  1. You are kidding right? Rumor also has it that some of the boys were seen out with this player last night. They are supportive of him. These boys are friends on and off the court.
  2. True, this is one of the worst seasons GC basketball has seen. Getting beat by 30 or 40 points is just not acceptable. Get out of the kitchen if it is too hot! Confirmed, about the dismissal of the high point man. Any more news on that smooth move. Did anyone notice how many Greenup County Alumni were on Racelands bench. (3 of the 5)
  3. Watched the game on a local channel in Lexington and was not a bit impressed with either team. Both will need to improve if they want any life come tournament time.
  4. Third, forth or fifth it, still doesn't change the fact that he gives no respect to the opponent.
  5. Couldn't tell that by his comments
  6. Class act by the father of the HC qb's dad as he came over and gave cudos to the GC qb No class goes to the HC head coach who basically said he had no idea how they won the game and did not say anything about the effort of the GC players If karma works, woe is HC when Catholic comes to the hill
  7. "Very closely accociated" or not, the person is still a fan and the ref was wrong
  8. Correct the was in the endzone and the actual comment to the official was that the plane was broken, with that and only that the flag was thrown. How it was against GC is beyond me as it was a fan and who is to say where the fan is from (Ashland, East Carter, etc.). IMO the ref's could have talked this over, waved off the penalty and given GC the ball at the 6" line with the first down. None the less, I am glad GC won as they made the 3 hour drive worth it.
  9. Congrats to GC on their win! Keep it going!
  10. didn't see a "live" feed there
  11. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas
  12. Come on people, I mean really the ref crew may have bee awful but for LC it comes down to one thing DISCIPLINE. The player was ejected for punching a GC player 4 time (not just pushing him) and then removing his helmet while on the field of play. Even if he was punched you have to have DISCIPLINE and not to retaliate. As for the number of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, I’ll give the coaches 1 to make their point but after that just shut your mouth. The ref’s warn you and when you keep on jawin’ in their ear, no matter who you are, the flags will come a flyin’. The DISCIPLINE here is not only required by the head coach but also the asst coaches, whom I believe received the bulk of the sideline infractions. Now this lack of sideline DISCIPLINE, apparently spilled over to the players as their comments to the officiating crew drew a few unsportsmanlike flags also. So if we go back and erase these penalties who wins . . .
  13. Yeah, Greenup will win this in a hard fought battle.
  14. Apparently the sarcasm of my post was lost in translation or no one cared to read the second line. I was not suggesting anything about the future of the coaching staff, I was simply pointing out that the original post was a fine place for the others to begin calling for a regime change. Not only does this thread continue to add more negativity to the team, it backs up the number of comments on BGP that GC is no place to coach. MAN-ning go back and check Brooks record prior to the '06 season. Old Warrior, if negativity breeds negativity then why start the thread and mention the record. Instead post positive, as you do with the freshman team and who know maybe something positive will happen.
  15. Let's go back and rename this thread correctly "FIRE COACH SAMMONS". In fact, we could take a hint from UK fans and start a website (i.e. firetubby.com and firerichbrooks.com). While the above comment is somewhat tounge and cheek, this is the exact reason coaches shy away from applying at Greenup County. End the thread before any further negative comments can be posted.
  16. No idea, traveling up north and this was the first I have heard he was hurt. Hate to hear about another GC loss but even worse to hear about another GC injury. If this sidelines him, woe is GC in the confines of PUTNAM STADIUM.
  17. I guess everyone has their opinion, so her is another one. I think that the division of the upper and lower end of the county is more of a parent "thing", that can't be let go. The kids don't care where their friends are from, until they hear their parents talk of the past and the rivals between the two schools. Next, Lloyd was a good choice for the school. Right in the middle. Also, Lloyd is a growing community and from what I have observed and heard, an excellent one to raise a family. Why do you think there are so many houses being built in that area? Candy Berry, what can anyone say. She is an excellent leader. What she says goes, and it should because she is the coach. She has always been respected and has earned that respect. Maybe she needs to have classes on how to be a good coach? Finally, I do agree that schools are needed "out in the county". Many of the kids who live farther out do not have a chance to begin the feeder programs, or feel they are not comparable to the other kids. You have to give Greenup County some credit. They are dealing with a lot of kids and adults from many different socioeconomic backgrounds. More so than Raceland or Russell. This is difficult in itself.
