GRIDMANIAC Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 With the playoffs starting this Friday, what teams do you think will have a shot at winning the state title? From what I have seen, I like Lex Cath, Bell Co., Franklin Co., Bullit East and Lone Oak. What teams do you think will be playing in the semi-finals and the finals?
Cynical Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Bullitt East beat Larue Co. 28-14. Two weeks later, Warren East beat them 40-14 and was up 40 to 0 at the half before pulling all their starters. I have a feeling that District 3 has been a bit over rated this year. Though I must say that Bullitt East's performances the last two weeks have been impressive. Lone Oak has yet to be slowed down but scraped by Calloway and will have to do it again to survive. We will see what they do when they have to play teams with a pulse in the 3rd and 4th rounds...assuming they get there. Warren East laid an egg against O-Cath, but has bounced back somewhat being competitive against BG and waxing Larue. They will have to deal with Franklin Simpson for a 2nd time, which is never easy. Lex Cath and Bell are on a collision course for one another in what should be the best game of the 4A playoffs...that is if Lex Cath gets by Boyle...you never know. Franklin Co. could be the sleeper. They certianly have the easiest of the 4 brackets to the Semi's. That could bode well for them staying healthy. How good is Louisville Valley?
mh2365 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I wouldn't read much into comparing scores of a district game to a non district game. Valley looks pretty good. Should be another good game between them and Fairdale. Fairdale can play with anyone if they are on their game. Franklin County has a cake walk to the final 4 .... could help them as mentioned above but could hurt them if they don't get tested at all. I think it comes down to Lex. Cath, Bell County and Franklin on one side and the winner of North Bullitt/Bullitt East, Warren East and Lone Oak on the other.
GRIDMANIAC Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 Does Franklin County have a shot? Not being tested truly until round 4 could they win that round vs a tough opponent in bell or lex cath and possibly win state?
Qb7footballfan Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Lone Oak won't have a chance against a team like Bell co .or Lexington Catholic. They don't even try to play competitive teams...so they don't even have ANY experience facing teams like Bell co.
sprocket Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Don't discount Fairdale. After being blown out by Male in the first game of the season they lost only two games by three points combined. The Valley loss was a gift to Valley. The Fairdale coach was disciplining several (4 or 5, I believe) starters that played both ways. This allowed Valley to jump out to an 18-0 lead while these starters were on the bench during the first half. Fairdale still nearly won the ball game. The other loss to Doss was the worst game I've seen Fairdale play this year and they still would have won the game if the center didn't blow the snap on a 19 yard field goal with less than 10 seconds in the game. If Mills is on, Fairdale can put some points up on anyone in 4A.

I believe that after the first round FC will be tested I dont believe they will walk by Harrison, or the in the region teams who get there will have won 3 more games and that makes anything possible.
