  1. I' not sure I understand your point. How can you single out and subtract two opponents from the whole schedule? District games and District 7 teams are weaker this year. You have to play your district matchups. Rockcastle never loses....and has several losses this year. McCreary came in and found tough going in new district. Madison Southern is down....Clay and Letcher Central are up....but out of our district due to realignment. These two games that you are trying to drop from total are strong teams that Coach Hilton scheduled to fill the slate. He almost had an top-rated Ohio team on as well, but could not get it worked out. We scheduled Tates Creek at last in order to fill the final game....they were the biggest school still with open game looking to fill their schedule. Corbin has a better team this year, but dropped Bell from schedule. Bell runs from no one. Coach Hilton tried hard to increase the strength of schedule. Bell Co played Henry Clay the past two years. Bell rarely has a perfect season. They usually have some tough losses early on in order to get stronger as they go along. Bell is young and getting better every week. We would love to be playing seven more weeks and improving along the way. Each week the Bobcats move closer to their goal. We cannot look further than one week ahead.....one game at a time. Bell has met every test so far this year. They have defeated some really good teams. This year's Bobcat team is special. Hopefully they are still playing in December!
  2. This game was over almost before it began. It seems that Bell scored about 4 touchdowns in the first four minutes or so. I believe that Bell could have easily scored over 100 points in this game if they had left the starters in and had not had a running clock for the second half! Bell came out throwing and completed a long pass, and then the running game was unstoppable featuring several RBs. Bell's defense seems to get better every week. McCreary fans were extremely nice and were great hosts. Many of them were complimentary of the Bell team throughout the night.
  3. Sheldon Clark had a great atmosphere and a lot of great fans. Their field was a little difficult....tons of the new rubber pellets and dust all over the surface due to the drought. But the one thing that detracted from the overall experience was the poor lighting. I have seen more light on some poorly lighted baseball fields in our area! WYMT Sports Overtime Game of the Week....footage of endzone, was so dark you could hardly see the players! They could use some more lights of any kind!
  4. Sure is a shame.....I remember that kind of atmosphere recently when Corbin and Bell Co. in 2006 fought to a draw....and then ending with an exciting game-winning kick by Bell Co.'s All-State kicker. What a game. One can only speculate how it would have been if the two had met this year with even better teams on the field of play. The Corbin fans were great, even in defeat that night. A tremendous atmosphere for a Friday night high school game. Local rivalries are huge in maintaining this kind of overall atmosphere and game spirit. Ending age-old rivalries such as the Bell Co.-Corbin rivalry can only add to the demise of the glory of the past.
  5. That's great! Does he kickoff and punt? Do you know what camp he attended?
  6. Lexington Christian Academy's kicker, Craig McIntosh went to the Chicago camp. He is ranked #8 overall ahead of Kaufman and Milligan (St. X of Cincy) mentioned on the link to Kaufman's story. Kentucky was well represented this year at Ray Guy's camps!
  7. On other sites in their region Sheldon Clark folks are saying that Bell was not impressive and that SCHC played really a bad game. I certainly disagree. Sheldon Clark came out extremely fired up. It was Senior Night. They stopped Bell on some initial drives and Bell punted more tonight than any game all year, I believe. Bell County's defense was the key. They had a tremendous goal line stand that broke the spirits of the Cardinals. As game went on Bell got stronger and their power running game wore down Sheldon Clark. SCHS has a good team. But Bell proved that they are worthy of their rankings and are moving one game at a time toward the ultimate goal of the first 4-A championship in the new reorganization.
  8. The kicking game is certainly getting more attention in Kentucky football. There are a lot of outstanding kickers. Coaches should pay more attention to the special teams play. It can turn ball games and negate a lot of hard work in other areas when it is ignored.
