Just stating the facts Mr. King. Were you the promoter for Rose Hill, or do you just promote Roy Jones?

Elliott lost the game not because Rose Hill dominated them, but because they had a very off night. Some of the Elliott fans made the comment during the warm ups that Elliott was not shooting the ball well and would possibly lose. Elliott shot 28% from the field and it was a 1pt ball game with 56 seconds left, that does'nt sound like domination to me, and does'nt say much for Rose Hill. Those that say Elliott did'nt have open looks evidently was not at the game, because Ferguson who was 2 of 15 from the field had several wide open looks that did'nt fall, as did others. They missed 11 shot within 3 ft of the goal. Rose Hill gave them their best shot and barely squeaked out a win, so the fans and posters should'nt be too egotistical, when it was a 1 point game with 56 seconds left, and Rose Hill being one of the big boys playing a little old puny school as Elliott county. Were you even at the game "Mole"?

I will help explain IMO. If Miller had not been allowed to get by with the fouls Mason would not have won. In the replay on one of his fouls you could see the LC player had the ball and Miller reached in and had hold of both of the LC player hands causing him to loose the ball and the ref called a jump ball, giving Mason possession.

They also did'nt play nearly as aggressive defense as they do today. How do I know " I played during that time".:banana::banana::ylsuper:

If I had this young man on my team I would tell him to shoot, shoot, shoot. According to the ADI he has a 15 game FG% of 50 - 3pt% of 40.44 - FT% of 79.3 that is really good in anyones book. Yes I would want him to shoot a "Lot"

Have just read the JBS 110 South Floyd 39 and the Corbin 85 Williamsburg 43 threads,and starters in with 3 min. left,and no one is crying and complaining about those wins. Why is some whinning about Elliott. Yes Mays did sub to the 9th player in the first half, and called off the press start of the second half otherwise the spread could have been much larger, so he did have compassion for the West Carter team. As I have stated in previous threads I am not from Elliott County, but do like to follow the team.

I have heard and seen post that Ferguson is a very unselfish player, did he just pass the ball to teammates so they could score instead of shooting himself? Was just wondering why he had 18 before the first half ended and only 5 more points the rest of the game. Looks as tho Elliott is back to their usual game. Wish them the best in the all A tournament.

According to the announcer Ferguson had 18 points before the first half ended, did he not play the second half to only finish out with 23 points? Congratulation to Ferguson on the 2000 points.

The original post about Ferguson takeing a beating was from "bball jones61st" post #33, if you will read his post you will see that he was not only talking about last nights game with East, but two other games he had observed in the 16th region. To those who have observed many games Ferguson has played in the 16th region most will acknowledge very few calls are made when he gets clobbered. Wheather the refs are venting their animosity toward him I do not know, however I do know that he takes a beating without calls in the 16th region, which makes it appear that the refs have a vendetta of some kind. You did acknowledge some contact that was not called veryifying the post that he is getting hammered.:confused:

If scorekeeper stopped game why was Baker standing at the scorekeepers table before the game was stopped? I personally was not referring to Fergusons 3 point shots, but the clobbering he took inside.:ylsuper:

To start, I am not from Elliott county, but have seen several of their games, I also was at the East Carter and Elliott game last night. The game was very tight most of the game, however I did observe Coach Mays useing three of his bench in the first half and in the second half periodically, so to say he does'nt use his bench is unjustified. I also agree with "bball jones61st" post as to the refs in the 16th region failing to make calls when the Ferguson kid gets totally clobbered. I too think that the refs let this happen intentionally for some reason. Could it be because they have a vendetta with some of his family, if so this is very unethical behavior for any adult, much less an official to penalize a child for something someone else may or may not have done. That being said East Carter seemed to come prepared for Elliott and played a very good game. It seemed when Baker went to the score table for some reason and stopped the game for about 5 minutes he changed the momentum of the game, not sure how much Elliott was ahead at that time, but was around 15 points, and the tide turned to East from that time forward. I personally thought that was the purpose for his delaying the game, because Elliott was on a roll untill that happened. Not sure what the stoppage was for, but the refs should not let things like this happen especially for that long. When you are hot you are hot and stoppages can take that away.:fire:

When a player is not getting the playing time he thinks should, why not tell him "as I have told some of my young relatives" just practice more and harder so he can get better than other players, thereby getting more playing time. Everyone should know that a coach is going to play the player that is best for the team first, because he wants to win as well as the players. One of the reasons for having any contest is to see who can win and playing the oldest player is not always going to do that. Kids should be taught to be the best they can be, but if someone is better except their place wherever it may be and they will be an asset to the team in that position. Every one can't be President.

If the older player isn't as good playing as the younger, or his talent does'nt help the team as much as the younger the older should be the sub and the younger should be the starter. The idea of playing politics, or age factor is not good for any team. Sorry to disagree, but it is true.

This was a good win for Elliott against an out of State opponent. Does any one have the stats? The only stat I have is Ferguson with 34.

Another nice win for Elliott County. Their shooting seems to off a bit the last three games, but they still are winning. The ADI said the team shot 43.5 field goal percentage, and 24 of 26 free throws, which is 92.3% which isn't too bad over all shooting. Bootstrap: stated Ferguson was 2nd leading scorer in the state I'am sure that took a lot of work and time to gain that status, so why should we crucify him for getting 40 points in a blow out? In a horse race does the Jockey hold his horse back when he is in the lead so the others can catch up and maybe win? As for players getting hurt they can get hurt in the first minute of the game just as well as the last minute of the game, so should the coach not play a player for fear of getting hurt the first minute of the game also?

I agree with your assesment of the Ferguson kid he is not just a scorer as some portray him, but he has a lot of steals, and his defense is awesome, also late in the Fleming game he had several offensive rebound and put backs for the Lions which helped them pull away from Fleming County. He seems to have a knack for getting open and seems to get overlooked sometimes when he is wide open, however the team seems to be clicking on all 8 cylinders.

ca If??????that is the rule then the refs should be consistent in calling the T. To call one player and not the other is unsportsmanship also. As I stated before in all the games I have watched only one player that has been called for screaming with excitement and he has been called twice in the past two to three years this makes us old country boys think that a little unethical shenanigans is going on. How many players have you seen called for screaming with excitment the last 5 years, and how many times have you heard the sportsmanship card read before a High School boys basketball game? As for myself, I have been to dozen's in the past 5 years and have yet to hear the card read!!!!!: Maybe we need to have public media announcement about these rules. My curiousity was stirred after reading your post, so I ran a poll and no one has ever heard or seen this take place throughout the state of Kentucky.

I see this "if he wanted to" different times in BGP post. What I have observed through the many years is that players will do all they are capable of in a game. After all that is the reason for playing!! If a frog had wing he wouldnt bump his bottom every time he hopped.

The Ref should call consistent,if he is calling a T for one player screaming, he should call a T for any player that screams. The player from Rowan turned toward the player he blocked and was fairly close to him and screamed and no call was made. I have watched a lot of games and have never seen a T called on any other player for screaming with excitement after a shot, but have seen two such calls called on Ferguson. Surely the refs in the 16th region would'nt make a call against a player because a fan, or fans were taunting them at games that Ferguson plays in, that would be very unethical to vent their flustration upon a player because of the taunting of a fan or fans, but when humans are involved anything is possible.
