Boys 10th Region CJ Coaches choice of teams and players

Featured Replies

This is the coaches choice of teams and players from the CJ. I put more stock in this list than the Cats Pause for the 10th region, because it is the coaches opinion and not one persons. The Lexington Hearlds Coaches poll is supposed to come out Friday I have been told.

Here is a link to all regions:

10th Region

Teams:

1. Clark County, 2. Mason County, 3. Scott, 4. Montgomery County, 5. Pendleton County, 6. Campbell County, 7. Bishop Brossart, 8. Deming, 9. Harrison County, 10. Augusta.

Players:

1. Robbie Stenzel (Clark County), 2. Vinny Zollo (Clark County), 3. Kellen Smith (Scott), 4. Treg Setty (Mason County), 5. Omar Prewitt (Montgomery County), 6. Jaylen Daniel (Clark County), 7. Neal Pawsat (Mason County), 8. Jordan Gilbert (Mason County), 9. Kyle King (Deming), 10. Chris Gillispie (Bourbon County).

The top 3 teams listed pretty much sums up how it has been for the past several years with Clark/Mason at #1 and then Scott at #3. The rest has varied from season to season. Also love the pub that Kellen Smith is getting and its nice to see that the coaches know what he brings to the table.

I agree why I like the coaches poll as well. The players ranking were the biggest difference in the two. #6 Jaylan Daniels and #10 Chris Gillispie was left off the other list.

I love what Kellen Smith brings to the court. He is full of energy , handles the ball and is the floor general. He is very deserving of the #3 spot.

I think this is more accurate in both accounts (teams and players).

Pendleton County stud sophomore Mason Monroe is a top 10 player IMO.

That may be but not according to the coaches. I'm sure if he is, he will prove it to them on the court this year.

Agreed.

The season, at this point, can't get here fast enough. I know football season still has a few weeks left but I'm all but ready for basketball season now!

Did Mason's Neal Pawsat get hurt? I believe it was him listed in the Herald Leader last weekend that he tweaked his knee in a football game.

I originally heard that Pawsat was out for the year. I haven't had this confirmed though.

He uis going to be OK. The injury is not as bad as it was last year and he came back and played basketball. I am glad he will be back soon and is going to be OK.

Agreed.

Me either, I am so ready for the journey to begin. GRC has their first scrimmage this Friday against the #1 team in the state J-Town. Expecting a huge crowd for the scrimmage.

Was telling the g/f tonight, next week can't get here soon enough. Going to be another great basketball season, we need to get going!!! :thumb:

I do agree with the rankings, Royals have a nice core returning, but lost some key players and we will see how their bench develops as the season goes along.

He is a good player, but with the region yeilding so many talented players, just not top 10 yet.

I forgot and I figured it wasn't worth starting another thread, but I would just ask here. Danny Weddle posted team photos of the Royals Varsity, JV and Freshman teams on his site. Does anyone know who #31 is on their freshman team is, the kid appears to be around 6'6.

Montgomery being ranked fourth is pretty strong. They lost some key players. I know they return Prewitt, but don't have much to go with him. I totally agree with Daniels being on the list. I'm the guy who said he was the number one player in the region. Not sure about Giliispie being added to the list. Not sure he is even the best player on his team.
