  1. That is correct. Coke will be the ISC exclusive sponsor next year(not sure how many years that contract is for), but it still wouldn't surprise me for Mountain Dew to become a primary sponsor again after being absent for so long. Mountain Dew is a popular drink with both the young & the old Nascar fans, and I'm sure Pepsico would like to increase those sales, so what better avenue to do that with? And with sponsorship now well into double-digit millions for the top teams, this one is sure to become the top sponsorship deal to date when it's announced(although it may be tough to find out exactly how much since neither Pepsi nor Hendrick will want it known!)! :sssh:
  2. I believe they're negotiating to try to keep the #8 for Jr.
  3. Hendrick had sponsors in place already and probably found out they couldn't make a place for Bud. It sounds like Bud would have been able to go with Jr., since they're talking to others about sponsorship. But when Jr. first announced his decision to leave, it was reported that Bud still had a year remaining on their contract with DEI. So next year must have been an option year and, since Jr. was leaving, it must have given them a reason to look at other opportunities & drivers.
  4. Strange, though, that when asked what his plans were for when he left the track(since they're off next weekend), he said he was going home to sit on his front porch and drink beer. He didn't say Bud, so it made me wonder if he intended to let the folks at Anheuser Busch know he wasn't happy with them for some reason.
  5. And Mountain Dew is a PepsiCo product, so we just may see that car on the circuit again full-time next year. It's been a number of years since Mountain Dew was a primary sponsor for a full season.
  6. I imagine that Scribe will announce the race and halfway winners with the same post, so that's probably why it's taking a little longer than usual to get the race results.
  7. Truex will be in the Bass Pro Shops car for a few more years.
  8. From Nascar Scene: "Dale Earnhardt Inc. is still talking with Budweiser about the company continuing its team sponsorship of the car being vacated by Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the end of this season. While Budweiser officials confirmed earlier today that the company would not be moving over to Hendrick Motorsports with Earnhardt Jr. for next season, the company did not announce which team it will sponsor in 2008. Budweiser appears to be in discussion with a few teams, including DEI. ...... Siegel added that he'd like to have a driver in place by the end of July. He said that there is no update on the status of the No. 8 and whether that will remain with DEI or go with Earnhardt Jr. to Hendrick." And from Jayski: "UPDATE: Evernham Motorsports owner Ray Evernham says reports that he is close to signing a deal with Budweiser for next season are unfounded. Published reports this week have linked Budweiser with Evernham driver #9-Kasey Kahne for the 2008 season, and while Evernham confirmed that conversations have taken place, he said there is no truth to rumors that he will announce the new deal next week. "We have talked to Budweiser, but they have also spoken to five or six other teams in the Nextel Cup garage," he said.(Motorsports Soapbox).(7-13-2007)"

  10. And, boy, did Monster ever get some exposure in the Sears Point(Sonoma, as it's known now) race?!! :thumb: I'd be willing to bet they got as much, or more, than anyone else.
  11. Uncle, I was only passing along the information to Pat Dad that I thought it was only for one race. I'm not jealous of that fact since I wouldn't expect anyone to sponsor me for even one race! And, unless you have information that you didn't divulge, Monster could possibly have future race sponsorships already scheduled for Gordon, although I'm not aware of any! But I think it's as good a way as any for them to get noticed and position themselves to become a player with a larger presence in Nacar. :walk:
  12. The Gordon sponsorship is a one-race deal, from what I remember reading about it. :thumb:
  13. Monster, the energy drink, from the Captain Thunder site, (http://www.captainthunderracing.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=2188&mode=&order=0&thold=0), is also talking with Hendrick about possible sponsorship of some kind on the car next year, and it's marketed by Anheuser-Busch who, of course, owns Budweiser. Monster is sponsoring a Late-Model car owned by Jr. Motorsports for 10 races this year so, who knows, they may play a role next year, then Budweiser partner back up with Jr. for 2009???
  14. Boy, it's been one of those weeks and I thought I'd take one last glance at this and I'm glad I did. The format was the farthest thing from my mind when I made my earlier post, so this is my best guess and replaces my earlier post: Juan Montoya Jimmie Johnson Jeff Gordon Jeff Gordon Jimmie Johnson
  15. I'll be out of town this weekend and leaving early in the morning, so I thought I'd better get my picks in now, even though they're the same as last week's. 48 17 99 5 31 16 11 24 20 29
  16. It'll still be there, RP. :thumb: I just hope it's still under the watchful eye of The Scribe! It'll be what it is, and we can't change what we've done, or will do until Scribe gets back up and running again, so we'll just have to hope that we're close with what we think our success's or failures have, or will have, been.
  17. I hope Scribe's woes aren't fatal! We(I) don't want to lose his expertise and personal touch.