  9. Kaufman and our Bell kicker attended the camp in Bowling Green and were compared to camps in 33 major cities in United States this past summer. Bell County kicker Merrick was entered as kicker/punter, and I believe that Kaufman only went in as kicker. Merrick is ranked #20 in nation as kicker/punter and #22 punter/kickoff specialist. The senior class is ranked called The Recruiting Class and the Junior (Class of 2009) kickers are also ranked. Merrick is #2 junior in nation as kicker/punter; #2 punter/kickoff specialist, and #4 punter; and #8 kicker. Here is the link:http://www.prokicker.com/rankings/junior/combos
  10. Here is the link. You will find that Bell County (Jr. Class of 2009) kicker Monte Merrick is ranked 38th right behind Kaufman. Here is the link: http://www.prokicker.com/rankings/highschool/kickers?show=50&year=2007
  11. I asked this earlier, but no one responded. How does SC match up with Bell overall....run defense, pass defense, passing game, running game, and Special teams?
  12. Reminded me of one of the old guys that used to hang around Floyd's barbershop in Mayberry! Looked just like him! LOL! Must be him!
  13. I certainly do not think Coach Hilton has his team thinking anything other than this will be a battle. The long trip for the Bobcats....etc. Every week is a new game plan, and the Bobcats will be prepared. They will not overlook any team, with Dudley Hilton as coach. The Bobcats will be playing to win #300 for their coach Friday night. They match up with SC.....they have a 4 year starter at QB.....two thousand-yard rusher types in the backfield....and a freshman who averaged over ten yards per carry last week. Bell's defense is one of the top ones in state allowing barely over one td per game. One big difference for Bell this season has been special team play. How does SC match up with Bell in the kicking game and special teams play?
  14. Just to clarify....I had never seen this official at a Bell game...Dudley has been around and knows a lot of people around the state and from other schools he coached at. Even at that.....there certainly were not any controversial calls or penalties, etc. Bell might HAVE scored 91 points (LOL which is what the scoreboard actually showed at one time....it broke and never showed the final score accurately) if they had left their first string in for the whole game. Officials certainly did not effect any outcome!
  15. Dudley always meets with team and parents and give a post-game talk on the field. It was there at that setting...before the players all join hands and recite the Lord's Prayer each game......that he presented it! Players and fans all thought that it was a great gesture. Dudley is really big on "team" and I don't know if he ever gives out game balls to individuals.
  16. Bobcats dominated in the first half. Starters saw an early out in second half. Most of third was JV and Freshman QB, etc. mainly in fourth quarter. Freshman team was nearing another score when Dudley had them run out the clock. Dudley presented game ball to an official who I believe was retiring after tonight's game. Outstanding game by Bobcat defense. Jv allowed the only score late in second half.
  17. The 5-0 Bobcats go on the road for the rest of the regular season starting Friday night in Berea. How will these two teams match up?
  18. Did 7 and 8 districts not play under the old format? If so then Bell County's district winner....and I believe Bell could clinch with a win over Madison Southern this Friday night..... would have met the winner of THIS district in the regionals. Instead, I believe, that it will be the #1 and #2 ranked teams in 4-A meeting in the regional.....only one going on to the semi-finals!??
  19. I would agree. Robbins may very well have been the best running back in Bell history as some have said on another thread, but this year's running corps is extremely deep. Bell has six or seven players who have carried the ball in the heat of battle. That does not include JV types who come in when game is in control. Bell has added a diverse passing attack, and perhaps the best special teams play in Bell's history. Add to Spencer Greer's punt returns....now...TR's kickoff returns....and Merrick's kicking game..and this Bell team has several ways to beat you on offense. The defensive is playing well. Couple of lapses and turnovers.....mostly due to the off week, I believe, allowed more scoring than should have happened. I believe that Bell could very likely win all their regular season games. This would set up a great playoff scenario with the first two rounds on Log Mountain. I believe that the regional would be at Lex Catholic...but I am not sure. Don't look for Bell to overlook any opponent, however. Coach Hilton will have them ready for each game, and every week a building block toward being a playoff ready team. Should be an exciting season!
  20. Welcome to BGP Bellco93. Glad to have another Bobcat fan onboard. You will enjoy the classy dialogue with the Rockcastle faithful. One of the best district rivals in KY and unscathed by the KHSAA reclassification!
  21. Bell has faced both teams. I believe that Lincoln is by far the better team this year. But.....how long has it been since Rock dropped three in a row? This should be a toss-up....with home field giving Rock the edge. Last year Lincoln won on three PAT's ....that Rock failed to convert....21-18. Could the kicking game give Lincoln the edge?
