  1. Like I have said a million times it's not that they have such better players it's that they dress and play 100+ good players.Unlike public schools that may dress 60-70 but only about 15-18 are quality playersl.I have asked this question a few times but never get any replies but why not limit the amount of kids you can dress to 60-65 to level the playing field alot.Alot of the good public schools can hang with T and X until there first unit wears out and the public schools have to bring in "real" back-ups instead of another 11 as good as the 1st string.Thats the biggest and only disparity between these privates in question and other public schools.
  2. This is true....Barry Bonds has never tested positive for roids so he must be clean.   Just throwing a little gas on the fire. But we really should give that dead horse a break though.
  3. I would'nt call him up and coming but Arron Watts will sale a ton of tickets this year McCreary Central and there opposition. If this kid ever gets any publicity down there in the middle of nowhere or transfers to a big name school I'll put money on it he will be considered the next O.J. Mayo.
  4. Doe's anyone think that limiting the number of kids that can dress each game would help at all? From what I have seen it isnt really the overwhelming talent difference it's the amount of talent that privates bring at each position to every game.I mean if you see Whitley Co. play St.X it would look like St.X had three teams on there sideline compared to Whitley which is a 4A.I dont think it's the initial talent starting the game that upsets people its the fact that teams like Whitley and such have to rely on there starters the whole game while St.X and Trinity rotate people just as talented as the ones there replacing the whole game.I know people will say "You cant punish us for that and it's not our fault."and thats true. But how about if they do classification by taking into account the male to female ratio at each school.I dont have the numbers nor do I feel like looking them up but I would say there is a big disparity between St.X and Trinity compared to South Laurel,Whitley, and other publics.Or I could be wrong....believe it or not.
  5. I would consider Haddix of Scott a front runner right beside Proffit but the rest of those I don't think will contend at all.Pettigrew is a good player but if you stop him(like South did in the tourney in 2005)you stop that whole team, and with Proffit and Haddix if you concentrate only on them they have plenty of fire power around them to keep that from happening.IMO.But that means nothing this year so congrats to Walt Allen.:ylsuper: :ylsuper:
  6. Who's the three or four SENIORS next year better than Ty Proffit?
  7. Minnifield from Henry Clay....Mark it down.
  8. My point exactly!!!:thumb:
  9. Do you think they they were looking ahead?Did'nt get to see the game, nor have I seen Apollo play.
  10. All of your questions can be answered with one answer.....gameplan.Ummm....let me think who comes up with the game plan?Oh yeah the coaches!!!As far as being a sore loser,I'm not one of these die-hard highschool b-ball gurus that live and die by this I just think that Graves plays the worst style of ball to hit the basketball court.(Cowards ball)I just wish people on here would develope there own opinions and say what they feel.Once a couple of people pile on the same opinion everyone else is scared to voice there REAL opinion. It's just funny that after that game everyone was complaining about the same things I am on here but now everyone is all politicaly correct and afraid to get piled on by other team supporters.I personally don't care what anyone says about MY OPINION,Im going to voice it and I'll argue with all day if need be.If your right I'll be the first to admit it,if I feel I'm right I'm not going to tuck my tail and bow down to the politicaly correct like alot of people on here.Oh yeah I did'nt get to see the J-town-Graves game but what kind of defense did J-town play?
