I think the jackets will have a hard time stopping the skill positions of the Raiders. However, I am not convenced that the Raiders can stop the Jacket passing game. Like I said before this could be whoever has the ball last or who makes one more stop than the other. Oh well, then again someone could get bown out! The Raiders definately have the capability to play amazing ball and someone said today that the Raiders beat LCA at passing camp, twice! Now, I know a regular game is much different but that just shows you that the Raiders have some talented kids. I think it will be a game worth watching in the Burg!

Mccreary beat a 2nd year team in Clinton co. 22-14. W-Burg got drilled by a very, very good LCA team. Both McCreary and W-Burg has a relatively young team and some very talented players. With that being said, what is everyone's prediction for their match-up this Friday night? I will start: I think they both will have a chance to move the ball as both of them moved it well in their respective games this past Friday. So, i think whoever does the best job of making adjustments on defense and whoever's playes executes those adjustments will win the game. i think it will be very close with a lot of points such as 42 - 44 anyones ballgame and maybe the team that has the ball last! IMHO!

I agree, I have talked with several coaches this summer and they all say the same thing: we will be pretty good if we don't have ant injuries. Good luck to mayfield and beachwood alon with the rest of 1-A. I just can't wait for 8/24/07 and the sound of pads colliding.

Sorry to here about Jr. I wish him the best of luck. My so is 9yrs old and starts his football carrer this year. I never had a serious injury in all my years of football and I hope for the same with my son.

I have always said that I would rather be lucky than good(at least in my golf game).

McCreary County actually had a girl who played football. She played 7th and 8th grade ball and was an excellent player. Averaged 4 yards a carry as a fullback and played D-tackle. She actually hit a kid in practice so hard during a drill that his helmet popped-off. She played through her sophmore year then called it quits. She did OK at the JV level but she was smart enough to realize that the boys were getting much stronger at a faster rate. I don't have a problem with girls playing high school football as long as they realize when they put on that helmet they are just another football player.

Come-on guys! I know there are enough Rockcastle, Bell, Madison Southern and Knox Central fans out there that has opinions, this thread should be full of comments. Also, there are other fans from the other districts that have opinions about those districts....such as..... can Marion County make a run at a district title in district 4-4 under head coach Jeff Robbins? He is a good coach and has done a great job at Marion. Can East Jessamine find a way to beat Boyle County this year in District 4-6? If not why? Who are the possible upset makers? These are the kind of things I would like to here opinions about. I hope everyone is ready to give their opinions, I will be waiting! :banana:

I believe that teams are aloud to start wearing helmets on July 15th. They can actually start practicing the day after school is out for the year, they just can't wear any equipment (I think this is considered unofficial practice and it is not suppose to be manditory). I think July 23rd maybe the first day for contact. If any of this is not correct then someone please help me out.

Great field, high school football has come a long way in KY and is still getting better every year.

I agree with you Pepper II, this is a nice overview of the 4-7 district.

I would be interested in hearing everyones thoughts on who could possibly be a team that could pull off an upset in their 4-A district. For example, in district 4-7 can a very much improved Knox Central pull off an upset against Bell Co. or Rockcastle. Can a team that has improved in non-district play, like McCreary Central, come into a strong district like 4-7 and upset Knox Central or Madison Sothern and make it to the playoffs? I think there will be interesting questions like this throughout the 4-A class.

I think this is exactly why athletes should play more than one sport and why football is the sport that gives are athletes better opportunities to advance to the next level. It is hard to advance in the hoops world if you are 6 foot, give or take a few inches. You just don't see shorter athletes playing D-1 B-ball let alone NBA. However, there are athletes that are vertically challenged that move on to play D-1 football every year. I have seen many athletes over the last 21 years that could have played D-1 football but they decided to put all their eggs in one basket(literally). I mean playing B-ball 12 months a year and still didn't get any interest from D-1 schools because they were only 6'1" or 6'2". So, (dubbbledribbble) I think you hit it right on the head, there are way more opportunities to advance playing football than there are playing basketball and KY. high school b-ball coaches should explain that to their players and encourage them to play football so they will have a better chance to advance to the next level. Common sense tells us that it is way better for our athletes to play multiple sports and it is that same common sense that tells us it is only the self-centered coaches (know matter what sport they coach) that try to keep athletes from playing a sport different from the one they coach. As coaches we should all do what is best for our athletes not ourselves. Coach Crews and any other coach that thinks like he does needs to re-evaluate their motives for coaching or at the very least re-evaluate their thought process. IMO.

I agree with you as well. That's the problem, we have to many coaches, teachers and administrators for that matter who make all their decisions based on what is best for themselves and not the kids. Face it, to be self-serving is human nature and at one time I would have to say I fell in that catagory as well. However, when you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and come to realize the magnitude of his selfless act for the salvation of all man-kind it really puts how you veiw what is important in life into perspective. I will continue to pray that the people in the positions I named earlier will find a way to put their players/students first. I believe in my heart that kids coming from programs and school systems that make sure their players/students needs are met and put the kids needs first over their own on a regular basis produce positve and productive adults and those communities thrive. I know that their are many coaches in Ky. that are Christians and who show it through the way they deal with their kids everyday. I will continue to hope and pray that as all of you continue to set positive examples through the way you deal with kids, this will become more and more our "real world".
