The coaching transition seems to be going very well due to the shear lack of change. That being said, Coach Clark is doing a fine job. Track is putting a dent in attendence as is inelligibility, which is a focal point of the team and staff. Otherwise the practices are going well; they are very intense and already, there is more infasis being put on special teams, especially kick-off coverage.

On monday, The Bardstown Tigers started their spring practice. They took it light on monday with some running and team-building excercises but starting tuesday they made all haste to pad up and hit somebody. The focus this year will be intensity!

I boldly predict Bardstown will not lose any game against a fellow "AA" opponent in the 2007 season.

Yes, they are on year round school, but they don't get three weeks. It's like two and a half though.

Their last basketball game was March 12th, the following monday would be the 19th and friday the 23rd is their last day before spring break. By starting the first day back from break, they squeeze in 10 practices in 15 SCHOOL days.

Bardstown will start when school resumes after spring break. The Track participants have to practice track first then football, but usually their track workout is very limited. Should have a good turnout for spring ball, but as everyone knows, the weeds will be pulled so to speak when 2-a-days go into full swing.

Bardstown should definitely be in the mix. They return a plethora of seniors.

Don't forget, Crittenden has to deal with Mayfield at least once next year, maybe twice. I'm not sure how Mayfield will be next year but imo, they can never be counted out.

I believe Nelson will be a force next year, and it seems the kids have bought into Bruner's program. I'm not sure who all will be in their district but I see no reason why they can't contend for a district championship.

In your opinion, for a certain class, does success at the lower high school levels parallel that on the varsity level?

We always have 2-hand-touch games the last 30 minutes of practice. Of course, the linemen have their own games.

I love being on the field on friday nights, and not in the stands. I like doing my trade while being watched; and best of all, knockin somebody flat on their back.

Bardstown could only get two local non-district schools to play them. They are playing two teams from Bowling Green just for an example.

For the past several years, in retrospect, Downs has been leaving more and more to Koontz and Clark as far as preparation and game plan. I think his choice has been made over a period of time. Not much will change under the new regime if Clark takes over because Downs has eased them into it. As mentioned above, Clark is an offensive genius, and Koontz, obviously is a mastermind on the other side of the ball so i believe the Tigers will be in good hands.

Yes, He and Coach Ron Koontz will still Coach the Kentucky All-Star team. I can tell you some things about Clark, what would you like to know?

Today, Coach Joey Downs announced to his players that he would be retiring as of today. Downs coached for 17 years at Bardstown and touched many kids, he will be missed to say the least. One can only speculate as to who the next Head Coach will be, but I believe the top candidate is offensive coordinator and athletic director, Coach David Clark.

The bowl game is in woodford co. and it's the second game of the season.

This should help him to get a bigger.

Hoover is the team on the MTV show "Two-A-Days," right?

Graves of Bardstown will move onto WKU, although he will "grayshirted" because they can only sign a certain number of recievers. In effect, it is a redshirt, but he doesnt get to practice with the team.
