Were you at the same game. They had two scores in the first half. Once on a 70 yard slant pattern. on the second drive it was a 50 plus yard run by Watts .Any time they had to drive they would self implode, thats why I said they were unable to drive the ball. Williamsburg was missing Cody perkins starting defensive end, and one of their starting linebackers. As far as Allen Central goes I do not know, I know Williamsburg is trying very hard to work out a game with Corbin. I can't even rember the last time Mcreary has beatin the jackets. I would say it has to be less than once every 10 to 15 years. I would say the Jackets need to find a tougher annual game. I have heard Corbin or Oneida. I never said they didn't have big plays...........anyway Mc has never beaten W-burg at the Varsity level as far as I know. At half time MC was averaging right at 10tards a touch and W-burg was averaging 4yards so you better be glad that MC imploded or it could have gotten ugly for The Burg. As for W-burg scheduling tougher games.............I already said I was through with that topic until next years schedule comes out!

Just because a team is 1 A dosen't make them weak competition. If that was the case why does 4A Boyle Co and 5A Sothwestern play Danvile every year and many times they lose? I also notice that you do not have W-burg listed with those schools. Lynn Camp is a quality team who competes well year in and year out with higher level schools, same for Wayne Co. and Scvott Co is a TN 3A school which is equivillent to a KY 5A school. Plus MC plays in the toughest 4A district in the state. When you are still trying to get to the highest level it would be suicide for your program to schedule 10 games where you have very little chance of winning, that just doesn't make good sense. You try to schedule a game or two where you are favored and a few that could go either way, one that you are not favoerd and then play your district which in MC's siuation would be 4 more that you are not favored in. Your program has to have success or it will not grow. Success = numbers and numbers = growth and growth along with good coaching = greater success. It is true that if you throw in an athlete like Watts it makes it easier to start that process but the process continues once he leaves as long as you keep the equation going!

First off, Watts is not a 1 man team and the Raiders will continue to to improve and get stronger for many years after he is gone. Every program gets a dominant athlete from time to time and thats great but they move on when that athlete is gone and McCreary will do the same. MC has a great youth program and the middle school program has been competing at the same level as everyone else's so MC has many fine young athletes to continue the growth of the program! As for the Jackets fearing the Raiders, well, I was once told by a group of W-burg faithfulls (the group included some W-burg staff members) that the Jackets (when it came to football) would rather get beat 100 points by Corbin than lose by 1 point to McCreary. Taking that statement into consideration I think that W-burg is just chosing not to take a chance on getting beat by next years MC team and that is not the sameting as being scared by no means. I just think they want to say that MC has never beat them. I think in a couple of years when W-burg has re-loaded they will try to put MC back on the schedule but I don't think they will be able to because of their not scheduling now. So, in my opinion this longtime rivalry is over and I want everyone to remember that it was the Jackets doing not MC's

I guess that's the way it goes. I think the biggest problem I have with it is W-burg being such a close game to play and it is a great rivalry game that dates back many years. Good luck to the Jackets!

All I can say is this: if W-burgs schedule is more difficult next year I will say OK they thought they could find a harder opponent. However, me knowing for a 100% fact that Coach Herron and the W-burg AD was contacted many times about re-scheduling and they never even responded at all. Why not just tell the Mccreary staff hey we have decided to go a different way next year. That would have been the descent thing to do. The way W-burg's staff handled the situation makes everyone think that they are ducking and dodging, Don't bring me a mule and try to sell me a horse. The good Lord give me a brain and plenty of common sense and most of the times things are just as they seem to be. But like I said, I will not mention this again until I see the Jackets 2009 schedule and if they have a tougher non-district schedule I will definately admit that I was wrong and apologize. I hope the same thing is true for those of you who criticize me because I have this opinion. Remember, as the old saying goes everyone has an opinion it doesn't make them right or wrong it just makes them theirs.

Us at McCreary can definately relate. Is KC's head B-ball coach their AD? Just curious!

I know McCreary has added Lynn Camp, Wayne Co, and Scott Co TN. to their schedule and as I said earlier, wanted to keep W-burg on the schedule again for week 2 and tried to get Onieda on the schedule as well just for that reason (economics).

