I personally would have to go with the following Lineup for the Greenup County Musketeers: G-Chris Plummer G-Steve Skaggs F-Boo Williams F-Jim Tackett C-Mike Scott Second 5 In no Particular order: Adam "Bird" Tackett, Tim Veach, Damon Stephenson, Tracy Claxon, Mike Raby.

It should remain "The Greenhouse," but lets hope there comes a day when they at least give Ward his just due as he didn't get to leave on his own terms. Naming the court after him would be the least they could do.

I won't even give you an answer to that one. I've said enough already.

I reserve my right for judgment as should you that's all I can say. I know for a fact that one of their "key witnesses" as this person would be in the court of law is not what we would call a credible witness.

No doubt those two kids led to a ton of wins for the Clay program and they would've benefited the GC program along with others who were not a part of the GC program. Sour grapes are the reason why GC has sunk so low and as I stated earlier it should've never happened.

As I've stated many times, the old adage "Those who live in glass houses" applies here. I'm sorry Jay I've seen the political nonsense running both ways and yes if he has broken rules, no doubt you should take care of the situation. But, I believe that no hard evidence has been made public, so until I see it in the public domain I have to reserve my judgment either way.

Well my point is that Zornes was the man come Region tourney time and in reality he never showed the same flashes on the big stage at Rupp.

I never questioned Sutton's effort in the program, but maybe he needs to remember some of those lessons he learned not so many years ago, that's all I say.

He was voted player of the year by the coaches at the Sweet 16 and the last team that Ward had was one of his best yes, but a guy named Tyler Zornes shot out of his posterior as I remember hitting fade away shots over the top notch defense of Griffith. But, then again Zornes showed up once a year that being the Region finals asks Ashland (half-court shot to beat the Tomcats in '99).

Believe me the majority of people would take Ward back in a heartbeat as the program would've come to this point. Not to mention one of the premier players this area has had in a while (Cam Thoroughman) would've been a Musketeer. Imagine having him in Green, Gold and Black and I guarantee you would've seen at least a couple of Region Title numbers added to the rafters at "The Greenhouse." It's amazing those many people who was his detractors when he was there many of them tell me they wished he would never been let go. Not to mention as well a top notch coach in Tim Fraley (current Rose Hill Coach) would've been the head coach at GC as his heir apparent. Well no since in wishing for those days there long gone and with it goes the respect that so many put their blood, sweat, and tears into.

Yes the talent that Cooksey had in his first year was good enough to win the Region, much less just make it to Morehead. He had the player of the year in the Region (Lawson), one of the best big men (Porter), and some quality guards. As far as 6'11" the only one that tall was a once in a lifetime All-American Mike Scott. Yes there are many talented kids in a bigger school like GC, but let me tell you something there were many kids that Ward took a chance on that others like Cooksey did pass up. Just because you have all this talent doesn't mean it coaches itself and that's the bottom-line. All 20 freshmen gives you is just more parental problems as far as I'm concerned. I would much rather have a quality 10 or so. I know you would agree Jay that having that many kids down the road only leads to problems when they are upperclassmen.

The two middle school system is a big part of the problem. When the schools were purposed to be opened they were named Greenup County East (Wurtland) and Greenup County West (McKell). But, then magically those names were literally removed from the schools (I remember seeing the names posted at the Wurtland location on a sign) and the county was once again split with the old animosity from the days of having three independent schools. As far as making it to the Region once in four years, one must understand that when Hicks arrived the program was near the bottom. The previous regime before Hicks seemed to believe that the talent at the school was never ending and seemingly fell out of trees. As I've said before under Ward GC was a program and to have that you have to cultivate the talent, not just expect it to show up. No matter your opinion I think that Hicks was on the verge of bringing the program back to one of the better programs in the 16th Region. Much like his predecessor, I believe that at first he was of the philosophy that the talent would just flood in, but it took a couple of seasons for him to learn differently. The truth is there has always been jealousy in and of the basketball program at GC, it is unfortunate that the many years that one man (Ward) put into a program is no closer to being a contender than it was after he left. As far as who he beat to be 4-1, it's just as hard to judge what his record would be as of now as it is to say the current coach could do just the same.

I haven't heard that one yet. I'd love to know your source on that one, because I have a friend at the KHSAA and they never said any of the sorts when I asked them point blank. If the KHSAA wanted to get involved they would've been so long ago I believe. The KHSAA was involved in this "situation" and already ruled on said kids already mentioned. In reality I believe that this administrator was probably misinformed, but that's just one man's opinion.

Sounds like neither team played much defense at all.

Good win for Fraley's young Royals. Anytime you can beat a quality opponent in a tight contest this late in the season you got to call it a good win. But, I'm sure Fraley isn't completely happy, no coach ever is.

Oh I believe that their hand would be forced to get involved if some of the facts (info) come to fruition. The KHSAA would lick their chops for the mere publicity.

Exactly and I'm afraid there could be some other names (schools) who may come up when the time is right. Put it this way I know for a fact there are few people lurking out there who have direct knowledge and hard evidence that would lead to the ruin of a few people.

I feel that if this does go to court it will be for the best of all parties. Maybe all the ghost of the past will finally be exorcised in GC school system. As it has been stated by scooterbob and others there have been problems beyond this current situation with GC schools. I agree that Hicks must pursue this in order to have any chance at all of being hired again elsewhere, as for the situation with the Russell player, I'll remind everyone of the old adage "Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house." I believe this could the beginning of something that could change the perspective of everyone in the region.

It's not so much the coaches that are from the South Shore end of the county it's the administrators who rule the roost that's what I believe the oldrambler is talking about.

Oh so you say coaches before him were all about egos. If you only had a clue of how many people (not just players) Coach Randy Ward aided in their life’s, including the current interim coach. I think that you statement about all coaches is too broad and comes from a very narrow point of view. I know personally that Ward was there to help out families in need around the holidays, especially. Ward was that way from the time I met him in the early 80's. I'm not saying that the current interim coach is undermining or undercutting, but maybe he should rethink some of the steps that have led to his current position and remember the people that helped him those many years ago.

Hey there will be a job available at Greenup County. Great facilities (4300+ gym), nice student body to draw players from, tradition of winning (well that's past, but who knows??). But, there is that whole nasty political battle you have to face.:fight: Starns is a good coach he'll land on his feet soon. JC is much like GC it takes a special person to withstand the garbage that is thrown your way. It's a shame that Starns couldn't keep it going. I wish him the best.

I honestly could care less about Hicks the situation is just reminiscent of the continued political issues the GC schools have had since the consolidation of the 3 schools. Believe me I know the situation as I've seen all of the political nonsense from the very beginning. The reality is these 3 schools should've never been put together; the county is too diverse on both ends to be consolidated. But, now we are left to deal with the mess, thanks a bunch Lowdenback (If you are old enough you know what I'm saying).
