Thanks for the info. I just assumed if the JV game was played the varsity team was already there. It was a very bad night for traveling. I put in 45 minutes myself last night going 2 miles on I 75 in Florence ended up getting off and running back roads. Good deal all the teams last night made it home safe.

Why did they cancel the varsity game if the teams were done there?

The championship game is live online tonight. The other games have a 12 hour delay. I have watched a couple of them. Good camera work and coverage just wish I could have watched them live not 12 hours later.

Well you know Boone County was well coached by that article. It lists Nell Fookes and Nell Fortner as coach. That duo should win you a bunch of games! lol!!!

I hope they keep the 9th finals on Sunday afternoon. I was able to attend the 10th region girls finals at noon Saturday, 8th region girls finals Saturday night and both 9th region finals Sunday. What a weekend.

Did Ryle have a timeout left?

I couldn't believe what I saw in that last minute of play, and especially Ryle conceding the loss with 6 seconds on the clock. Boone County had a 2 point lead, foul the rebounder, have 5 seconds left after the fouls shots then see what happens. 4 Ryle players nearby watching the rebounder dribble and 1 Ryle player laying on her back midcourt with 6 seconds left just isn't good basketball. I think Ryle needs to work on time management for next season. Good luck to Boone County. Be the 1st 9th region team to win it all.

I just googled California school for the deaf, and I found 2 of them. One is in Fremont, the other is in Riverside. The Riverside school is the one that traveled to Ky. If my memory is correct, Jim Higgins 1994 Highlands team was defeated by M.C Napier. That school closed the next year. Not a school you would think would be state champion material. I was a big Jim Higgins fan. Does anyone know where he is today? When he left Highlands they said he was moving to Georgia.

I hope he stays at Simon Kenton forever. He took a program from winning 1-3 games a year to 20+ wins a season. Granted he had some good talent come along the last few years. He lives in the area, is well respected by everyone in the area. Please stay MR Stowers.
