Just out of curiosity do you have to win December tournaments to win the Sweet Sixteen? How many of the teams that won these tournaments in the past have gone on to win the State championship. As I stated before GRC was not beaten by much in any of these games and can compete with anyone! :ohbrother:

In 2007 Clark County ran into a tough Ballard team in the second round of the Sweet Sixteen. I think from that point on Coach Humphrey realized to compete at the top level you must play the top level teams. This has been his method of scheduling since that time. The teams that beat Clark County thus far are top tier in the state. The lesson to take from these defeats is that Clark County can compete at this level, all of these games were close. No one said GRC was the greatest team ever to lace up sneakers, Gold Sunrise even warned everyone we would take some lumps along the way. I guarantee Coach will work out the problems that were exposed during these games and GRC will be ready to play come late February and March. He is a great Coach and he has a very talented team!

I wouldn't get all warm and fuzzy about the "domination" of the 7th region just yet! Yea, they won a December tournament, practically at home, but it is December. There is a lot of basketball to be played yet! We will see where things shake out the rest of the year. :popcorn:

Don't count GRC out just yet it is only December! Losing by a total of 13 points to two very hot teams is not as bad as it would seem. This was in their back yard too! A team that plays well in December sometimes struggles to maintain that momentum the rest of the season. Like wise a team that may lose a few close games in December has motivation going into the second half of the season. The 5/3 will give you a better idea just how these teams stack up in DECEMBER! I believe GRC is still one of the top teams in the state and will be just fine when March rolls around.:thumb:

It's easy for a team to take it to you when you get called for a foul when you guard them even semi close. 30 free throws to 16 is a little on the lop sided side!:idunno:

A lot of no calls on charges and a lot of blocking calls when they should have been charges. Sewell was allowed to go to the boards strong all night and run through the defense with a no call. At one point a trinity player was laying half in bounds and half out of bounds and had the ball in his hands, the ref called trinity ball? He was standing on top of the play! A lot of the calls were not made by the ref closest to the play but by the ref across the floor. I realize it is not an exact science but the stats say something when you look at the desparity between the totals.:idunno:

I think there were some really bad calls. Seems like Highschool talent has made a great leap forward and the officials have not. They cannot work well at the speed the game is played. I feel like Trinity may have gotten the benefit of the doubt on some of the close calls, and the refs just blew some really easy ones!

Is it just me or does shooting twice as many free throws as an opponent seem a little high?:ohbrother: Trinity admitted they wanted to play aggressive and I guess they did and it payed off. It will be interesting to see a Clark County- Trinity match up in Lexington!:irked:

GRC faced a very tough full court press Saturday night and were able to keep the game close enough in the end to pull out the prayer shot . The key being they had to be that close in the end to win! This team has always found ways to win. Memphis matched up size and talent wise with GRC and to beat them I think you have to have the total package, depth and size and talent to match. Even with that combination they may still beat you ! I think you will see an inspired GRC team that has played a tougher schedule than anyone else I have seen this year. They will be ready to play and I will go with the Cards by 10. GO CARDS!:ylsuper::banana:
