This idea came from another thread. The Red Rambler has agreed to compile a "North-Eastern Kentucky top 10" for the North-Eastern Kentucky fans.

 

If you are from a different region, please feel free to start the same kind of event for your region. It would be great if we had a "Fans poll" for each region of the state.

 

How this will work: there are 15 football playing schools in North-Eastern Kentucky, each school will have a representative, if someone from each school is willing to participate. If a school does not get a representative, then we will continue with the representative that we have.

 

Each person who is willing to be a voting representative, please list your username in this thread and what school you represent. After Friday the 5th this thread will be closed and a "Ballot thread will be opened with all the people willing to be a "Voting representative" names listed and the people from the area can vote for one person for each school. If the members of a school would like to get together and nominate only one rep that is exceptable also.

 

Each week, by Monday, the "Voting Reps" will be responsible for sending their top 10 in order to The Red Rambler and he will compile the votes by the number they are given by each "Voting Rep" and will then post the weekly "North-Eastern Kentucky Top 10".

 

We need representatives from the following schools:

Ashland

Boyd County

Fairview

Raceland

Russell

Greenup County

Lawrence County

Johnson Central

Paintsville

East Carter

West Carter

Rowan County

Morgan County

Magoffin County

Lewis County

I am going to make this real simple for everyone. Once you volunteer I will PM you with a number. That's your number. When you submit your top 10 do it like this:

 

Week X Top 10 Pollster #YOUR NUMBER HERE

and then list teams 1-10

 

HOW THIS WILL WORK:

 

I have made a spreadsheet with all 15 teams. Once you send me your rankings I'll enter them in your slot so if anyone wants to know "How They voted" I can easily go to Pollster #4 and see his or her Top 10. Each team then gets the number of points equal to their rank. For instance if JC is a consensus number one everyone will rank them "1" and the spreadhseet will total their ranking. In this case it would be 15. The LOWER THE SCORE THE HIGHER ON THE TOP TEN the teams go.

 

For another example let's take Fairview.

Our mythical pollsters ranked them:

 

Fairview 3 5 8 2 2 5 5 3 7 2 3 5 5 5 5

Total Points-65

 

JC's 16 points ranks them above Fairview.

 

A team that is not ranked on one poll but is ranked on another gets 11 points for every pollster who does not rank them.

 

I'm doing this way because I think it helps offset the bias. A Raceland guy may rank Russell lower because you know....they are Russell and vice versa. However with polls coming in from over the region it offsets someone like OldRambler ranking Russell 10th and FootballF@n ranking them 1st etc. Not saying that would EVER happen :sssh:, but you know I think it gives more unbiased picture.

 

So in summation a teams ranking is the number of points they get. A team ranked 7 by Pollster #4 gets 7 points added to wherever they are ranked on other polls. A team that doesn't get ranked by everyone gets 11 points from each pollster that did not rank them.

 

Every week I will post the spreadsheet somewhere (I don't think we attach Excel files to posts can we?) for anyone who wants to download it and also for Pollsters to make sure I entered their Top 10 correctly. I will NEVER ID a Pollster. If you want to identify yourselves go right ahead.

 

I hope we get some good participation in this.

 

POLLS WILL BE DUE BY 8AM MONDAY MORNING. And I will do my best to get them up no later than Noon on Mondays.

Good job TRR, I will leave this in your capable hands, it is now yours completely. I know you will do a great job. I hope this catches on.

Oh and if someone doesn't vote the teams just receive a 0 from that pollster so it won't hurt their rankings.

I'll volunteer for Boyd County if you still need one.

Just a note...oldrambler woud never rank Raceland, Russell (or anyone esle) lower or higher than he thought that they should be bc that he liked or disliked anyone. He may not like some teams, but he can be fair and balanced......

 

Anyway, oldrambler is not applying for this position (even though he does know what he is talking about;)) .

I can confirm both of these statements bc I happen to know oldrambler personally and have spoken to him just recently.

(at least that's what these voices in my head keep saying :sssh:)

 

These ratings should be fun to follow though. Last season we had a mythical NEKC football conference and it was fun to go along with as well. I believe that Russell ended up #1 and Raceland #2 in that one, not 100% sure though.

I hope all the voluteers are willing to be objective and honest. If they are going to be petty and short sighted then this would never work, you might as well stick with the Super 7. I for one would like for us to have something a little more accurate, by those who are interested in the high school sports and would look all the available information at hand.

^ I think that we will get a good representation out of this. At least I would certainly hope so.

I can do Lawrence if you don't get anybody.

I can handle JC if no one else wants to.

I'll take Raceland, unless someone else has taken it......(like Old Rambler)
