Ah Graybeard I am reminded of a line in Star Wars when Luke finally blows up a TIE fighter as he and Han Solo attempt to escape the Death Escape and he screams "I got one!" Han Solo the experienced smuggler responds "Great job, just don't get cocky kid." Other than Mason Co no one else in Russell's district is that good. If they can get through the District playoffs their draw usually is pretty good until they have to go to Belfry. So yeah- the way their district is and the way the brackets are set up they can still go pretty far. And while Russell may have gotten pushed around last night doesn't mean they will get pushed around every game. I mean I was at Putnam a couple weeks ago and watched Raceland push Ashland all over the field. The Tomcats I watched last night were NOT the Tomcats I saw a few weeks ago. And that's not all because Russell played a bad game. So Ashland has proved to me that teams can change. When you have a Coach like Ivan McGlone I don't expect Russell to be pushed around very often for the remainder of the season. All that said this Halloween will be one game no one should miss. :thumb:

Tales of Ashland's demise have been greatly exaggerated. Tales of Russell's greatness have also been greatly exaggerated. This might be a wake-up call, but this is one Russell fan who thinks it was more a Dateline NBC story that exposed the Devils as simply "not as good" as that last couple of seasons. IMO that is nothing to be ashamed of. They still will win 7-8 games and go deep playoffs but I don't know that they will contend for a pizza box trip this season. But here is to hoping they prove me wrong. Forget the Super 7, the North-east Ky Top 10 is the only poll that matters. maybe we can get an Ashland pollster now! :ylsuper:

Haven't seen Ashland since the Raceland game, but Raceland and Russell aren't that different. Both have great running backs, solid quarterbacks, and tough lines. Raceland played a lot of power running against Ashland and the Tomcats didn't have much of an answer. Had Raceland held on to the ball (and stuck with the power running game IMO) they would have easily beat the Tomcats. If Russell doesn't make many mistakes (and they usually don't) I forsee a Red Devil victory. Russell 31 Ashland 21

I am still awaiting a couple of polls to come in for the BGP Poll. They have about half an hour to get them in but its looking to be quite different than the "Super" 7 so far.

Very sad indeed. We never know when our time here is through. Be prepared. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Tomcat Community and the Nichols family. He was 28 so I am guessing 95-98?

Oh and if someone doesn't vote the teams just receive a 0 from that pollster so it won't hurt their rankings.

I am going to make this real simple for everyone. Once you volunteer I will PM you with a number. That's your number. When you submit your top 10 do it like this: Week X Top 10 Pollster #YOUR NUMBER HERE and then list teams 1-10 HOW THIS WILL WORK: I have made a spreadsheet with all 15 teams. Once you send me your rankings I'll enter them in your slot so if anyone wants to know "How They voted" I can easily go to Pollster #4 and see his or her Top 10. Each team then gets the number of points equal to their rank. For instance if JC is a consensus number one everyone will rank them "1" and the spreadhseet will total their ranking. In this case it would be 15. The LOWER THE SCORE THE HIGHER ON THE TOP TEN the teams go. For another example let's take Fairview. Our mythical pollsters ranked them: Fairview 3 5 8 2 2 5 5 3 7 2 3 5 5 5 5 Total Points-65 JC's 16 points ranks them above Fairview. A team that is not ranked on one poll but is ranked on another gets 11 points for every pollster who does not rank them. I'm doing this way because I think it helps offset the bias. A Raceland guy may rank Russell lower because you know....they are Russell and vice versa. However with polls coming in from over the region it offsets someone like OldRambler ranking Russell 10th and FootballF@n ranking them 1st etc. Not saying that would EVER happen :sssh:, but you know I think it gives more unbiased picture. So in summation a teams ranking is the number of points they get. A team ranked 7 by Pollster #4 gets 7 points added to wherever they are ranked on other polls. A team that doesn't get ranked by everyone gets 11 points from each pollster that did not rank them. Every week I will post the spreadsheet somewhere (I don't think we attach Excel files to posts can we?) for anyone who wants to download it and also for Pollsters to make sure I entered their Top 10 correctly. I will NEVER ID a Pollster. If you want to identify yourselves go right ahead. I hope we get some good participation in this. POLLS WILL BE DUE BY 8AM MONDAY MORNING. And I will do my best to get them up no later than Noon on Mondays.

Well then that requires everyone agreeing on who the voters should be. Good luck with that! But if you guys can come to consensus on no more than 15 voters I will be more than happy to post it every Monday.

It could work though if Ram set up so certain people who follow those schools could vote on it like a AP Poll. Like pick 10-15 rabid posters that post the most about the games have them each send in their Top 5 by Monday morning and then score each team based on their average spot in the polls. The team with lowest average score (meaning they were ranked the highest) would be #1 and so on. I think that would be pretty cool.

I was trying to think of something witty or snarky thing to say so I could get quoted in the paper again, but I pretty much agree with the list. Dang paper getting things right. :lol:

Awesome game Rams. The Rams started cramping and showing wear and tear in the 3rd. Ashland took advantage of being able to sub more and with fresh legs tied the game up. Raceland players gut checked on the sidelines before overtime and pulled off an outstanding victory. Carver and Denton had great games and Boyles played great hobbling through most of the second half with cramps. Raceland's o-line played an outstanding game. Got to hold on to that ball though. Ashland has some talent. I don't think they will be down long, but they have a tough one against Pikeville next Friday. Good luck Tomcats. and WAY TO GO RAMS!!!!!

Imagine how dominate Greenup could have been with Aunt "Large" Marge on the line. She would have been dominate and allowed the Petite, but feisty, Aunt Velma "Va'room" all the field she needed to score. And once in the end zone they would celebrate with milk, cookies, and a Virginia Slim. :thumb: Somebody call Coach Sammons and tell him to get the KHSAA to give these fine women ONE MORE YEAR of eligibility!

Well dang Graybeard. I was going to come to the game tomorrow night but now I might as well stay home or go to Greenup. Sounds like it won't be much of a game. I don't believe that. Kinda hard to think a team is the best ever when they have yet to play a down. Or beat East Carter. If they are as good as Greybeard's hype they wouldn't lose games they should win. Man is it getting hot in here or is just me? :lol: I am, and will always be a Raceland fan first and foremost.

I think this game will be a T.O. Special "Better Get Your Popcorn Ready!" And I will be there with my popcorn and a refreshing soda and rooting for the Rams. This one will be a close one. I say Raceland 21-20.
