I thought so but he's producing the stats, so didn't know if college coaches would think they would work with him on technique/mechanics in college. I've heard others say though that his coaches should have got him out of all the sidearm throwing in middle school.

Has Mathews ,QB, from Shelby had any scholarship offers?

I've not seen him play but heard others talk about poor mechanics and sidearm throwing. I haven't heard of any college offers, will this technique/mechanics make a difference to the college coaches, such as EKU?

There are about 16 total players left (Jv and varsity combined)after the seniors leave. Of course, this doesn't count incoming freshman and any that decide to play with new coaches.

I wouldn't think they would have any assistants that could take the head coach position, but I think the head coach is recommending one of them. It was a very discouraging year for the players. They have 10 seniors (starters)graduating and that will be difficult for the upcoming team next year.

This year there were alot of talented seniors who worked hard and the team as a whole should have had a lot better record than they did.

Sounds like you've seen him play. Do you agree with a previous poster that he should be getting offers from Western, Eastern, and Middle Tenn State ?

oh, ok. Thanks. So would a coach just contact a player and instead of a scholarship, offer a preferred walk-on status???? Or would this happen more likely if a player was contacting the coach and he knew their would not be a scholarship but still thought the player could play and would tell them then?

For preferred walk-ons, when do they try out then? Or does the coach just invite them to be a preferred walk-on without a try out? When scholarship offers are going around in the winter, are some players invited then to be a preferred walk-on?

so if a player maybe gets NAIA offer but wants to play D1AA, then he has to decide about walking-on. Do most teams have tryouts at the end of the summer, and for students who are already enrolled at their school. I'm sure walking-on is a hard way to go to get playing time, but it seems most teams have walkons. any comments about walking-on teams.

So does that mean that NAIA will wait and do offers after 1-AA offers are wrapped up?

Are D1AA(or now D1subdivision),NAIA, Division 2, all recruiting at the same time, like you said starting more in January?

Exactly, and alot of teams play tough teams like this all season long, and Lone Oak won't face that level of competition until the final game of the playoffs. Will they play any quality teams before finals in playoffs? Surely ...

Obviously eveyone recognizes this,including college coaches, and that's too bad he didn't try to play in a challenging game or two. It'll be interesting to see what his team will do if they ever get to Bell Co or a similar team.

Lone Oak won't have a chance against a team like Bell co .or Lexington Catholic. They don't even try to play competitive teams...so they don't even have ANY experience facing teams like Bell co.
