Great comeback by Catholic. Has to be a very disappointing loss for Whitley Co.

This was what I expected. No shame in this one. Good learning game against a very good team in front of a hostile crowd. If you let LexCath into the 40's, you are going to lose most of the time. BUT: WCHS did hang up over 30 of their own.

 

They'll be mad at our place next week......

Good to see the Knights start off the season right. Looks like the firepower on offense is set for LC, but should be a tough one next Saturday in the Bluegrass Bowl against Cov Cath. Go Knights! :ylsuper:

Whitley made a lot of mistakes and could have won the game if they had eliminated the flags. Will Catholic come to Colonel stadium next year and return the game? I am sure Coach Black will have the attention of his team as they prepare for their next game with Lynn Camp. Barring another 20 plus penalty performance, the Colonels should be ready to enter the victory column next week. Other than Bell Co, Whitley may have the best squad in the tri county area.

Whitley was penalized for 180 yards .... !!!!!! Yikes !!!!!

 

They outgained Catholic 478 yards to 432. Whitley ran for 384 yards and led 33-14 with 10:18 remaining in the game.

33 - 14 with less than 11 minutes left. 3 quick touchdowns by Knights. Included long kickoff return by Greg Ragland. Then an almost perfect onside kick by kicker Benton Hupman.

Whitley was without starting quarterback Jamie Lebanion for most of the second half, but Travis Inman did a great job backing up Lebanion.

CovCath gave up 400+ rushing tonite vs. Ryle and one kid had 232 yds. on 6 returns?? Guessing LexCath will score some points??

That was a CovCath kid who had 232 return yards.
