  1. I dont think Mason County being centrally located holds a lot of water either. According to my map Maysville is on the Ohio River, on the northern edge of the region. Montgomery county is on the southern edge of the region. Neither are the least bit centrally located. According to Mapquest the 8 teams in the 10th regional tournament in 2007 averaged driving 56 minutes each way. If the same teams played in Mount Sterling they would have averaged driving 68 minutes each way, a whooping 12 minute difference.
  2. Yep. According to their web site the Lousiville Gardens was built in 1905 and celebrated their 100th aniversary in 2005.
  3. The Lousiville Gardens is 102 years old. It was the Jefferson County armory for a long time.
  4. 2007 Regional Sites 1- Murray State 5,500 2- Hopkinsville 5,000 3- Grayson County 3,200 4- Western Kentucky University 7,326 5- Central Hardin 4,000 6- Louisville Gardens 3,000 7- Lousiville Gardens 3,000 8- Henry County 5,400 9- Holmes 3,000 10- Mason County 5,400 11- Eastern Kentucky University 6,500 12- Lincoln County 4,200 13- Corbin 2,500 14- Letcher County Central 3,500 15- Eastern Kentucky Expo Center 6,500 16- Morehead State University 6,500 I think Mountgomery County and its 4,200 seat gym could hold the 10th region tournament. About 1/2 the regional tournaments in the state were held at smaller gyms. The chairback seats would be an added comfort.
  5. I think the big question is "does gym size carry more weight than fairness?"
  6. If Boone Co outscored Scott Co in every quarter except the 2nd and still lost by 16, Scott Co must have had one heck of a second quarter.
  7. Mason County has had a huge advantage playing the regional tournament on their home court for all those years. Over the past 5 years Mason County has cut their chances of losing in half when playing on their home court. They have lost 20% of their road and nutural site games during this time period and have only lost 10% of their home games.
  8. I would GUESS that if the family is moving to another home within the Lafayette boundaries he would be ineligible. If the family moves to a home outside the Lafayette boundary I would GUESS that he would be eligible.
  9. Wayland is in Floyd County in far eastern Kentucky.
  10. Below are the specifics as relate to divorce and Bylaw 6 (transfers) "DIVORCE- The KHSAA will not recognize a legal seperation as grounds for a waiver of the provisions of this bylaw. The Commissioner may waive the provisions of this bylaw in the event of a dissolution of marraige (final and legal binding divorce) of the parents and a change in residence of the student pursuaint to a court order custody of the child to one of the parents with whom the student shall reside. In the event joint custody is awarded to both parents, for purpose of this bylaw, the student shall be deemed to reside at his or her previous residence if one parent retains the residence. If neither parent retains the former residence, the parents shall designate one of their new residences (mother or father) for the purpose of this bylaw, such designation to be reviewed and approved by the Commissioner."
  11. He possibly could be eligible if he meets one of the following criteria. a) Bonafide Change of Address- moves out of LHS school district before transferring. b) Divorce- Parent living outside LHS school district gets full custody. c) Guardianship Change of Address d) Death of Custodial Parent e) Transfer to Boarding School f) Student did not participate in athletics for a full year before transferring g) Reassignment by board of education h) Transfer from non-member school Even if the student meets one of the provisions above it does not guarantee the KHSAA will deem him eligible.
  12. I am sorry to report that just a week or so ago Kenny Baxter was killed by a hit and run driver in Mississippi. Below is the link to the story. http://www.commercialappeal.com/mca/desoto/article/0,1426,MCA_451_5627184,00.html
  13. Fudge is a nice little point guard, but one of the top 4 or 5 athletes in the Sweet 16 last year is a huge exageration.
  14. Of the teams with new coaches, I would think UHA, if Hobson stays around.
  15. They would probably let him out of his contract for a head coaching position.
  16. Good question. My guess is Harry Taylor or Spider Thurman with about 6 a piece. That's strictly just a guess. Was Taylor there for all the 6 consecutive years the Redhounds dominated the region in the late 40s and eary 50's. How does Bobby Keith's 16 state tournment coaching victories stand among the state's all-time best?
  17. I think just about any school, any size, anywhere, may be a step up from Greenup Co.
  18. Joe Gilley was the Harlan High School football, baseball, and basketball coach in the late 40s and 50s. He won a state championship at Harlan in 44 and another state championship in Maryland later. His record at Harlan was: Basketball 320-151 (.679) Football 109-42 (.722) Baseball 204-64 (.761)
  19. I think he has already accepted the Bath offer. What's going on at Harrison?
  20. I think you would have to include a Mr. Basketball (Thomas) and a 4 time college All American (Sanford) on the all time region team. Heck, lets put 11 on the team.