My opinion is: W-burg is losing most of their stud lineman, QB and receivers and will begin a rebuilding process in 09. MC returns all of their skilled players, including Watts and Roark and lose 3 starting lineman and only 3 starting "D" players. I think the Jackets see the writing on the wall and don't care to play MC in a year that would most likely see them on the other end of things. Again, that is just my opinion and I though MC would win this game so obviously I am wrong sometimes!:sssh:

The Jackets missing "D" players, seems like I heard that last year. The Raiders had almost 300 yards of offense in the first half and trailed the Jackets so that ruins the big play theory because obviously they moved the ball without scoring. After saying that, MC had a couple of big plays but that is what happens when you get 3 yards here 8 yards there, then bang you get a 65 or 40 yard score. That is a sign of a good offense. Oh wait, that is exactly how the Jackets did it a couple of times in this game, good job W-burg "O". I was told that W-burg was trying to pick up Allen Central I think............anyway it was a huge step down from MC. I guess we can see who is on the schedule next year and then we can talk about a stronger or weaker schedule. I want to say to the W-burg "O" line, great job you were the key in this game for your team and you should be proud. Gongrats to the Jackets and good luck with the rest of your season.

His name is Zack Roark and him and Watts make a good 1-2 punch and they are both just Jr's. #1 who caught the slant pass for a 92 yard TD is Dustin Goins he is just a Soph. he also had a great game in week one. I am just beside myself that W-burg wouldn't renew the contract for the next 2 years because this has been an exciting match up over the last 2 years. I would have love to see this game kept being played. I just don't understand it!:confused:

This was a back and forth ball game until a fumble by Mccreary in the fourth quarter and W-burg capitalized on it and took a 2 TD lead and that just seemed to take the wind out of Mccreary's sails. My hats are off to both ball clubs they both seem to be much better teams. Congrats to W-burg they played hard and they played to win. Good luck to both of these teams with the rest of their seasons.

A friend of mine in the W-burg school system said this is no longer a bowl game. However, they do still consider it the Alumni Game! I can't wait to watch this one, I hope it is as good as last years game. Good luck to everyone and may God keep those young boys safe.

We have been there atleast 5 years in a row, they always give us a nice check but it is never a bowl game. I think they just get car sick if they have to go over the mountain. Ha Ha! I hope it is a bowl this year since this will be the last year in a long running rivalry!:cry:

This has not been a bowl game for the past several years. It was suppose to be that is why MC goes there every year, but for some reason after Black left they quit having it as a bowl game, it is just a regular game.

McCreary has a soph. tackle that is 6'4" 310 and very athletic and strong and a Sr. tackle who is 6'1" 250 who has the biggest calves I have ever seen (he's a beast). The rest of the line isn't to shabby either. So, I don't see W-burg man-handleing MC. However, they may out-ahletic them with their skill people. The key for W-burg will be to out score MC. The winner of this game will be the one who gets the most stops on "D" just like it is every week that W-burg plays. I don't think anyone really ever expects to shut down W-burg they just try to hold them under 40 and score over 40. Good luck to both teams, may God watch over their players so they can have a fun filled, and injury free game.

I agree, LC has several athletes and fly to the ball on "D". It would help if they had everyone healthy and they have to keep their heads if they get down a score or two. If they can do that they are definately athletic enough to make things happen late in the game to put themselves in a good position to have a chance to win.

They would definately have to go to a different game plan and their offense would turn into a ball control type offense but Roark is a very good athlete as well and he could carry the load if he had to. Watts only played "D" half the time Friday and it made absolutely no difference. I think MC had 5 or 6 int's and Watts didn't have any. So, it would be a diffent looking "O" and definately not as potent but I still think it could be very effective. Now, with that said I just knocked on every piece of wood in my house because I hope we never have to find out!

I was at Wal-marts in W-burg today and a friend told me that a player got injured Friday night and another got ejected. Can anyone tell me who these two players are? That is if it doesn't bother you to have a MC fan know!:sssh:
