For those of you that saw this team play, what did you think? I was impressed but also saw alot of room for improvement. Thoughts?

Very impressed with 17U team, they handled the Derek Smith team with ease....Will the Shining Stars be going to nationals?

They are an impressive team but to say they won with ease is a bit of a strech. They were 1-1 in the tournament aganist DS with their win coming by 5 points.

Not Friday night. Also, yes DSAS got behind, but came back even after not their best performance, particularly shooting, with a chance to pull out the game. However, SS was a really good team, and I think highly of Coach Stowers. Nonetheless, the prevailing attitude was that these teams would split if they played 50 games or 100 games, and IMO that is accurate. It held up for two games, SS just won the last one.

I agree. Both teams are very good. Even though the DSAS were a little short handed in the post because of some injury, both teams are very equal and will be competetive across the nation this summer.:thumb:

Very good team. I have seen them a couple of times this season, including the state AAU. Pulled it out with 3 seconds to go in the semi-finals, after HLB missed 2 free throws. Most of these guys will play somewhere at the next level. Congratulations to SS 17U.

I saw them in Cincinnati a few weeks ago and was impressed with Shining stars 17 and under. Got to watch part of a few games this weekend. Addition of CJ Penny really helped them out. He should be top 5 pre-season next year.

CJ Penny is from Anderson Co.

CJ Penny was a huge addition for this tournament and hurt DS with his versatility. However I have heard that he isn't going to stay with the SS because he is going back to Charlotte Court.

Why did Charlotte Court not compete in the state tournament?

Good points. I think it is possible to add Team Kentucky in there too. They did lead the entire game against Shining Stars until mid or late 4th quarter, including starting off with a 12 to 0 lead and a 22 to 7 lead early on before tiring due to missing some players and one injury. Against the DS team, the game was even or tied when Team Kentucky lost their only post player to ejection in the 3rd quarter. Team Kentucky already has proven they will compete against the country's elite programs too.
