For those of you that saw this team play, what did you think? I was impressed but also saw alot of room for improvement. Thoughts?

I never said they didn't. Almost every player on the team is on equal footing talent wise. It helps when you can bring players off the bench and not have a drop off in talent. The sad thing is that the coach still has very little idea about the strengths and weaknesses of his players. The longer he is with him, the better they will get.

This may be true about the Derek Smith All Stars, but it is not true at all about the Shining Stars. This weekend was the first time that the Shining Stars had all their players at the same time, and that wasn't even until the two games on Sunday, after they played team Kentucky. This was the first time that Vee Sanford has played with them as well. You make it sound like they have played alot together and that is simply untrue. They rarely have a practice and are at full strength.

Agreed McLovin--but the Shining Stars 17-u team has yet to be at full strength and has little or no playing time together as a team. On the other hand, the Derick Smith team has played about 20 games (and a couple of tournaments) together. Either way, should be fun to watch!

Anyone that thinks that Trevor can't bulk up much has never seen his dad! A red-shirt year with work in the weightroom and at the training table could make Trevor something special. He is ultra-competitive and at 6'7" with the shooting touch he has he will be very difficult to guard in a couple of years and 20 pounds of muscle. I had hoped he would walk on at UK--I think his "upside" is huge!

Good for Hopson, but I think Miller deserved it.

Thoughts on Trevor Setty?

McPapa said it, but I am not sure if Setty plays football. I could be wrong but I thought he didn't. I am not so sure about some of the young guys. I look for their schedule to be extremely tough once again. Maybe not a Hawaii trip but I would say they will get some invites to some tournaments or showcases since they are the defending state champs. It should be a good one.

I didn't see when you posted that, so I do apologize. But I can see you agree with me that Downing came on very strong. He will definately be a factor for Mason Co. next season. Hamm was the backup point guard this year and got limited minutes (maybe 5-10 a game?) but he took advantage of the minutes he got (example:region). If he gets stronger and learns to not dribble so much, he will be a good starting point guard for the Royals. Clarks freshman do have more experience, but the Mason freshman do have ALOT of strong points and could make an impact this year. If Setty and Pawsat step up like I think they can, they will give Clark Co. a run for their money for the region, along with Scott, Campbell, etc.

Mind putting the schools everyone attends for those of us that dont know them all?

Great high school player, but small D-1 is the best I see for him.

Coach O'Hearn has taken ALOT of crap from people, way more than he deserved. It is great to see him stick to his methods and get it done. We are proud of you Coach!

A very good point. The '03 bench was very good. The '08 bench never got much of a chance. Benches don't win titles but they certainly do help!

You must not have seen Downing during state tournament. He was a major factor for Mason County. And don't count out Ryan Hamm. You have talked about good freshman and Mason County has Pawsat and Setty coming in as sophomores and they will be good ones. Just wait.

THERE IS NO WAY THAT WOULD HAPPEN! I like Lit very much but no one this season could shut down Darius, what makes you think Litzinger could when he is 6'0"??? Besides, if they played Wes Jones would probably guard Darius.

No he didn't. He played for the '04 team that lost in the finals.
