  1. The Comets team sounds familiar , ever play around the No.Ky or Cincy area ? Spalding Played for the Louisville Lightning 2 years ago maybe . Pelham sounds familiar too , did he play for the Lightning ? Lightning was a very solid team that was very deep in pitching and played great defense . Rosters should be set by now ,anyone else making noise as a new kid on the block ? Keep it going , give the kids some credit . :thumb:
  2. cshs81 , What teams do you think will do well this year . It seems like all the talk was other regions so I put it out there .Simon Kenton has the chance to do good this year also .
  3. Ryle and Boone Co. should do very well this season out of No.Ky. :thumb:
  4. EQUUS GREVYI , I have to disagree about the strategy and defense of the fastpitch game . to think there is not strategy in the game is crazy , moving runners over and getting them in vs a good pitcher and defense is sometimes a chess match . Ther are few pitchers in high school that dominate the game . Allen from Ryle is one of them that can . I gues we just disagree on this , I think this game is great .I think there is more strategy in fastpitch than slowpitch . I have no facts on scholarships but would tend to think there is much more available than you may think . My daughter receives letters from schools regularly . This is not scholarships but I believe the money is there to get .
  5. Luke is the young man I am speaking of . I thought he was going to be a Bird . I hope he succeeds at whatever he does . Thanks for the info . :thumb:
  6. Does Highlands allow 8th graders to play ? If so does anyone know if a young man by the name of Schmits tried out and or made it .Great kid , hope the best for him
  7. This is all of the younger kids making the cut in the state ? Seems like there would be more .
  8. Although it may be possible by this year they have added speed on their pitches .Will not dispute the calibration needs to be checked though .:thumb:
  9. I know it is no longer sanctioned but this maybe the last year for it . It may have ended last year .I seen the likes of NCC on my daughters schedule .
  10. Where are you finding the schools schedules ? Just curious , would like to see them . Is Beechwood being written off already for next year ?
  11. http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=114578 Is this what you are looking for ?
  12. It is a shame AABC has gone away in your area . There is always the chance to play in the league in this area . This league has teams from all over as it was stated . If you are just lookig to play great teams it can be worked out . The teams work with each other to schedule games . The dayton area team came down last year and set it up play 2 teams from this area back to back .You can also set it up like a tourney without all the extras . Play 2 teams on Sat , stay the night and play 2 teams on Sun . These teams are very good . The team from Middletown won the tourney at Cooperstown , NY. as 12's and other teams from this league have gone up there and faired very well against teams from all over the country and players from all the world . If you have been there you know what I mean . It is amazing to watch the kids grow over the years . I CAN'T WAIT TO HERE PLAY BALL THIS YEAR . Best of luck to all of these young men .
  13. Where are the young men making a impact at the tryouts ? The 8 th and 9th graders , maybe even 7th graders that are going to make the cut this year .Who are they , where do they play and if you know who they play summer ball for . I've heard some talk about young talent but no names as of yet .Let's get the names out there . 3 WEEKS TO OPENING DAY !!
  14. I believe most schools started practice on Feb. 15 . This is the official day to begin . There are not any rules having to wait for basketball to be over . The basketball players are allowed to try out after that season is over but most schools know who the players are usually .
  15. Boone Co. does not have middle school programs to feed the high schools . The AABC league is great for no.Ky teams to play against better teams from Cincy and now Dayton and Indy teams are traveling in to this league because of the competition . Some good teams that are feeding the high schools starting this year are Ky. Sharks ,No. Ky. Monarchs , Bluegrass Knights and No. Ky. Bats . These teams will start the summer season late because many of them have 8 th graders that are going to make high school teams . A qoute from a high school I heard was that the best knothole kids are not even close to what the kids who have been playing select .This was his take on the kids trying out at his school . I know there are some very talented kids who play knothole , little league , cal ripken etc that could play select but do not for personal reasons . It just seems overall select players that play teams from all over are more prepared for high school ball .
  16. Where are the Kentucky kids staying home to play for UK ? At least Louisville and some others are keeping them in state . Kyle York from Ludlow has signed with Ohio Valley Univ . in West Virginia Congrats to these young men on furthering there education
  17. I've heard Ryle has a transfer from Arkansas or somewhere out that way . I have no idea of a name or anything . Only thing the guy said is he throws in the mid - 90's .That is pretty good for a high school kid . Not sure what grade he is in .
  18. Thanks Sportsfan . I should of been more specific . We live in No. Ky. Not sure we will see any of the teams from other areas unless he goes to state . Thanks again and best of luck .
  19. Anyone have insight on middle school programs ? Son is new to the sport (2nd year ) . Just curious to know how to compare when he goes against someone good or experienced .
