  1. I believe Roger and Darin Vanover are taking over the McKell 7&8 grade football school program. :fight:
  2. Matt been on the baseball diamond of late. He is playing on GC junior Legion team. :thumb: Maybe he make a late entry into football like Newberry did last year. LOL
  3. Greenup had their chance with runners on first and third with no outs in the second due an error and miss played pop up. But GC could not exucute and came away empty handed. Big turning point in the game. I believe that Sheperd struck out the next two batters and LC threw out Greenslate going home after the throw down to second. Ouch!:sssh: Hats off to LC. The better team today.
  4. Another question is Why isn't Matt Jones playing GC football? He another very capable quarterback. Competion for positons is always good for the team as the whole. Matt Jones was the Mckell 8grade Quarterback I think. :irked:
  5. What teams was in the tourny? Who won the Tourny?
  6. Still, short fence or not that is nice job!
  7. I went with GC if they are throwing Hieneman, if not I go LC. I think GC & LC are at a disadvantage of playing first. If both throw their #1, then LexCath rolls the dice with their number #2. LC or GC will have a hard time with Maronde Big Lefty.
  8. The WLGC 105.7 FM out of Ashland should be broadcasting the rest of GC season.
  9. Game one GC throws Heineman should be a win. #2,#3, & #4 pitcher for GC I hope are up for the challenge. I have not been impressed with Greenslate (they were wins though) the last two outings, maybe due not having enough mound in between games. The last outing he gave up 6 or 7 hits to Russell, couple of them being doubles. I am sure GC pitching coaches will have the pitchers in the position to do thier best. GC should be back to Applebees regardless who they throw.
  10. Boyd had their chance in the 3 or 4 inning. When thier Frosh second baseman got on with hit. Boyd had no outs and thier top of the order up, but Boyd could not move the runner over. I thought that was a turning point in the game. Also when Frosh catcher hit Logan in the arm or back while trying to throw him out at first. The game should of been 0-0 in the sixth. Boyd made several good plays in the four or fifth though. Great game. I sure everybody would have like to seen it play in better conditions, but we didn't. Ump's decision. Helms and Heineman looked like the two best pitchers in the region. Helms looked to be throwing about 3-5 miles faster than Heineman.
  11. I think Hieneman throws around the low 80's. Pitching ain't just about speed but, if you know how to throw a changeup it makes 80 look real fast to some batters. I hope they are both at 100%. Should be a dandy of a game.:fire:
  12. This should be the best game of the region if Helms and Hieneman pitches.:fight:
  13. Greenup may have their hands full tonight looks like the Russell kid the Burg is throwing is 26-1 for his career at the Burg. Very Impressive!:scared:
  14. GC looked a little flat to me for first three innings, but they responded well after Portsmouth hit that grand slam. Way to hang tough. Let's hope they jump all over Wheelersburg if they don't, Logan better get on blood pressure medicine. GC better not give Burg a four run lead.
  15. Does anybody know if GC coaching staff has approach these boys. Back in the day Coach Younce, Mercer or Reed would activly seek out boys to play. Don't send an another player to try recuit the kid to play. Greenslate and Reed maybe hard to lure away from baseballl diamond since they have been expecting good success. Coach Logan helps provide a way to GC kids to play baseball almost year round if the kid so desires.
  16. I counted atleast five JV players for Raceland that was in GC school system in the last two years. Our loss your gain. Some young players need time to develop. Raceland seems to have a pretty good program over the years. FYI Also at GC JV game atleast six of starting nine also play on Varsity.
  17. I'm just saying everybody is beatable on a given day. Coach Logan stated in ADI that we might have been on the losing side if Tyler wasn't on the mound. link http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_121234923.html Boyd #2 pitcher would have been the ace on several teams in region last year too.:sssh:
  18. I agree except I wouldn't say very beatable just beatable.:argue:
  19. Grayson and Kitchen will be very entertaining to watch when they hit their senior year. I don't envy the kid that is across the line from either one of them.:fight:
  20. Greenup struggled moving runners into scoring positions. GC had several opportunities to go ahead just could not execute.
