  1. Agree totally Ukfballfan. Beatty is a good coach, no one is denying that, but Franklin County has come from nowhere with a chance to play for a real title, nothing mythical about that.
  2. I agree, Franklin County has come from seemingly nowhere. To win 6-7 games is amazing, but to go undefeated is a different level entirely. Franklin County doing it from scratch is far more impressive than Beatty, Wallace, or Mueller, doing a remodel....imo
  3. JH did enough to get by I thought. There backs are a little banged up, but they played pretty good considering. A few more weeks and they'll return all their starters to full health. Don't know if it will be enough to get by BG though. Congrats to Boone Co, they have a very tough team. I thought they physically whipped JH's D-line. Good luck the rest of the way.
  4. I don't think BG will HAVE to play perfect to beat JH. JH is a very good team, but BG has more team speed and a duel threat qb. I haven't looked at the rosters for both teams, but I'm sure BG has some very big players too. Should be a dandy if and when they meet...
  5. Would love to see the Tigers pull out a W, but i've heard the same thing Heresay. Could be a long night for BHS.
  6. I agree, Boone is a good a team. JH looked more impressive early on than they do right now IMO... This may be closer than 21
  7. Bardstown bounces back and wins this one 35-21....
  8. I'm not saying they'll beat John Hardin, just think it'll be closer than some might think. As good as they're defense has been to date, having several injuries could have an impact against a player like DeMichael Jackson. That kid is pretty good.
  9. I would have to agree, but i've heard they may have as many as 5 starters out on defense. If they really are that beat up, it could close. I'll say jh-35 jtown27
  10. Mayfield has some pretty awful visitor locker rooms. They felt medieval! Of course that was 15 years ago...
  11. I don't think John Hardin can beat Highlands. I think John Hardin may be able to play with Highlands 5 times out of 10....if they're lucky. The Bluebirds are just that good.... based on what I've seen on tv.
  12. I understand the fundamentals view, I just assumed that most decent athletes know how to throw, catch, block, and tackle at a much earlier age than middle school. Of course these fundamentals aren't perfected at this age, and may never be entirely perfected.
  13. "SS With all due respect - I am not sure that is the only reason the schedule is what it is. Could perhaps the level of competition, the challenge, the opportunity to be truly tested, the ability to learn about your team and players by playing top notch competition week in and week out. Why could not all of that go into the mix as well. Let's say for sake of argument - that tomorrow JCPS lifts "the blockade; - do you think that T would start working the phones to schedule the [pick any JCPS school] ....{ you can throw in Doss if you like } ? I think not." I agree completely. Now they're competing on a national level...and I don't think they're goal would be to aim for middle of the pack...(considering Trinity's tradition of excellence and royalty:D). They have no problem embracing their state rank, why shun the national rank. I'm not saying they should be consumed by their poll position, but awareness is inevitable IMO. Just sayin...
  14. I respectfully disagree. I would hope that a player knows HOW to play football earlier than middle school. As a coach I would want my middle school team to become somewhat familiar with what the high school level does simply because it lessens the learning curve once they enter high school.
  15. Hopefully it's precious to Trinity...why else would their schedule include the teams it does? Precious to this site...just check some of the thread comments. Beatty downplays it b/c he's smarter than most of the Trinity faithful on this site.
  16. I thought Moeller would be much better than what I have seen. Don't get me wrong, they're both very good football teams, but some have stated that Moeller is the best team...or one of the best teams in the GCL....which is regarded by some as being the super conference of the nation. Just thought they'd be a lot more imposing than they look. Although the Maderas kid from Moeller looks pretty good. So who's better, Quick or Maderas?
  17. Growth Spurts and/or system change. You can never really predict the growth of a young man from middle to high. Some grow fast, others not til later. Obviously this can have an effect. While good programs try to instill a certain system from an early age, not everybody does this. Wishbone in middle, then spread in high school isn't doing anything for your program either. Lastly, coaching....hopefully the coach doesn't run a system just because it's familiar. I would hope he knows enough about football to tailor that suit to his athletes. With that being said, an athlete is just that...an athlete. They should produce in just about any offense. This is why I believe coaching is only a partial reason.
  18. They better....if they want to keep that precious Ranking:lol:
  19. 1. Highlands....not because they're more talented, but because they are more disciplined at every position. 2. NCC....while Wales is clearly the best athlete on the field, he's the only threat at Central. Too easy to prepare for that. 3. Mayfield....because Dudley isn't there anymore. 4. John Hardin....2 reasons, Their defense and Jermey Harness. 5. Warren Central...because I've seen them both.
