  1. Good assessment. Really thought Joel Carlton played very well. He does the little things that are not noticed on a stat sheet. When he utilizes his offensive abilities, he makes Gallatin much harder to defend. This makes Coach Jones's fifth 20 win season i believe (98,99,07,08,10), and had a 19 win season in 2006. His son Zach has been a pleasure to watch over the years.
  2. They are still behind many areas of the state. I have witnessed this in travel tournaments. NKY teams generally do not fare well in these tournaments ( KY NSA State, ASA State, Sluggerfest, etc....). Aside from the Cincy Doom organization, the same can be said of the whole Cincinnati area in general. I'm not saying that there aren't talented players in NKY/Cincy area, just as a whole. Keep in mind, I have only seen the 12u and 14u age level the past couple of years. I know of several girls at this age level that travel extensively to play on competitive travel teams. The Louisville Stunners 13u team won the USSSA 13U World Series and The Louisville Lady Sluggers 12u team won the ASA "A" Northern Nationals in 2009. Those teams have 2 or 3 NKY girls playing importants roles for them. As far as NKY, I know the NKY Bandits and the KY Xplosion have several talented players. And some of those girls come from areas that some of you would not consider NKY ( I do). Sorry, did not intend to get of the 8th anf 9th Region topic.
  3. Excellent post. Been there, done that.
  4. Forgot to mention that the Oldham County PA guy introduced Gallatin as the "Carrollton Wildcats". :irked:
  5. Final from Buckner. Gallatin County senior Zach Jones scored his 1,000th career point tonight. Gallatin now stands at 20-6. I will let Colonel Mike provide the details .
  6. Just an observation: Northern Kentucky ( 8th and 9th Regions) softball doesn't seemed as evolved as much of the rest of the state has. This is not a knock on kids talent. I am referring to the way the game is taught and coached. That being said, Walton Verona and Henry County will be solid. They could contend.
  7. Capitolism has allowed this country to have the wealthiest poor people in the world.
  8. You are correct. Many present 8th Region schools ( Gallatin, W-V, Carroll, Henry, Owen, etc...) were in the 10th Region in Baseball at that time. I believe that changed around 1986.
  9. Final from Warsaw. Walton offensively rebounds missed free throw with 6.8 seconds left in OT. Gallatin steals pass, advances ball up the court for a good look from three that won't fall. Good effort from Gallatin but Walton escapes with a win.
  10. Congrats to Dillon. I'm sure his dad is proud. Playing with the Flames all these years has paid off.
  11. I agree with that statement, if he is healthy.
  12. The 6th grader that I mentioned is getting significant Varsity minutes ( Boley-Larue County).
  13. They have my respect. Best South team I have ever seen. Historically, Simpson's teams shoot well, as does this one. This team has something that his past teams have lacked in my opinion, physical toughness and good defense ( which comes from the physical toughness). Would not shock me if they win the 8th.
  14. Very impressed with the Raiders play without Callis and Mitchell. That is a testament to Coach Stewart. They are a very young team. Gallatin is young also. No seniors, they start four juniors and an 8th grader, and the 6th man is a freshman who started in place of Emily Jones until she came back from knee injury. The 8th Region in general is very young and will be fun to watch for the next several years. Congrats to Coach Roberts and her team on a solid win. The Wildcats record now stands at 12 Wins-9 Losses.
  15. Quite frankly, Capitolism and balance do not belong together. Nor should they. Capitolism promotes growth, not the zero sum game libs like to play. As far as the Corporate World, small business is what drives Capitolism and the Free Markets and vice versa,, not large corporations. Not picking on you Jim, just joining the debate.
  16. I have no reason to second guess Coach Miller. I am sure he had a good reason for his actions.
  17. You are correct. Gallatin has five All "A" 8th Region titles( 93,99,06,07, and 08). Carroll has four( 97,98,00, and 05). Walton has three total, one from the 9th Region(1990), two from the 8th Region (04,10).
  18. Congrats to Coach Nethery and his team. This is a great win for them.
