He left Powell and why, I think the administration wanted to go in a different direction, but do not hold me to it. He went to Phelps and resigned there and is still teaching until they are out. I think I read somewhere or was told that he couldn't get a weightlifting class. :confused:

I thought Preston was the home school coordinator at Rowan Co. while he was there. As for as teaching, I thought he taught Social Studies/History at Danville while he was there.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which reported Propst’s hiring on its Web site Tuesday night, Propst said he liked the challenge of Georgia’s Region 1-AAAAA, which he called "one of the toughest this country has. "When you talk about Valdosta, Lowndes, Colquitt County, Northside, Warner Robins, they know where that is. That’s what excites me about this job — the traditions of these South Georgia towns." Advertisement Propst won five Alabama state titles in nine seasons at Hoover. Propst told The Birmingham News this morning he accepted the Colquitt County job in part because it is a one-school town. "It’s all about Packer football in this county," he said. "There’s one school and you feel like everybody is pulling for one deal." Propst declined to say how much money he will make except to say it is "very, very close" to what he made at Hoover. "There will be some benefits and things that can be better. Hoover was just a base salary," said Propst, whose base salary at Hoover was $100,678. Propst resigned in October amid an academic scandal at the high school and questions about his personal life and outside income. "I was just honest with (Colquitt County) and told them the truth, and they checked it out and felt like I was their guy," Propst said. "I think the (Pointer) report helps me in a lot of areas. I think the report exonerates me in about everything but pressuring the teacher, and they investigated that situation and know what it’s about and really had no problem with it." Unlike at Hoover, Propst said, he will spend most of his time coaching. Propst said it felt as if he spent 90 percent of his time at Hoover raising money. "What was really impressive to me was their gate receipts were triple what Hoover brings in on Friday nights," Propst said. "They want to win football games. I wouldn’t be here if they didn’t." Colquitt County has been without a head coach since Dec. 7, when Tim Cokely resigned after the Packers went 2-8 in 2007. During his three years, he posted a 14-18 record. I have heard they hired a former alumni - Maxwell Maliki as running back coach.

How much time is left?

I believe he help Coach Todd Harris get the program started for 2 years, and took this past year off as full time assistant, but helped on Fridays due to a health issue. I know he was known at Jackson Co. for basketball and was told he is a knowledgeable person.

Apparently I had caused a fuss about Preston and my opinion. I in no way tried to say anything negative about Doug. I just posted what I've heard and read on here. I was not stating any rumors, just putting a post in my own words from things I've read on BGP and things I've heard from outside sources. So in regards, Mike Check and whomever else may be upset towards my posts, I apologize. I wish Doug and his family the best. :thumb:
