Bryan Station 68 Lafayette 66 OT
According to the story, the game went to OT. So if a mod could correct the thread title, I would appreciate it. :thumb: Mike Allen will never forget his debut as Bryan Station's boys' basketball coach. In a mad scramble in the closing seconds of overtime, the Defenders' Larry Morton came up with a steal in front of the Lafayette bench and heaved a pass down the floor to Marcus Williams, who sped in for a layup at the buzzer to give Bryan Station a 68-66 victory. "That was a great high school game for an opening night," said Allen, who played in his share of city showdowns as an all-state player for the Defenders in the late 1980s. Bryan Station and Lafayette are both retooled teams from last season, so both were expected to show a lot of rough edges this early. They did, combining for 44 turnovers and anemic shooting. But both teams also showed lots of potential. Read more: http://www.kentucky.com/2010/11/29/1545859/bryan-station-beats-lafayette.html#ixzz16jy5RBnz

Iolani Classic in Hawaii
I didn't realize what a national powerhouse Montverde was until I looked it up online, wow. It will be a great experience for the Royals and the kids from Catholic, can't wait for the tournament to start.

Iolani Classic in Hawaii
This is a list of the teams participating in the tournament this year. Lexington Catholic (KY) Dr. Phillips (FL) MontVerde (FL) Mason County (KY) Mount Vernon (NY) Oak Hill (VA) Wheeler (GA) Tsinghua (China) St. Louis, Iolani Kamehameha Kaimuki Moanalua Radford Millilani Academy of the Pacific Iolani The last 8 teams after China are all local Hawaii teams. Last time Mason County was here it was a round robin and not a standard tournament because of KHSAA rules regarding playing teams from other states being private and/or no part of a state high school athletic associaton, something to that effect. This one will be a regular tournament. Here is a link to the bracket, you will see Mason County opens up against one of the Hawaii teams and could take on Mount Vernon again in the 2nd round. Lexington Catholic opens up against the team from China. Thank holy goodness that Oak Hill is on the other side of the bracket. http://koa.iolani.honolulu.hi.us/PDF/2010%20Brackets%20Div%20I%20Boys.pdf

Boys 10th Region CJ Coaches choice of teams and players
Thanks for the info, I know it's rare when Mason County will put a young kid on Varsity. I'm hoping he might get to play some JV, I don't really ever see the freshman team play.

Boys 10th Region CJ Coaches choice of teams and players
I forgot and I figured it wasn't worth starting another thread, but I would just ask here. Danny Weddle posted team photos of the Royals Varsity, JV and Freshman teams on his site. Does anyone know who #31 is on their freshman team is, the kid appears to be around 6'6.

Boys 10th Region CJ Coaches choice of teams and players
Was telling the g/f tonight, next week can't get here soon enough. Going to be another great basketball season, we need to get going!!! :thumb: I do agree with the rankings, Royals have a nice core returning, but lost some key players and we will see how their bench develops as the season goes along.

Boyd County 2010/2011
It's amazing to think that it's been 10 years since Boyd represented the 16th at Rupp. I have also heard they have some nice pieces in place and maybe a foundation for some success. I would think the 16th is wide open this year.
