Right!! Mercer Russell was a good game last year, and the better team won that night. I predict the same kind of game only much closer. If it WERE to happen, (both teams would have to beat some very good teams in the playoffs) I personally think it would be a nail biter. But fun to watch.. Just resign yourself to the fact that every Mercer thread will be hijacked about the fact that with the merge, Mercer absorbed 200 students and were left in 2A. Nothing Mercer can do about it. (The merge or the pointless discussion):sleep:

How big they are is just over 900 enrollment. This puts us squarely in current 3A enrollment numbers. Of course some on here would have you believe they are now an X or T size school playing for a middle school title. Think of the scheduling fallout for Mercers current district teams as well as whatever new district they would be assigned to. Quite a few teams being dropped from schedules and just as many scrambling for replacement games. The debate is really not about whether or not Mercer has an advantage..(they do) rather it is about some folks desire to have Mercer be apologetic for it (they won't). They will also be fans; excited, proud, etc.... There are fans of several schools (Russell, Belfry, Western....) and others who understand that this is the way it is going to be this year and correctly think that they have a very good shot at winning a matchup with Mercer Co. IMHO this is the way winners deal with controversy. Mercer has no better shot at winning a title this year than a handful of teams that I have mentioned, because they are not better than Russell, Western, Belfry, and a few others.

I didn't have a program.....what grade is the QB for North Oldham? He throws a very nice ball, and his TD was put in the perfect spot in the corner of the endzone.

You misinterpreted...there certainly is no gloating about beating North Oldham. I think everyone realizes what a challenge it is for class kids and good coaches to start up a program. Just pointing out an interesting fact, and updating the fans that couldn't drive up. (One of the neat things about this site......):thumb: The problem arises when Mercer threads are hijacked to beat on the dead horse of the merge and not being moved up in class. Here's a newsflash....Mercer is playing where they are assigned to play. Period. You don't like it......they don't care. But you don't get the right to tell Mercer fans not to be excited about their season, or post about it. You, like many others just have a problem with the merge. And I, like many others could care less what your feelings are about it.

Cool your jets. You're on the tail end of the merge bash bandwagon and it is just tired by now. But maybe you have a point, without the merge, this would have been a real squeaker. Good luck to North Oldham, and BOTH of the first ever 4 yr. seniors on their team. You deserve to win a few this year.
