  1. W- C. Johnson L- Meyer Brad Leeke and Dylon Cottingham each hit home runs. Freshman Justin Parker ends it with a 2 out bases loaded single to left center. Nice to see the bats come alive for the Tigers. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come the rest of the year.
  2. My vote goes to Ronald Cotton so far. I have to go with a kid who plays every day. He leads or is very high in most offensive categories. He is also a great center fielder.
  3. The first game was against Lexington Christian but they did beat Lexington Cath. tonight 4-1. The over all record is 22 wins vs 4 losses with 2 of those coming against StX, however they did beat X 12- something in the Bullit East tourny on their way to winning the tourny. This is a good team and one of the losses was to Ballard in pool play of that tourny, which they beat in the championship game. This class is going to be good through out Louisville with teams like X, Ballard and Male. Its going to be fun to watch over the next 3 years.
  4. Dixie has proven they struggle with a pitcher that throw alot of off speed stuff with good location. Teegarden from Boone got them last week I think in a 2-0 Boone win. Neither TJ or Teegarden have great fast balls, just effective.
  5. I hear the Male freshman team is very good. They knocked off Lexington Catholic the other day 2-1. The tying run was thrown out at the plate tagging from third on a fly ball in foul territory down the left field line. Just happened to be in the area and caught this game. I hear they have an eighth grader that has 2 or 3 home runs in very limited action. Is this true? What is his name? Who are some of the leaders of this team?
  6. I heard BW threw Colosimo, Johnson and Knauf got the win. I do not think any of those three started. Murphy took the loss for Boone. I was told the ace for Boone started. I do not know who there ace is. He took a line drive off the foot and left the game. Best wishes to him. Hope all is OK. Centerfielder Brad Leeke hit his first homerun of his varsity career on to the school in left. He was 2-4, HR, 2B, and I think 3 or 4 RBI. Colosimo- 2-4 2 RBI, Bertke 2-5 3 RBI BC- Wendlen 2-5, Teegarden 3-3, Cotton 2-4 ( Stats courtesy of the enquirer) This is all I have
  7. Best of luck Jenks on a full and speedy recovery.
  8. There is one mistake in the story. The shortstop who made the big play was Josh Bertke. When Johnson came on to pitch Bertke went to short and Colosimo went to third.
  9. And I think as well! Rock on Pirate!   :notworthy:  :sssh:
  10. This is not bad insight for a person with 9 post, 6 about Beechwood, 2 negative about 1 kid. Did you really join just to rip on a coach and a player? Move on! JMO Beechwood will have there hands full that is for sure. I would not count them out, just ask Cov Cath. This is a nice matchup of the last two 9th region champions. It is funny how the "Small" schools keep winning the big games.
  11. What is the break down for the sectionals? Who does the 9th play?
  12. I would not rule out St. Henry in the 9TH.
  13. They lost 4 starters, have a player coming back from injury, and no senior leadership. Dixie is ranked number one and some believe BW should not even be ranked. Of course many thought the same thing last year.
  14. I will be shocked if Bertke throws for BW. This game means very little except for some bragging rights maybe. I will say Colin Johnson may throw for BW. In all reality this game should not be close. BW is young and inexperienced. They are still working to get where Dixie is with the seniors who have been playing with each other.
  15. Infield... In the thread from the Ryle New Cath game it was said the outfield was very wet. Add more rain and I can just imagine what it is now.
  16. Rizzo started the game, Dill relieved him then Gold came in.
  17. Some people are just never happy. :puke:
  18. I wonder who showed up saying they were HHS? According to Newport fans they did scrimmage. I wasn't there so I can not confirm this info, only know what I was told. :idunno:
  19. Congrats on winning a scrimmage against the BW frosh team. Surely you know there are several younger kids on the BW frosh team as well. Sounds like HHS is well on the way to the freshman championship! :thumb:
  20. As I stated, BW and HHS frosh PRACTICED together on the football field. The rule reads "Game Conditions", I would not consider taking infield and batting practice as game conditions. Some of you are stating what happened as if you were there for all of this when actually you are going off what you read here. We all know this could be mis-leading. If any of you have been near BW lately you know there is very limited parking ( more so than before) with the construction of the new part of the school. Apparently, HHS has some other teams from outside the school using the football field for soccer or whatever. They agreed to get together and Practice. Most of you know there is a family connection there and BW coaches would love to see HHS be successful, except vs BW of course. Just because they got together does not mean there were any rules broken. Like I said earlier, since this is BW some are going to make a federal case of it. If you were not there you really do not know what happened.JMO
  21. My understanding of the rule is that each team can scrimmage twice. The freshman 2, JV 2, and varsity 2. Also, if there are no umpires involved it is a practice not a scrimmage. The BW/HHS JV/frosh deal was a practice. There were no umpires and was on the football field. With the limited space at BW due to construction/softball and other outside teams using HHS they got together to practice not scrimmage. Funny how everyone is always up on exactly what Beechwood is doing.
