  1. KHSAA scoreboard is correct. McLean loses when they missed their two point conversion in overtime and Union County was able to make theirs. Very exciting game despite the first half that had McLean go into the locker room 6-0 in the lead.
  2. Two games in my short history in Kentucky: 2002 - Oldham Co. @ Eastern -- The year Joe Prince was coaching and Myron Pryor was playing offensive tackle. The field was already wet, but during the game, we had rain flying sideways. We had to delay to game due to a tornado warning. Then we finished the game on a field that was mud ankle deep. Eastern won on a fumble that they converted into a touchdown. This game was the highlight of a very rainy football season. 2006 - Metcalfe Co. @ McLean Co. -- The wind was blowing between 25 - 30 mph the whole night and it rained all day and all game. McLean wins on a block punt that was converted into a touchdown and a kicked point after that was the difference in a 7-6 win over then #9 Metcalfe Co. Unfortunately the next week, McLean didn't show up to play and got beat at Metcalfe on a very cold night 40-6 in the first round of the playoffs.
  3. 1st senario -- Ball goes to the offense where it was recovered, first down Alternate #1 - Ball goes to the offense where it was recovered, first down Alternate #2 - If I have read this right the ball went back behind the first down line. In that case, the ball is recovered by the offense, but it would be first down defense due to not getting the yardage on the first down. You would count the ball where it was recovered, not where it was fumbled from.
  4. The corner of the end zone nearest the concession stand and hill is raised higher than the rest of the end zone. It will be the corner closest to the stands on the right. Russellville is a great place to play as long as you aren't the opponent. All fans sit in one set of stands on the home side of the field. Ads will have to be careful leaving the visitors locker room for the field. Very tricky stairs... Ads also be aware that there is a quick drop off behind your bench.
  5. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Tilghman team and to the player's family and friends....
  6. I understand your point given the history of Tilghman. And teams can improve under the right coaches. I would suspect that if you looked at Tilghman's football history that there were points when they were not very good. As with all things, time will tell.
  7. Considering that McLean has not had a long history at football that would be difficult. If you are comparing teams since the Mid-seventies, I am not sure which would match up and which would not. McLean has just started this series with Tilghman and I am willing to wait and see how it turns out. If Tilghman wins every year, than I guess you prove your point, but that is a long time to wait.
  8. As has also been stated in other threads about Tilghman is that their losses have come against tough competition. I presume if you play tough competition then you improve. I would also say that if McLean wants to be able to beat the best in the state, then they have to play tough competition in order to improve. McLean will take it's lumps and will learn from it.
  9. Yes, McLean asked to move up and they got beat. As far as the state title thing goes, I think there are some teams in the Eastern part of the state that might have something to say about that. And we will wait and see if this will be a "year in and year out" win for Tilghman.....
  10. Congrats to Tilghman on the win. They have a lot of speed which makes them difficult to defend. McLean did not play up to there potential and that added to the score. Mistakes and allowing big plays led to the final. Needless to say, to win the district, teams will have to go through Tilghman which will be very difficult. I agree with CardinalVoice that Tilghman is very one dimensional. Though they scored on passes, I don't think Tilghman could win a game passing the ball if the running game outside were shut down.
  11. McLean moved up to 3A for travel reasons.
  12. Most people believe that it is a forgone conclusion that Tilghman will win their district handily. They have destroyed Webster County and had a tight ball game with Union County, but still won. Their non-district schdule has been difficult. And last week, they lost to major rival Mayfield, 16-6. Will Tilghman beat McLean as badly as they did Webster County? McLean is coming off a stinging loss to Grayson County 34-16. Can McLean keep up with the speed of Tilghman? Can McLean regain focus and beat perennial powerhouse Tilghman? Thoughts and predictions?
  13. 1. Mayfield 2. Trigg Co. 3. Fort Campbell 4. Owensboro Catholic 5. Russellville 6. Metcalfe Co. 7. Paducah Tilghman 8. Fulton City 9. Caldwell Co. 10. McLean Co.
  14. 1. Mayfield 2. Trigg Co. 3. Owensboro Catholic 4. Ft. Campbell 5. Metcalfe Co. 6. Russellville 7. Paducah Tilghman 8. Glasgow 9. Caldwell Co. 10. McLean Co.
  15. Tilghman tried to get outside on Union County. They did try to pass. It was all play action out of their normal offensive sets. Union County had a really great defensive tackle that was all over the field. With the exceptions of the two early scores against Union, the game became a slug fest between the five yard lines. Both teams looked very tired in the Third quarter. Mayfield -Tilghman could be a good game.
  16. 1. Mayfield 2. Trigg Co. 3. Ft. Campbell 4. Owensboro Catholic 5. Paducah Tilghman 6. Russellville 7. Glasgow 8. Metcalfe Co. 9. Fulton City 10. McLean Co.
  17. 1. Mayfield 2. Trigg Co. 3. Paducah Tilghman 4. Ft. Campbell 5. Owensboro Catholic 6. Metcalfe 7. Russelville 8. Fulton City 9. Glasgow 10. McLean County
  18. Will Rollins return give Webster County the weapon it needs to win this week? Webster County has a big line and good passing attack. The defense had a tough time with the speed of Paducah Tilghman. The defense did show that it can play in the win versus Reidland.
  19. McLean County comes off their third straight win and first district win. Will Webster catch McLean sleeping? Webster has a good quarterback and decent backfield. Will Webster win their first district contest? Thoughts and predictions.....
  20. 1. Trigg County 2. Mayfield 3. Paducah Tilghman 4. Owensboro Catholic 5. Metcalfe Co. 6. Fort Campbell 7. Russellville 8. Glasgow 9. Fulton City 10. McLean Co.
  21. First district game for both teams. McLean is coming in 2-0 off a tough road win at Murray. Will McLean be over-confident this week? McLean will be at home for this game against neighboring Muhlenberg South. South is 1-1 with a win over cross town foe Muhlenberg North and a loss to Logan County. Any thoughts or predictions for this game?
  22. McLean scored first in the second quarter on a seventy yard fumble recovery to take the lead 6-0. Later in the second quarter, McLean drove the ball done and scored from 5 yards out to make the score 12-0. Murray scored their first points late in the second quarter on a five yard run by King to make the score at half 12-7 McLean. McLean got some big plays in the third quarter that put them close to the goal where they ran it in from the three. Score in the third quarter was McLean 19, Murray 7. Murray's King would score in the fourth quarter from ten yards out to make the score 19-13 McLean. Murray would threaten late but costly penalties and some good stops by McLean's defense would get the ball back to McLean. McLean would run out the last 3+ minutes of the game and end the game on the Murray two yard line where they kneed out the game. Murray had big yards in between the twenties, but the McLean defense and Murray miscues stopped Murray drives. McLean found their stride late in the fourth quarter as they put together a long drive late. Murray has lots of speed and ability. If they reduce the amount of errors and penalties they will give their opponents this year fits. Very tough squad.
  23. This game looks to be a good measuring stick for how the Cougars will fair this season. Murray has been a perenial(sp.?) power with good speed and size. Playing on their homefield, they will be definitely tough to beat.
  24. 1. Trigg County 2. Mayfield 3. Paducah Tilghman 4. Fort Campbell 5. Russellville 6. Owensboro Catholic 7. Murray 8. Caldwell Co. 9. McLean Co. 10. Fulton City
  25. The last three years, McLean has lost its opener to Todd County. That is the "monkey" I was refering to.
