The truth is using an official’s lack of judgment as you excuse for a loss is lame in most cases. There is always something your team has control of (turnovers, poor shot selection, not blocking out for a rebound, etc...) that causes one to lose a game. Officials are officials and they are going to make bad calls, you have to live with that going into every game. The truth is there is no real luck in this world and you have to make your own breaks.

It is not the scoring that VanHoose damaged Elliott with as much as him passing out of post position on a guard. Countless times he was able to find open men on backdoor cuts, medium range jumpers, etc.. The truth is the Elliott coaching staff never made the proper adjustments.

The point of this whole post is that many of the posters on here from the Elliott County camp (Not all) feel as though their team is being slighted in some way. I don't feel that is true, as it doesn't matter what the local media, fans, and others think. The true level of respect is paid by opposing coaches and players and I feel Elliott has had their respect for sometime. As far as the battle that is sure to ensue between Elliott County and Rose Hill over the next few years, I'll take the boys from The Hill as I feel they have a true physical presence in Euton, where Elliott lacks that. In the Lions game against Russell their physical weakness was exposed as VanHoose used his strength, not finesse to take it to Elliott's weaker guards. Now Elliott fans I'm just one man with one opinion don't be too offended.

Nice win for the Devils, they appear to be primed for a big postseason run. Where are all the Elliott faithful after the loss, don't be too down it's not a loss in the postseason. With that said it still stings, but you can't let it get you down and get prepared for March.

The High Exposure Blue Chip camp is the one at Georgetown. I've attended severa; times and the instruction is top notch for the price that is paid.

The only reason I remember Greenwood is because of the Fishback kid who played there and went on to star at Auburn. I believe that he was also a Mr. Basketball winner??? If I'm not mistaken didn't Jason Lathram play there as well??

Congrats to Austin, it’s a great accomplishment for anyone to reach. Good luck to the Devils as well in the upcoming postseason.

I thought that Greenwood High had the Gator as a mascot, but not sure.

Obviously with fewer schools playing D-1 basketball in the mid 80's it was more prestigious to obtain the chance to play at that level. It is no knock on a kid today, but just a simple fact.

I said there is 336 D-1 schools not major D-1 schools reread the post and as far as reliving the past I was just responding to Gatorlovers post about major D-1 players, get over it.

Gatorlover is right, we've only had one true D-1 player in 20+ years and if you see a major D-1 player they stick out. The truth is that now there are 336 schools I believe that are fielding teams, so I believe that the prestige that was once there is not as strong. Now that is no insult to any player that signs a letter of intent, but when a Mike Scott signed his letter of intent it was way more prestigious than it is today.

I agree that none of the 16th can quite hang with the big boys just yet. The only team that has performed well on a big stage was Rose Hill at "The King of The Bluegrass."

I think this will be a great matchup of two of the top teams in the 16th Region. Being that it is Russell's Senior Night, I'll go with the Devils by 5 points.

I would agree Jackson and Euton (As I like to put it, because I like Jackson's upside over Euton's) is a tremendous combo. I really believe this pair will take The Hill far in the future and possibly the present (Who knows once you get to Morehead). The truth is they did not rack up their stats against cupcakes and they continue to play as well or better than any other pair in 16th Region. I have to agree with Fastbreak their stats are even more impressive considering both attract double-team efforts nearly the entire contest (especially Euton). Without a doubt in my mind I would take this pair over any duo, just one humble mans opinion (But we all know what they say about opinion).

Are you for real Menifee by 5 points, I hope this is a joke, or way early April Fools. Rose Hill will win this game by at least double-figures if not by 20 or more.

I'm sorry I have a hard time believeing that Elliott can hang with the big boys just yet. If they were such an elite offensive machine then why not an All 'A' title at the very least. I can say the young Lions are a quality 16th Region team, but not a top tier team for the state of Kentucky (and that's no slap in the face, just fact).

The point is Elliott has yet to see the talent and athletes that are on some teams throughout the state and the All 'A' is the best measuring stick believe me. I could name many teams that are quicker and more athletic and with that they could not hang in there I believe.

I'm not asking for a slower tempo from Elliott, but in my humble opinion they will get run off the floor by a few teams in Rupp if they try to continually run instead of looking for a good shot. Just remember there is a difference in playing fast then playing smart and fast.

Exactly look at the past scores from the Regional Tourney and it is easy to see games are never played in the 80's, 90's and not in the 100's for sure. Teams and coaches are always tighter when it comes to having a trip to Rupp on the line. So Elliott fans can be happy with a regular season win and 102 points, but come March none of that really matters.

I don't believe that the Tomcats will play such lackluster offense to allow the Eagles to score 98 points in the 64th District Tourney. Great game, but doesn't sound like a whole lot opf defense was put up by either team.

Sounded like the Panthers played pretty hard. I wish them luck over in Flemingsburg, it doesn't seem that long that they played in Rupp. Don't ever give up it could happen again for the Panthers. However, good win for GC nice to help build momentum towards the March run.

Yes that is all too often the case with many players from our area. It is a true shame, Mike Scott was dominant as a freshmen at Wake Forest and came back to be closer to his girlfriend and family at UK. He basically rotted on the bench at UK. Todd May from Virgie basically the same story. Unfortunately that has made some D-1 schools wary of Eastern KY players.

Me either, but it has been a while since I've been there. I thought it always had top notch lighting and acoustics.
