  1. The talent level at Wburg maybe running a bit thin. From the picture in the paper, they have about as many coaches and support personal as they do healthy players in uniform. I agree a close game that South wins in the 4th quarter. Not sure Thomas can get big yards against the Cards which makes the game needing to be won by Moses, Brown and Petit.
  2. I am sure Foley will be in the backfield since Fritts is not able to go this evening. On defense, I would say Hoover to Safety and Sowders moving up to a Backer position. Those are strictly guesses on my part. Fans will have to show up tonight to see who gets in at what positions.
  3. Not sure Fritts will play and Jewell maybe questionable due to an ankle injury as well. I could be wrong on Jewell, but I about 100 % positive Fritts will not be playing this week.
  4. I would say it would be close......32 years of coaching....it would say he is about . 500....which is not bad considering the size of the schools he has played out of district over the years. I am sure he could have had better numbers with selective scheduling. Mitchell has never feared for his job and thus no need to pad his stats. He can survive a 2 win season. The same can not be said for very many in the area. If Lynn Camp had the facilities they have now back in the mid 80's then I am sure his record would be more impressive. It is better to try and fall short rather than not try to play the best and claim moral victories. I think Coach Mitchell has always tried to win 6 games and advance in the post season, rather than get 9 wins and be home after the first or second round. Mitchell is a legend for one reason or another.
  5. That is true. Could have been the reason he decide to backpeddle a bit. It was an interesting play to say the least. Maybe he would learn about the level and speed of play on the JV level while others with more experience can get the varsity minutes. Guess we will see come Friday against the Green Dragons of Harlan. Football is a hard game and tough to pick up after not playing for many years. I am sure all the Hounds will have a great week of fun at practice and be eager to hit the field this week.
  6. Very True. I know LC has a talented group of 9th graders this year. With a few transfers likely on the way next year, Lynn Camp may be back in the hunt for a state Championship sooner than many think.
  7. One thing about it. I am sure not one of the Lynn Camp players, coaches or fans are afraid to show up and let the chips fall where they may. The worst thing that can happen is a loss. Coach Mitchell has always scheduled tough opponents. He has played Corbin, Whitley, North Laurel, Rock, Somerset, Clay and many other schools instead of loading the schedule in order to get X number of wins each season. I would really like to see Coach Mitchell take one of his Lynn Camp teams to the carpet before he decides to retire. It would be a a fitting end to his successful career.
  8. Whitley will want to keep LC on the schedule, so no need to run it up on the Wildcats this season. I would say around 42 to 12 in favor of the Colonels. The has been a series where LC and Whitley have played each year for over 25 years. That is more than most area teams can say. LC has dodged no one and continues to play even when the odds are stacked against them. They are not like most local teams and only want to play the big boys when they feel they are loaded. I commend Coach Mitchell and the Cats for providing their school and fans with a tough schedule each and every season.
  9. Whitley suffered some injuries in the game with Lex. Cath. Not sure if Lebanion will be playing or not. This is always a good game. Lynn Camp will need to throw the ball to offset the run defense of the Colonels. I think Whitley is better than Clay County. I look for Whitley to win by a large margin.
  10. Probably trying to avoid a defender, but that is strictly a guess.:sssh:
  11. No love lost in this series. I recall Jellico having a female player score on Wburg a few years back during the Bob Rose era. Wburg of course, had the great Beth Bates in the 80's who kicked for the team and gained fame by scoring on the Blue Devils. The coaches from those two teams maybe long gone, but there are still fans around both programs who share a common passion for beating each other. It is things like this that make for some good natured rivalries. No doubt the last TD was a reminder of days and events gone by.
  12. Jumpers turns it over and KC has the ball 1:39 and counting 3rd and nine.
  13. 17 to 16 Jumpers. Barger goes for his second TD off the game for the Panthers. This kid can play. He along with the Freshman Jeff Canady are the most effective players for KC. Manning the Qb for Somerset is having a huge game for the Jumpers. 5 minutes left in the 3rd.
  14. Who are the kids from Georgia, Oklahoma that have joined the Hounds? When do they become eligible? Will any of them give some support on the line? Every little bit helps.
  15. Whitley made a lot of mistakes and could have won the game if they had eliminated the flags. Will Catholic come to Colonel stadium next year and return the game? I am sure Coach Black will have the attention of his team as they prepare for their next game with Lynn Camp. Barring another 20 plus penalty performance, the Colonels should be ready to enter the victory column next week. Other than Bell Co, Whitley may have the best squad in the tri county area.
  16. Is that KenDale Reid? Those are three super athletes for the Tigers.
  17. Sounds like it Skin. Heard that J.V.Hooker looked really good at QB tonight. He may be a more effective passer than many expected. He has the bloodlines to be a big time prospect.
  18. I agree, if you got it then you got it........off season workouts, lifting weights, spring practice, and summer passing scrimmages are vastly over rated and appear to mean very little when it comes to playing time. If you got talent the rest means very little. Why I could practice all year and not beat Jordan in a game of one on one...:thumb:
  19. Lynn Camp may not score against their first three opponents. How did Patrick Baker do for the Campers? I think he is a tailback?
  20. Whitley has been hit with around 20 penalty flags in this game. I know they have been hit with 3 15 yarders in the fourth quarter alone. Seems the Colonels shot themselves in the foot in this one. :irked:
  21. Fredrick has been a pretty devoted football player and should help on both sides of the ball. Hoover has not played since 6th grade and must be doing something right in practice with only 3 weeks of practice, he has moved into the rotation as WR and DB.
  22. How would you rate the Corbin passing attack? What about the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball? Two big plays resulted in scores for the Hounds. I did not see the long drives. With many players going both ways. You are right many things to improve on
  23. Not sure about that but I will say, I think the Hounds have the talent. When this talent all decides to play as hard as they can then the results will be pleasing to all of us Hound fans. Not sure what the reason is for the " going thru the Motions" , but it will have to be corrected if the Hounds are going to advance deep in the playoffs. Of course, it is August and much improvement will take place between now and November. I also think Mitchell Fredrick could be a weapon for the Hounds if he was used on offense. I feel he is one of the better athletes on the field and could contribute in the backfield or perhaps as a WR. He maybe the secret weapon that the coaches are holding out til the right time.
  24. Watkins broke on a 75 yard run and Taylor on about a 50 yard run. Harlan scored on a longer drive with the pass mixed in. Number 24 looked good for the Bears and the fullback had a nice game as well. Corbin never looks to show alot in scrimmages. Linebackers played well. I expect them to look much better once they unleash things a bit.
  25. Morris 5'8 240 Manns 6'4 275 Mills 5'10 235 Smallwood 6'4 185 Lewallen 5'9 240 Osborne 5'9 185 Harp 5'6 175 Howington 5'9 190 These guys played the line for most of the night as far as I could tell.
