East Carter 70 Elliott 66
I could see EC playing in the regional finals, if they get out of thier district. The 62nd is loaded, and with thier vast improvements it makes it that much tougher. These games are good for the Elliott County girls, win or lose, because they have no expierence in these close game sistutations. The more of these they play, the better prepared they will be when it counts. Like 2hs said, depth is a problem but so is expierence. They are only going to get better as the season goes along.

16th Region Scores
Some people will probably take this the wrong way, but Elliott County really hasnt played, what I would call, a good game. Thier defense has been very poor the first couple of games. They have scored alot, but thier defense needs to improve if they want to be a top team in the state. The coaching staff at Elliott is really cracking down and making an emphasis on the defensive side of the ball. They need a few more games to work some of those flaws out.

Elliott Co starts the season off 2-0 against top 5 teams per Cats Pause.

Elliott County 132 Greenup County 64
They are more that goes into scheduling games than just calling someone and asking them to play. Elliott Co had only a certain number of games open in which they filled with top notch competition. When you are a class A school you dont have teams like this all the time. Which in result you dont always want to play top notch competition. So Elliott Co isnt just going to drop all the 16th region teams off their schedule this year and then when they have the weaker teams have to play the best teams in the state.

Elliott County 132 Greenup County 64
Obviously Elliott County did something right last year considering they were one of eight teams left when the state tournament quarterfinals were played. They did lose to Warren Central. 5 sophmore starters, a junior, and an 8th grader who had never played in the state tournament lost to 5 senior starters and two or three seniors off the bench, who had players on thier team that had played 6 times in Rupp Arena. WC was the more expierenced, matured team. But last year doesn't matter. Elliott County is trying to prepare themselves for anothner trip to the state tournament, and sitting your starters for half the game would have gotten them no where tonight. They were trying to better themselves, as they will with every game this season.

Elliott County 132 Greenup County 64
I will answer one of your question. The point of "running the score up" as you put it is this, Elliott Co has plans of making a deep run into the post season. I think coach Mays is more worried about working on things in games situations than the score. Again, Greenup's style is why the score was what it was. This is just the second game of the season and Elliott is trying to get better with every game just like all the other teams.

Greenup chose to try and run with Elliott, which led to a 40-12 lead after one period. Early in the second quarter, Ferguson and Evan Faulkner was on the bench. Soon after, the remaining starters were sitting. Greenup also was running 5 in and 5 out, which led to some easy scores from Elliott County. The third period was played the same way. Elliott was not running up the score, but Greenup contuined to give Elliott easy basket, which they took advantage of. Elliott County will play Christian Count(preaseason top 25 according to the Herald Leader) in the Kentucky Bank Shootout. They will play Mason County(preseason #1 according to the Herald Leader) at the fieldhouse. They also particiapte in the 5/3rd tournament. They could possibly play Rose Hill(preseason top 25 according to Herald Leader) in the Class "A" tournament, and if they are fortunate enough to win there, they will represent the 16th in the Class "A" state tournament. According to the post game radio, Ferguson led Elliott County with 29 points. Couldn't catch his rebounds or assist but did have a good all around game. Evan Faulkner had 21 points and 6 rebounds. Timmy Knipp scored 20 and added 7 blocked shots. Tyler Maynard came off the bench to score 17 points. Ethan Faulkner added 13 points but racked up 18 assist and 10 rebounds. Chris Knipp and Jonathon Morgan contributed 10 and 11 points respectively.

Elliot Vs. Greenup Predictions
Greenup travels to Sandy Hook tonight. Any predicitons?

Elliott County 102 Morgan County 59
Timmy played very well tonight. He only had 11 points but I would imagine he had 10+ rebounds and several blocks and altered even more. Great player that is only going to better with maturity. Major D-1 prospect.:thumb:

Elliott County @ Morgan County
If he didnt say it, I apologize to him and all involved.

Elliott County @ Morgan County
I was not trying to disrespect anyone. I was told Perry made some rash statements on a radio show. I never said that that rumor was completely true or written in stone, that is why I said "the word." It could be completely untrue. Also, it was said on here that Perry "liked his chances" aganist Elliott County. I was also told he predicted a win in West Liberty's newspaper. Like I stated earlier it could be untrue.

Elliott County @ Morgan County
Elliott County and Morgan County open up Friday night. Any predictions? Word around Sandy Hook the last couple of days is that Coach Perry has made his own predictions for the game to go along with a few other statements towards the group from Elliott County. What does everyone think?

Hill #1 in CJ Coaches Poll
Elliott County played Rowan County this past summer without Timmy Knipp and beat Rowan over 50 and Petit didnt have double digits. Thats saying a whole lot considering Elliott County didnt have a guy over 6'3.

Hill #1 in CJ Coaches Poll
The thing about that is, in the two scrimmages Elliott County has played the game has been in hand within the first five minutes. 8 people will see quality minutes this year. (Ferguson, Faulkners, Knipps, Morgan, Maynard, Center)
