Competing and winning are two different things IMO. The Margin shocks me. Middlesboro has the best talent along with Lynn Camp.

Rich is not from Harlan HDE, his wife is...lol But Prewitt may have had the most talented teams ever at WHS with the Cornett boys back in the day.

This kinda shoots down the theory that Pineville will win the All A this year. What did Bell do to Strange to keep him under 30?

I agree, If he tops Coach Alan Leforce, ETSU top ten ranking and upset of Arizona in the NCAA, then he will no doubt be the best in history.

Shows how quickly things can be turned around in the high school game of basketball. I recall a couple of seasons ago when South beat Williamsburg in the district by around 30 points and Coach Wright was upset that a reporter asked him why the margin of victory was not more. He stepped on some toes by mentioning it did his team no good to beat Williamsburg by 50 points, instead of giving the Burg any credit for playing better than they did in the regular season matchups. The old saying is true...every dog has their day in the sunshine and the Burg maybe turning the corner and seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel.

I can not wait to hear the details on this game. Heard Williamsburg was ahead at the end of the first 15-11 and the game was tied at the half 29-29. Nothing more after that as I drove out of radio range it appears. Sportsfan will fill us in with the details. Wonder what the foul count was in this one? Radio guy mentioned a 3 point goal by South in the first half that hit the guidewire then fell through and was counted? If this is true, the final score would have been the other way around. I am not sure about what happened but I recall the comment that the wire was still shaking as Coach Robinson pleaded with the officals to not count the basket..

This could be the kind of game Zollo and the Cards need to begin a long run towards Rupp. Congrats on the win.

You could be onto something there Sportfan. Hounds are a very strong team, that has obviously been well conditioned in the weightroom by their coaches. The normal bumps and body contact does not seem to bother them as compared to most teams in the 13th. After playing South on Monday, report back to BGP about the calls and no calls and see if your opinion changes. Teague is a nice player on the blocks. If he got more touches in the second half the result could have been different.

I do not think it was a poorly called 3rd quarter. I think the Hounds got a wakeup call at halftime and decide to play with a bit more effort. Williamsburg lost composure in the 3rd and wilted at the first sign of advertisy IMO. How many technicals has the one player who was T'd up already received this season? I think his verbal expressions led to the Technical more than his physical actions. As a result a close game became a wide margin in a few short trips down the floor. I would also agree that the shot selection of the Jackets worsened during this stretch as well. Good thing about it is these two teams will matchup in a couple of weeks at Gillium gym.

Lexington Christian has a nice team and they are very well coached by Tommy Huston. Corbin take on Jackson County and Wayne County next.

Final from Lexington Catholic Dunkin Doughnut Classic. Hounds were down 12 at the half before rallying to get the win. Josh Crawford had a big game with around 29 points and 14 rebounds for the Hounds.

UK needs to seriously consider him. He is putting up huge numbers and is 6'9. This kid is carrying the Cards and seems to be getting better each season. Back to basket players are hard to find and he seems to enjoy scoring in the paint. Could be a diamond in the rough. What kind of grades does he command? /

Guess Whitley did the job on St. John then. If he gets under 25 and the Cards win is a big plus. Whitley has some talent and many others on the bench who can be game changers.

Is St. John healthy? Looks like the Colonels are still closing the gap on the regions elite.

Corbin @ Williamsburg (01/09)
I do recall that Jacket team. I think that Mark Vernon had a little to do with the 1998 team as well. 11 years is a long time ago, so I am sure the Jackets are sharpening their Stingers for this opportunity to take the Hounds on Friday. Coach Robinson may break out the 1998 uniforms and suit the team up if another district matchup takes place in the 50th tournament at Mountjoy gym.

Corbin @ Williamsburg (01/09)
Hounds need to come ready to play each and every game the rest of the way. Every team on their schedule will give them a run for the money. Williamsburg has always played well at home and will no doubt put a good fight on Friday. Coach Robinson is a solid young coach and will be one of the best in the area in a few years. He only needs some more experience and few players who will buy into his system of play. Hounds should be too much for the Jackets, but stranger upsets have happened. I look for the Hounds to continue to play unselfish and keep up the hardnosed defense that Coach P has installed. Williamsburg will play well. Hopefully both teams will play their best and the superior team wins in a hardfought and good game.

Corbin 74 Lexington Catholic 71
I think some bigger basketball offers might arise, but no academic offers would be any better than Centre. He could be a nice player for the Centre team also. Centre is a very expensive school, they must really want him to come up with that kind of scholarship money. Good luck to Josh in whatever he decides. He is a fine young man.

Any updates on schools looking at Crawford? He might be a steal for some schools. I have seen the Coach at Centre at several games, Coach Lane from Transy and here of late Coaches from Univ. Of the Cumberlands. Union College has also been at several games this season. It would not surprise me to see his stock soar as the season progresses. Might make someone a good small forward or two guard with some improvements in shooting and more ball handling experience.

Sounds like Zollo is adjusting to his new system and starting to show his potential. If he and Rogers can own the paint, the Cards will be hard to defend all the way around. Best thing for GRC is their youth. They are competitive with most top ranked teams already and have lots of room to improve. I look for them to be around the top for the next three years. Just make sure to take advantage of the opportunities you have at the present. Three years passes quickly, especially at my age.

GRC is lucky to have Coach H and Coach Graham. Those two guys walk the walk and make sure the kids play the game the correct way. Win or lose, the Cards will represent themselves well on the court. No excuses, no whinning and no finger pointing. I have always respected programs who take this approach.

Good win for Coach H and crew. GRC is a first class program and will be a very tough team by the time March rolls around. Scott is very solid as well. Does anyone have stats for this game?

Coach Wrights seems to have an ear or two of most referees, but that also means they can hear profanities. He also has a championship ring that mesmerizes a lot of whistles. Sometimes you get the bear, but sometimes the bear gets you.

Corbin vs Lexington Catholic (01/03)
Will the Hounds be able to handle the 2-2-1 pressure from the Knights and who will attempt to guard Vee Sanford as well? If the Hounds can handle the press, make a few shots and do well in the paint then they should have a good chance to win, if not then the Knights will roll by about 12.

Corbin 70 South Laurel 52
I agree Madison Johnson is a very solid player. I disagree on the referees'. Corbin took South out of sink instead. I am sure South will bounce back and be a favorite come tournament time. One game does not a season make.
