Raceland vs. Russell 1/25 / thoughts and predictions

Featured Replies

Raceland is coming off a class A 16th region championship and host Russell on Thursday. First of all, with Russell schools being out for the rest of the week due to the flu outbreak will this game still be played? If so what are everyones thoughts and predictions on this one?

Russell did play last night after being out of school, should be a good game, but I think Coach Trimble will be getting ready for All- A and doesn't want to show too much. Russell by 8.

Russell is the most talented team in the region and have one of the best coaches. That being said, Raceland is very talented and also have a great coach. This one could and should be close. I give the nod to Russell, but wouldn't be surprised if Raceland wins it.

Should be fun to watch Fortman-Okoro and Seals-Vanderhoof. Lots of talent there. Not to mention the Porter's for Raceland and Sparks-Adkins for Russell.

This should be a very good game. Russell will be the favorite but the Lady Rams enjoy being the underdog.

Imo this will be a good test for Racleand heading into the all A state tourney. Imo it will be good to play tough competition (Russell) in preparing for the State tourney.

Russell if it gets decent play from its guards. Otherwise, Raceland has a good chance on its home court.

SB, I know what you are saying, (at least I hope I do ;) ) but it will take a little more than just decent play from the guards. Don't forget, the Lady Rams have a couple of nice guards of their own and some other players that compliment each other very well, so I say they have more than a "good" chance to win this one and as you say, homecourt advantage will be a plus.

Russell also has some very talented players that Raceland will definately have to contend with. IMO this game will be decided on the glass and the free throw line. Good luck to both teams and I hope they can play injury free.

I expect this to be a very competitive game between 2 rival teams. I agree that Raceland's home court advantage is a huge plus for the Lady Rams, but in the end I think that Russell's size will win out. I think the winning margin will be under 5 points, however, so sheer hustle and grit will play a big part in the final score.

Russell is 7 or 8-0 at "The Palace" including 2 or 3 wins against the Lady Rams. Russell likes the friendly confines of "The Palace".
