  1. Come to think of it, I think it was Nathan Stallard, Curt's brother, that was a big star at Evarts. That was before even my time.
  2. I think you have it pretty close. A couple others for consideration would be: Willie Hicks (no relation to the other Hicks on the list). Willie averaged about 20 points a game on a very good 1970 Evarts team. This was the team that beat the M. Byrd lead Harlan team out of the district tounament. Harlan was the regional favorite and had a 19 game winning streak goiing into the district tournament. Curt Stallard (yep, the jailer). I am too young to remember him playing but I understand Curt was a heck of a player. The three best I can remember are Hershal, Billy, and Kerry, in that order. The most natural talent was Kenny Baxter. David Fox may have accomplished the most with the least amount of talent.
  3. JBS Elliot Co Shelby Valley Paintsville Rose Hill Corbin Cumberland If all these predictions come through that would mean the balance of power has shifted from the 11th and 7th regions to eastern Kentucky.
  4. Why do we never talk about the need for Dunbar to split?
  5. Strike3 is right on the money. According to the latest census, the population of Scott County, Kentucky is 33,061 people.
  6. According to the KHSAA website there are 5 high schools in Kentucky with more students than Scott Co. These schools are: Dunbar Henderson County Henry Clay Lafayette Eastern ST X and Trinity would also have more male students than Scott Co.
  7. There are several high schools larger than Scott Co. If I am not mistaken all the public schools in Lexington, except Bryan Station, are larger than Scott Co. St X has the largest male student populataion. The SC team that won the state championship last year had one player that moved to Scott Co in the first grade and one that moved to Scott Co in the 7th grade. All the others were born in Scott Co. I think it has more to do with having a great basketball feeder system than transfers or school size.
  8. Tates Creek was also without their best player, Sparks.
  9. Scott Co beats Clay Co by three to sweep both the varsity and JV AAU championships.
  10. Clay Co beats St X by 18 Scott Co beats Lex Cath by 37 Clay Co vs Scott Co at 3 PM for the championship
  11. Scott Co beats Lex Christian by 33 to win tournament for second straight year.
  12. Very, very true. I don't think you can put a lot of stock in summer scores. Some coaches take it very seriously, even scouting other teams. Other coaches may practice 2 or 3 hours before showing up to play in the state AAU.
  13. Semi-finals are being played now. Clay Co vs St X Lex Cath vs Scott Co
  14. It looks like Scott Co and Lex Christian in the finals at 1:30. Both teams won the semi-finals by only 3. If Scott Co has all their players, I am surprised the their games have been this close.
  15. I saw where Walls had a great game for KY, 21 points on 6 three pointers and 11 rebounds.
  16. Scott Co only beats Knox Central by 4. Did Scott Co play with all their players?
  17. Boone Co has beaten Pineville and will play the Knox Central/Scott County winner at 9PM.
  18. Fern Creek has also beaten Elliot Co by 7.
  19. Good and bad new for Harlan County. JBS beats Cawood by 13. In a big shocker, Cumberland beats Tates Creek by 14. I think this is an indication of the potential of Cumberland and the importance of Sparks to Tates Creek.
  20. Franklin Simpson distroys Hazard by about 18.
  21. Scott Co has to beat Knox Central to get to the Pineville/Boone Co winner.
  22. Knox Central beats East Jessamine by 30 and advances to play Scott County. Lexington Christian beats Wayne County by 9 and advances to play Mongomery Co.
