Hounds looked good at times. I really like the Josh Smith and Isaac Wilson kid.

Also, one ref that kills me is the one that did the game tonight. I very rarley complain about refs, but this one kills me. I had numerous people tell me tonight how obvious his stuff was.

What do you think Bubba, how did you guys feel?

Im pretty sure it was the ref that called the game against Knoxville Catholic if you are referring to some homer calls?

 

Corbin looked pretty impressive out of the game jumping to a 2 touchdown and fieldgoal lead. They let the Wildcats cut it back to 9 or 10 but seemingly took over the game. I'd say they were definitely looking ahead to the team sitting up in the upper deck but you'd still like to see them worry about the current task. Looks like Coach P got them refocused in the second half. What was the technical on Barley for? I just saw him and that little 22 feller goin for a loose ball.

I was also impressed with the big kid (#54) for Buckhorn. Didn't appear to be overly athletic or powerful but he played his heart out and was in on many plays blocking shots, rebounding, and getting put backs.

I thought they did just fine. Buckhorn is a scrappy little team.

They sure are a scrappy bunch. That little #22 took an absolute beating the whole game but kept on keepin on. He really didn't get fouled that much, just good physical basketball. I liked watching Buckhorn play.

No. 22 was scrappy, I agree, he didn't get fouled that much, but if you watch that ref, some things he does is just too obvious. And, it's a shame for Corbin's coaches and players because they're giving 110 percent.

IMO this game was a no contest from the git go, Had Buckhorn won a game this year? Should be a region type atmosphere Friday and a good game.

I felt like the officals did a pretty good job overall. Hounds looked sharp at times and sluggish at others. Once they get rolling on all cylinders they are a tough team. Smith had a nice game as did Johnson. Lee Crawford had some very nice assists. Buckhorn has played a tough early season schedule and will benefit come later in the season. Games against Jackson Co, Holmes and Corbin are pretty good tests for a school the size of the Horn. Coach Noble has done a tremendous job over there and works really hard each season. I would not surprised to see them upset a team or two along the way. Good Luck Hounds on Friday.

Overall, the other officials did a good job, and the one official didn't do anything to turn the tide or anything like that, I just get disappointed in seeing some of the things he does over and over.

It's really a shame.

One thing is for sure. Everytime you blow the whistle someone is upset. Officals have a tough job. I would not dare do it. Maybe it is the public criticism they take, the low pay or it could be that basketball is just the toughest sport to referee period. If you have noticed repeated actions or behaviors over and over again then more than likely it ain't going to change. Hopefully a new assigning secretary will work with all the officals to help them improve, just as the coaches work with their players. Tough and thankless job.

I do agree with you there. Heck, I've reffed plenty of senior league optimist games and I know what you mean.

As for Les’s take on the officials. I really didn’t see anything that out of the ordinary. Especially to the extent that Les continues to bring up. Corbin had 4 players on the bench with at least two fouls on them in the first half. Corbin also received a technical foul in a situation that could have easily been called a double technical. I could only guess the number of fouls shots Buckhorn shot during the first half, but It seemed far greater than Corbin.

 

The officiating wasn’t bad tonight and I would dare say that Buckhorn wouldn’t complain if asked. That is my two cents on the matter.

To be honest, I don't care who wins the game. Never have, never will. It's high school basketball, it's definately not my life and should be for the kids.
