I think 2-5 might be pretty interchangeable at this point. All have a similar number of losses. However, Boone did lose to NCC and Newport. Boone and Highlands have not played yet. Highlands did lose to Newport (regardless of who played), and didn't NCC defeat Newport?

If Boone only loses two more, they will enter the district tournament with only one more loss than they had last year. They will win their district, and after that, it will depend on the draw. They may only have to win one tough game to get to the regional final again.

Don't count Boone out just yet. I think they only have about 1 more loss than they did at this time last year?

Man to man certainly makes it more difficult to make threes.

Yes, IMO, the 3 pointers were the main difference in both games.

A couple of them were from in the corner.

They tried to press in the end, and a couple of the threes were hit in the 4th quarter in transition after the press was broken.

Is Avery still out?

Brown was about the only one from Boone that did a lot. He had 20+. Boone sat in a zone, and Newport exploited hit by hitting about 9 or 10 threes. They shot well, and Boone didn't. I think another game between the two could go either way on a neutral court, and I would give the nod to Boone on their home court. The new transfer definitely helped Newport. I think he hit at least one three also.

Lay also did not play for Boone. (Missing two bigs.) Good win for Newport on their home floor. Newport, Highlands, and NCC will be a tough district. Too bad one of them won't make it to the region.

Boone definitlely missed Earls in this one.

Just this year for Newport. Holmes for the last few years.

I hear Earls might be sick.

Holmes and Newport have definitely benefitted from transfers the last couple years.

Bet he is quicker than a cat and can jump well, though ;-)

I hear that the same no-liability walk-on offer has gone out to other KY players. Some kids aren't interested in taking that chance unless they really want to go to that school anyway. I agree there are several other NKY players who NKU should also be looking at. Nothing against Mr. Jolly, but the 9th region has some awfully good local players too that are still uncommitted.

I heard redshirt walk-on with an opportunity at a scholarship later on. Nonetheless, at least he has been given a shot.

Newport's strength of schedule is currently about 6.3. Boone's is about 13.7 so far. The combined record of Newport's opponents is less than 500 (including Villa Madonna, Ludlow, SCPA, etc.). Boone's is about 666 percentage. Boone's weakest opponent has been Hopkins County Central. I know that Newport defeated a depleted Highlands team. What other impressive wins has Newport had so far? Boone plays on Newport's home court next week. At the moment, I don't think you can put Newport ahead of Boone, but certainly if Newport wins next week, they should be bumped to #2.

Congrats to the young man. Although I am surprised, he has the frame if he can add some muscle/weight, that should help. Scoring seems to be his strength. I had heard NKU was only going to possibly award one more scholly for the 2010 class. I guess this is it? I had heard they were mainly looking for big guys.

Agree that Boone bad an advantage inside. Their big men were not challenged, and the guards were able to drive. Boone's guards are quick and can get to the rim well especially when they get picks to work off of.

Simon Kenton hung with them the first few minutes and in the 3rd. The 4th was all Boone until the subs went in.

What have they done to drop? They have played a tougher schedule than Newport, and Highlands has more losses.

Boone was led by Popp and Earls with 14 apiece. Montgomery and Brown also had about 11. Sorrell led SK with 13. Was a 21 point lead by Boone until the starters were pulled with 2:30 remaining.

You never know. Central made it to the final and almost beat Holmes last year.
