Whatever...we will just have to disagree on this one.

Who do you guys think has the best chance to succeed at the next level? My top players in order. 1- Austin Hill- Good size and very athletic. Very good shooter as well. Could be a lockdown defender when he wants. Excellent rebounder for a guard. Needs to work on decision making. 2- Zach Kiernan- Nice body and technicaly pretty sound. Very strong with the ball and has a nice touch around the basket. A good athlete but not great. Needs to work on his quickness and a mid-range shot. 3- Mike Hester- Great athlete and hard worker. A good shooter but a little streaky. Very unselfish almost to a fault but overall good decision maker. Needs to work on getting bigger and stronger. Can't do anything about his height but would be even better with 15 more pounds or so. 4- Duran Jefferson- More weight and strength would be good for Duran too. Quickest player in the area with best court vision. Runs the fastbreak about as good as you can and can get to the basket at anytime. Needs to work on his jumpshot and his attitude is a bit of a concern. 5- Arrez Henderson- Excellent athlete with a good body. Very strong finisher with the ability to guard anyone. Needs to work on his ballhandling and his perimeter game. Will put up big numbers his senior year.

There is no way Corey Sorrel will be considered a top ten player. Give me a break man! The kid can shoot and that's it. Not athletic at all.

You obviously dont know how many times I have seen Kurt and Todd play. Im not putting them down in anyway. They are both very good basketball players but not point guards. Kurt knows how to play point and has seen the same kind of press before because of the time he spent playing with the Tarheels but the experience of making sure you dont put yourself in any bad positions and the tempo you need to break a press like Holmes' is what will hurt. Tim was a true PG and understood these things and thats what it takes not just good basketball players.

I wouldnt make that statement with too much confidence.

I guess your right but whoever will replace Tim will have a time handling Holmes' fullcourt press all game long. That's another reason why I think Holmes should be slightly favorite over CovCath next year.

I wonder if Pettigrew, Beaumont, Coleman and the other big players from Lou. will be there.

Like I said before whoever they had backing up Tierney last year couldnt get the ball up the floor against SK. I think that might be a problem. Bovard and Jacobs are both good players but as far as I can remember neither one of them have much experience playing point.

I have heard that there is an allstar game this saturday in lousiville. I think the 5th and 6th regions take on the 7th and 8th. Does anybody have any info on this? Like are all the big name players going to play or are they not because of aau? I've heard that Mike Hester form SK was playing in it. Is he the only kid from nky in it?

It's nice to see these two kids get the exposure they deserve. Hester and Hill in my opinion are two of the best guards in the state and can play with anyone at their respective positions.

Really? I've seen him play a few times in highschool and aau ball and didnt see him really create his own shot too much.

I dont think people are really understanding how much CovCath is going to miss Tierney. I watched them play Simon Kenton last year and it was night and day when he wasnt in the game. I dont know who they have replacing him this year but their backup last year could hardly get the ball up the floor against Hester. They could really struggle if they dont have an answer for him leaving. Jacobs and Bovard are both great players but their best attributes are set shots. They can knock them down but somebody needs to set them up.

I wouldnt even want to see them if I were you. Any ranking that has Eugene Wade the 7th best player in the state and doesnt even have Austin Hill the reigning 9th region player of the year in the top 60 is a joke.

Who cares? Both these kids are going to be just fine. The whole OJ thing is disgusting anyway, it's a joke the way this kid and his family are being taken care of. I've been watching OJ since he was in the 5th grade and I used to be a fan but now when I look at this kid all I see is $$$. It's not about basketball anymore with this kid.

Like I asked before, what is it that these kids are going through? How can you blame the people who see this as the kids fault and the coaches? When all we hear is this kid doesnt like to play with this one, this kid doesnt like the coach so he doesnt listen to him, this one doesnt practice hard, this one runs his mouth to this one all the time, this one got into a fight with this one in the locker room and this one got suspended for misbehaving in school. Bottom line is you can talk about other schools but you just dont hear about all this going on at other schools. And the main reason is because the coaches wont put up with it. The main problem with Holmes' basketball team is you got alot of kids who think they are more important than the team and feel like they should be allowed to get away with these things. And with each second chance and third chance and fourth chance they get, the more they will feel that way.

Well if you guys know James Pouncy the coach of the Tarheels ask him about the Rocket games then. I was there for every state tourney and have seen them play the Rockets a few times but never remember the Rockets ever really having a chance. Dont know the exact point spread like you guys seem to remember but I do remember never worrying about the Rockets beating the Tarheels ever. As for the EKY Allstars all I can say is the following year at state after Billy didnt show up for the nationals all the talk at the KBA was that he wasnt legal. I know he is a Senior to be this year, just going from what was told to me a few times. They also that year didnt even have a team. All the kids split up and played for different teams, everybody but Billy who wasnt there.

What Rockets team are you talking about? The one that was in the same age group or the older Rockets team? The one in the same age group never played the Tarheels close.

Flynn is a good coach but the one thing I remember while he was at Holmes was in 90 he took a team that was loaded with talent to state. A team that was primarily juniors and made it to the championship game, losing to Fairdale I think.? The only thing is he came back in 91 with those juniors now seniors and didnt even make it out of the region. Very Sad.

Bottom Line is, if the Tarheels starting lineup consisting of Jefferson, Hester, Hill, Edmonson and Rice. (also add in Arrez Henderson and Braeon Avery) Would have stayed together and went to Holmes like they were going to they would have went to state 3 straight years and would have won at least 1 state championship. They played South Laurel's AAU team several times with most of South Laurels school players on that team and beat them easily every time.

The kids name was Billy he was their starting center and wasnt there at the nationals in I think the 9th grade. The team said that he just didnt want to play anymore but it was later when we were told that he wasnt legal. As for the Rockets, they never played the Tarheels tough not one AAU team from NKY ever did. PERIOD! The Central Kentucky Warriors beat them in their 10th grade year but that was after they totally changed their lineup. As for James getting players from other areas, he got a kid named Mark (Bradford maybe?) from S Laurel who didnt matter much to the team they needed size off the bench and thats all he was. Later on James started picking up kids from Cincy to play but that was after the time we are refering to.

Your right I shouldnt come down on the whole team but when those 2 or 3 players continue to do things that hurt there team and they continue to take these players back, then I dont feel sorry for the team. Certain players that work hard and dont cause any problems sure I feel sorry for them but the TEAM as a whole I dont and especially coach Henley who lets these things happen.

You are talking about the Boyd Co Suns who were basically the same team as the EKY Allstars. The Suns did have an illegal player back in the 5th grade and they got caught. Then the team changed names picked up a few other players and became Eky. The Eky team also had a kid that was found to be illegal that suspicously disappeard in the 9th grade. The Allstars were a great team I give you that and they did play great team ball and very intelligent basketball. But they did have a kid that started for them that wasnt legal.
