  1. A lot of good points made theought the whole thread, but look at it from everyones point of view including the officials. When you work the tourney that you live in, in some places inthe state, is a lot of small close knit communties where people live and work. players live close to these officials and the stripped guys and gals are human beings. They have families and children, and any official is one call from ticking off half of the town and let me assure you that grudges are held for years in some cases. I agree that you dont always have the best refrees on the games in the post season but for the most part they are really good. When these kids that play get to the next level it isnt the same as what they have had all year so isnt it better for THE KIDS to know that things will change on the floor and have them prepared for that.
  2. Lets just talk common sense for a few seconds. I am from Corbin and have kids in the Laurel County system at South. I am very involved in sports in this area and have seen and talked with other people from throught out the state about the regional being played at a site other than a high school venue. First let me say I seen Coach Wright and Coach Snyders statemnet and what they had to say in the loacl paper last week concerning the Arena. I feel that the Coachs are being kind of, shall we say selfish for a lack of a better word. Moving the tournement to the Arena would take away more problems than it would create, my wife is an educator and we have discusse this between ourselves and with other cpuples who are involved and I am not just talking about teachers, but to make it very understandble to everyone the time of the year when this is held is always the testing time, that makes seven school days at the host school where all that goes on is planning for the nights event, a big distraction to each student in the school at a very important time in a students school year. This would take propblems away from athletic directors the only thing the schools and the athletic director would have to do is provide a tournement manager, this would take away the problems of ticket sales, pass gate managers, concessions, parking, hospitality rooms, and all other personel that the host school must provide it would all be up the management of the site and take it all away from the school or host school. Having the games at a site such as the Arena would have the student atheltes more ready to play the next week in Rupp or at Western Kentucky, the sessions would not be split, the seating is comfortable, the crowds are more controled and away from the players, coaches, and officials. This idea is a no brainer and if anyone would think of the benifits there would not be a question as to where to hold the regional. I have also heard the Corbin thing this will not be be a Corbin thing as to the fact I talked with one of the men who run the CFIT and he made the statement that the only way the that would even be played there is if the Atena wanted to buy the CFIT from the varsity club. It will NOT be Corbin HIgh Schools gym.
  3. 13th rumor has it Gray, Hembree, and Jenifer Hilton has a chance. 12th the award has to go to one of Noels regulars, Tony Gray, Scott Bottoms, Mike Black, Jimmy Dyehouse or Mark Bryant.
  4. Sounds like the umpire made a bad decision on the appeal call because the game was over and he put himself and his crew in a bad situation.
  5. Yae thay can still partcipate if they are becoming a parent or thay are already a parent.
  6. There is limited information available but the word from sources close to the situation is that CK at the conclusion of this year is going to retire and be named the asst. assiging sec. any comments? Thanks for the years of dedicated service.
  7. 13th region topo ten 1. Mike Ashurst 2. Darrell Wilson 3. Glen Gray 4. Charlie Kirk 5. Brent Gray 6. Mark Estep 7. Mike Philpot 8. Kevin Hembree 9. Jeff Ely 10. The bald headed guy
  8. Cat in the hat do you have a fever or sicknes that you are suffering from. That is maybe the most outrageous statement ever posted on this website. Tommy Greer is a good upcoming offcial but to say he is hands down the best in the region you have completley lost your basketball mind. Did you see the Pineville vs. Cumberland game at Lynn Camp in the all-a Semi final last night. Tommy was thrust into a bad situation thus being the ring leader in the circus called a basketball game at the North VS Clay game last Friday. Tommy was 4 of 5 on the technicals and forgot to let North shoot free throws on a common foul. In defense of Tommy the assigning secrutary should have the best offcials on the best games night in and night out. Maybe it would be a good idea for you to step in and show all the offcials how it should be done. In conclusion it obvious that you have Bell County connections ........ I just didnt relize that the air was that thin on Log Moutain!!!!!!!:fire:
  9. I thought the hounds played a really good second half. Issac Wilson is very underated and is young he will continue to get better. Madison Johnson is the real deal and with Crawford coming back Corbin has there chance to make the same type run that SL has made for the past three years.
  10. I was at the game and was there for the whole game, and with what Les is saying must just be a personal issue between this official and Les. I was doing some work for a local tourmnmment commitee and I as well as the group I was with, a group of coaches and players from another local school. All talked about how the game was officiated, it was a rough and physical game and was very well offciated. Les needs to sitick to writing sports not offciating sports or maybe just offciating the optimst games. Thank you Bubba for your honesty and understanding of the game.
  11. Alot of rumors but not heard of an official anouncment. Rumor had it that the coach would be names Friday before last.
  12. Rumor out of the 13th region is that Roscoe Denny will lead the Admirals next season.
