The Professor Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 This one surprises me a little, not that South won...but by this amount!
HOMELESS CAMEL Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 This one surprises me a little, not that South won...but by this amount! When I looked at the scores of the regular season meetings, I thought this might be closer as well.
SomersetFootball Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 This one surprises me a little, not that South won...but by this amount! I agree.
SKINPIG Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 This one surprises me a little, not that South won...but by this amount! Don't surprise me at all. Corbin along with the rest of the 13th still have a ways to go to get to South's level.
2SportCard Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I predicted a lot closer score, but this is tournament time. South's big 3 really took a back to seat to Jordan Bortman tonight. I think Hammonds only had 5 points and Proffitt & Smith finished well but started a little slow.
2SportCard Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Corbin had a kid named Crawford who looked as good as anybody on the floor tonight. I heard he is just a sophomore, is that right?
Les Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Yes, he is a sophomore. South jumped out to a 20-3 lead and never looked back. Jordan Bortnem knocked down 5-of-6 shots in the first half and 4-of-6 from 3-point land. He finished with 16 along with Trey Smith (8-of-10 on the floor). Ty Proffitt had 17 and Jordan Hammonds only had five and the Cards still won by 27. Cards shot 54 percent and Corbin 37 percent. South only had seven turnovers and Corbin had 19. • My view - The Cardinals always pick up a notch in post-season play and IMO they showed they're still the team to beat in the 13th Region. South played unselfihsly (16 assists to Corbin's 5). Josh Craford scored 24 points on 9-of-10 shooting while Deke Barley had nine. Johnson had 5, Smith 3, Wilson 3 and Hamblin 2. Corbin was 3-of-16 from 3-point range.
supertrooper Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 very shocked by this...thought Corbin would play closer with them than this..... The only team I feel as a chance with South now is Bell....
Deuce41 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I thought Crawford was the only player for Corbin who did not back down from the pressure. He attacked the basket and had good success. Nobody else could crack the South defense. I listened to all three radio stations who covered the game and two (Williamsburg and Corbin) of the three thought that Crawford was the best player over all on the floor tonight, maybe not the best, but the best tonight. South showed that until somebody knocks them off they are King....Long live the King.
Les Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Tonight, Proffitt was the best player on the court. Then Crawford and Bortnem and Smith. Profitt forced six turnovers, had three steals, nine assists and scored 17 points and drove to the basket at will. I give Crawford credit. He busted his tail the entire night. He's definatley one of the best players in the state.
The Professor Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 South just has too much experience in these post season situations. Bell played them a close game recently, but I don't see it happening when it really counts.
rudedogky Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I thought this would be closer also. Was all the districts wrapped up tonight with the exception the the 52nd-only 6 team district in the state?
