  1. Scooterbob, you definitely use the shotgun method when criticizing your neighbors. I can honestly say that in general, I am a supporter of the small school, Rose Hill included. But to say that RH is the only school that acts fairly in the district is beyond belief. Your constant attacks and negativity about area schools actually puts a bad taste in my mouth about Rose Hill. Luckily I then read posts from other Rose Hill fans such as Himmelfarb, Ricky P, etc. and I realize that there are classy fans at RH just as there are in all the district schools. After reading your numerous posts these last few months I would say that your only reason for posting on BGPs is to protect the interests of RH. Sadly, it seems that you must criticize all the neighboring schools around you to protect RH. And then you seem surprised when RH becomes a target. My dear grandmother always said, "Its easier to catch flies with honey than with vinegar". Makes a lot of sense to me.
  2. Scooterbob, once again you play the situation to fit your needs. The problem with too many of today's youths is that they look for excuses and supposed jealousies from others to justify their actions. Your remarks play right into their hands. I feel sorry for Mayo when his fame fades and he is held up to the same standards of ordinary mortals.
  3. Scooter, you may not be saying that Sutton orchestrated the activities at Greenup County, but it sounds like you believe he is using the events for his own benefit. This is a VERY fine line that you are playing with. You say that Hicks should not be unfairly judged by anything other than the facts. Unfortunatley, you don't seem to judge Sutton by the same criteria.
  4. So Scooterbob should all technical fouls called on the high school level be investigated at the same vigor that you suggest for Mr. Mayo. It sounds as though you endorse video-tape investigations for all "questionable" technicals. If this is so, where does it stop. I would surmise that a majority of player and coaches who receive techicals feel that they are treated unfairly. Should we begin allowing for video replays during high school games for all called violations. If this is the case, I believe that you would see even worse officiating because the officials would always be aware of the video camera looking over their shoulder. Bottom line--Mayo was called for 2 technicals. Whether spectators agree or disagree with the calls, the calls were made. Because of his notoriety, more people than most are questioning these calls. That does not mean that Mayo should be given special treatment or additiional "investigations" into the matter to see if the calls were correct. By doing so would be giving preferential treatment.
  5. Scooterbob, I also do not know Hicks, Sutton, or any of the "players" of the Greenup melodrama, so I can be about as unbiased as it gets. You say you don't know Sutton and you say you are an opponent of hearsay, yet you now assume that Sutton has used machiavellian motives to acquire the head coaching job. Sutton may hate the way he obtained this position - he had to realize what a tough position it would put him in. Is it just possible that Sutton took the job because he loves the kids. I would think that Hicks would support a coach on his staff that has learned his system and would make a coaching transition easier for the boys. Even if Hicks doesn't personally like Sutton (which I have no info of) maybe he should put his own personal feeling on the back burner and help make the situation better for "his" kids. I have observed Hicks' behavior in the stands around the other parents, and whether he realizes it or not, I believe that it has had a negative impact on the situation (Since I am only giving my opinion of a situation that I have seen firsthand, I don't believe this is hearsay) Scooterbob, I realize that due to your background that you don't like to see the rights of people trampled on, and I agree in most situations. However, there comes a point where a person should consider the effect that this "personal justice" is having on those around him. If Hicks truly loves his players, he should be willing to take some "personal injustice" for their benefit.
  6. I understand and respect your decision to let this subject drop. Just curious and a bit amazed at this turn of events on both the boys and girls sides of the 64th.....
  7. Scooterbob, I completely agree with you about the seeding issue. I can see no reason how it favors Fairview or RH to seed. I am not saying that I believe that Ashland and Boyd are such powerhouses that in certain years seeding would not favor RH or Fairview. I am just looking at the reality of the situation. Most years the bigger school will have the athletic advantage. Not to make a big issue about this, but personally I am just curious to know who made this decision at RH and why??????
  8. As to my understanding of the voting process, once a seed or non-seed majority vote is made it remains that way year after year until another majority vote changes it. This is why I am baffled at RH's decision to vote to seed. I could possibly see the reasoning if the boys and girls had to make the same decision - the girls might sacrifice for the boys who look to have some very strong years ahead of them. But, according to Jay Bilas, this isn't the case. Scooterbob, Himmelfarb, or anyone else close to the RH scene - can you help explain Rh's vote?
  9. Wow, most high school players would be happy to have scored 656 points (the totals from Laura's Junior year) in their entire career. Broken down year by year, this achievement seems even more incredible.
  10. It really surprises me that RH would vote to seed, especially for the year after Terry and queen graduate. I know that RH has a nice crop of very young players that may be very good in several years, but the next few years may be tough for the Lady Royals. Why wouldn't RH wait until they get older before this decision? I'm sure that Boyd and Ashland will probably always want to seed, so its not like RH had to jump on the opportunity this year. Can anyone close to the RH girl's program give me RH's reasoning for seeding in the 64th?
  11. Great photos Himmelfarb. Also a great, and well-deserved, article on 2 of the classiest young ladies you will ever see on or off the court. Good luck to both of them in college and beyond.
  12. Thanks Jay - If the girls seed do the boys automatically have to seed next year also, or do the boys and girls vote separately on this issue?
  13. Voting to seed is huge in the 64th district. With the loss of seeding when district restructuring occurred (with the loss of Lawence and addition of Fairview) I didn't think that seeding in the 64th would ever be voted back. Who cast the deciding vote-Fairview or RH (and what is their motive?)
  14. Barb Harkins and Birdel Fish were also great ones at Ashland
  15. Congrats to Coach Keeton and his girls. Coach Keeton is doing a great job at Greenup. IMO he is one of the best coaches in the region for studying an opposing team and coming up with a viable gameplan. This is a big win for his program.
  16. Great win for the young kittens. It sounds like Ashland had to fight back in this one too. I thought the game could be close but that Raceland would pull it out. Good luck to Raceland the rest of the regular season and into the tourney. Trimble and his staff are a class act and I've been very impressed with his girls this season. I have a feeling that Trimble's seniors will lead the lady Rams deep into post-season play. Ashland's win tonight just solidifies what everyone has been saying on BGPs. The region is up for grabs!
  17. Congrats form me as well. RH will definitely miss your skill and leadership next year.
  18. It looks like the Lady Vikings are really starting to hit their stride. In a previous post just a day or so ago I said that Russell is the team to beat. I might still give the edge to Russell, but Rowan is definitely breathing on the Lady Devil's necks.
  19. This score really surprised me. Was Lawrence at full strength when this game was played?
  20. I agree with Shooter that Russell doesn't have a very deep bench either, but with all due respect to Terry and Queen, as a whole I feel that Russell has a more "complete" starting 5 than that of RH. IMO Russell is the one to beat, but given the right situation, RH could also be right in the thick of thing.
  21. I agree with Big Slick, I think this will be a close one with home court advantage giving the Lady Rams the edge. Raceland 52 Ashland 49