  18. Lots of things look good in practice, but nothing beats how you perform at game speed. Things change and change quick and if you do not continue to preform, you fail. Now too your iceberg comment, as I am sure you know only 1/8 of an iceberg's size is above water and that would leave 7/8 below water thereby ginving you far more knowledge of the GC system. From this information I can only assume that you are either 1) a coach or 2) a parent. Now, I know you are not a coach due to apparent disgust with the "lies" sold to you about the offense. That leaves you being a parent and a noisy one at that, given you are at "practice all the time". As individuals such as yourself prompted my move to greener pastures for my child, my advice to you is to mind your business and allow the coach to do his job. If he fails, he'll be gone, if not move your kid (alot do).
  19. Old Warrior, apparently we do disagree on the game and while you seem to throw all your comments at the QB (while off hand stating that none of the comment are directed at players) let's all just step back and analyze the GC offense. It is a pass oriented offense (90% +) and in being so certain things have to occur inorder for it to be successful. First, the line has to PASS block, possibly the easiest block for a lineman to perform. This occurs about 50 percent of the time and can be verified in review of game film where one can see "roll blocks" being performed and the D lineman going straight thru resulting the the QB running for his life. This inability to PASS block (the easiest) would also suggest that Greenup would be even far less successful in performing RUN blocks were they to switch to a more traditional offense. Second, the Receivers HAVE to run their routes and catch the ball if it hits them in the hands. If the route is run incorrectly, then things fall apart quickly as the QB is looking for an area, the receiver is not there, so he must improvise given he has time from blocking (see above). Again, review of tape and knowledge of the required route will give evidence of the missed routes as well as the numerous passes that go right thru the receivers hands (this was the case in 1 if not 2 of the South Point interceptions). Third, the QB has to deliver the ball. The biggest problem I see here is (as mentioned in a previous post) the QB's decision to leave the pocket too quickly. Even if the pocket is collapsing he needs to step up thereby buying himself 1 if not 2 more seconds. Now if he has to scramble the loss should minimzed by running forward and sliding as opposed to the cross field scramble I have seen him do on several occasions often resulting in large losses (that is were I sould say your .9 yds/rush stat results from). Fourth, play calling HAS to be appropriate for the situation. Case in point, you do not run a flag route on a third and one play. You run a short route, an end around, QB keeper, Jerry Caliborne Off Tackle, anything but a 30 yard down field pass. And speaking of that play, take it out of the book. Greenup does not have a tall receiver to increase the odds of this play working and in so have cost themselves as 2 interceptions this year have occurred on that very play. The receiver was simply to small for the D-back and just had it taken out of their hands. I could continue and talk about the Swiss cheese Louisville looking defense but this should be enough for you to absorb for the time being. Unless the items addresed above improve my prediction for the game; GC - 17 RC - 28
  20. Certain plays are called, maybe 2 or 3. The quarter back needs time to read the field and make the play. Maybe that is why Craft is not seeing the "hands waving". I don't know what game you were at, but I did not see that great of line blocking on the offense. As far as the comment on "It was the coaches decision", IT IS. That is why he is the coach. Kids and parents today have no respect for others. If the coach told a player to do it, then he should. Too many kids listen to others outside the game instead of the coach. Of course everyone wants to win, but that does not call for rude and disrespectful comments or actions.
  21. Greenup has trouble with the players as much as the personnel, or is it the parents? The boys do not seem to be working together as a team. Again, complain about something and you get your way. The Craft kid doesn't have a chance, seems he is not getting any help from the defense. Nobody could make a good pass with only 1 second to get rid of the ball. Coaches need to be like they used to be, if the kids don't want to play, put them on the road, and if you quit, then don't come back. Also, at the game Friday night I have never witnessed such rude adults from the "so called" Greeunp County fans.
  22. You didn't see him the second half due to his apparent back talk with a couple of the coaches. Maybe this is the same issue Hart had?
  23. There is turmoil in all schools, it's just that some schools seem to have ways of keeping it quiet. If something bad happens at Greenup, you can bet it will be on the front page. If something good happens, which it does, it MIGHT be on the last page.
  24. What turmoil are you talking about? GCHS football has none as far as I know. As far as Craft being lame, I guess that is just your opionion. GC cheerleaders and band are awesome. So I guess 2 out of 3 ain't bad, huh!
  25. I also know for a fact that some of the area coaches did not vote. Maybe Paintsville did. Do you know for a fact that the other coaches voted. Wasn't this turned over to Boyd County because the sports editor went to Ironton?