  11. I know exactly what man to man defense is,I have played man to man,2-3,1-3-1,and about any other defense ON THE COURT.I also know that when you get stuck in your ways and use one defense "exclusively" you tend to get figured out easily.(Hence Graves)Noone can tell me that South did'nt have alot more talent on the floor than graves but we stuck to the 1-3-1.The only reason to run zones usually is to stop a team from going inside or if your at a big talent differential.South could out match them at any position and should have invited a one on one game instead of giving up lay-ups when Graves stretched that zone.I thought alot of this was obvious but I guess when you have actually played the game and run these defenses yourself it makes it more obvious.I guess:confused:
  12. Don't know about "walking all over" but we would've won.:thumb:
  13. I strongly, strongly disagree.College did it for a reason,I think it was that good'ol North Carolina 4 corners. When you get up 2-0 hold and pass the ball the rest of the game.Thats not basketball thats keep-away.IMO of course
  14. No,because the 1-3-1 allows you to drive and when the defense collapses then the cutters will more than likely be open. They definately recognized the play because they seen it every time down the court. But If the D isnt designed to stop that play then who's responsible to change that?...Thats right, the coach
  15. Thats exactly what I'm saying. He knew(even on the last possesion)that was what they was looking for every time down the court as long he kept running that 1-3-1 because It was working so why stop.Im just saying myself among hundreds around me realized this and he should have also. The back-door cut is easy to stop but you have to be willing to give something else up like the 3.Also the man to man keeps teams from holding the ball but he would'nt change that either.By no means am I taking a single thing from the Graves kids, they executed there game plan and won with it.But wright had to see what they were doing and I just can't comprehend why he did'nt switch up defense.I'm not upset at the loss,it's the way they lost. You can be as harsh as you want with me I have thick skin.LOL:lol:
  16. People,people...I know Wright is a great coach and a better person but all I am doing is pointing out accountability.Every team that loses a game in any sport has a reason for losing that game.If you was there and had to hold something accountable for losing what would it be?There is 5 kids on that court that are all great players so Walt having a bad game would'nt affect the outcome..true?The Graves players did'nt beat South one on one either it was the style of the game and the same play being run with success over and over. All of those factors are out of the players hands, all they can do is run what there told...true.So who does that bring us back to?the coach.I don't care if it was pitino,Im just saying that all of the things that beat them was in the coaches hands and he would'nt get away from the same defense. If I do a good job at work than I am told "good job".But If I screw something up real bad I get ripped for it like I should. It's accountability. He was the best coach in KY all season long for the most part but he was'nt today.Thats all I'm saying,so please.....chill.
  17. I know he is a great coach but he was far from it today.Outside shooting????What did they hit 1 maybe 2 threes.I'm telling you, look it up Graves scored the majority of there points on that one play. That back-door cut.But in none of these threads did I say Wright was'nt a great coach, what I said is he was horrible today and if you were there you could'nt disagree or you don't understand the fundamentals of basketball. As far as the ignorant comment,I would keep those to myself, for I was banned for using the same word. But no hard feelings. Can't offend me
  18. Most of Cavette's points were on that obvious back-door cut.Not to mention they had Cavette with 4 fouls and would'nt take it to him and foul him out.Plus I did'nt see 1 player beat South by himself all year. There was just so many things that were so obvious that would have changed this game yet he keeps playing that 1-3-1.Most of all I hate it for those kids, they deserved so much better than to get beat by this team.
  19. Was you there watching this game?I know people want to be politicaly correct but it is what it is,he blew it.He is a heck of a coach, probably the best in the state usually but today he could'nt see the obvious like the back door cut that they scored I bet 80% of there points on.Going to 2-3 or man would have stopped that easily. And neither team deserved to win today, this game was just ridiculous, but yes Graves forced the stand-still tempo and took advantage of it and won the game.
  20. I said if South got them down early by 10-15 they would. But like the post above Wright never come close to putting them in that position and was basically out coached as bad as I have ever seen from any coach.Graves set the tempo and Wright was content with losing.I feel for Graves tommorow.....wait a minute...no I dont. They play the worst brand of ball I have ever seen...They make tubby's offense look like the Phoenix Suns
  21. It's just a crying shame that kids this good on and off the court have there season ended by a team this bad because of horrible, horrible coaching by wright. For some reason wright was content with letting Graves hold the ball until everyone fell asleep and let them have the back-door cut every time.(and if you was there I mean every time!)He would'nt get out of the 1-3-1 at all when he had the much better size and athletes. Also, poor Walt Allen was just awfull today for some reason.I mean he missed at least 3 uncontested lay-ups and I dont know how many free throws and Wright would'nt put Riley in to replace him.By no means am I complaining about the loss, but I am just completely in shock about how bad Wright handled this game.If South plays 2-3 or man-to-man I dont believe it's close. You would just have to have been there to fully understand how bad this was.If they dont put a shot clock in,every team in the state will start running this North Carolina 4 corners garbage that Graves ran and hold the ball the whole game because they know thats the only chance they have. But all in all I just hate that Walt had his worst game ever in his last game with South and that Wright just took the game away from his own kids. But on the other hand Shelby or J-town owes us one now for the cake walk to Sat.
  22. If you need rest at this point you probably wont see saturday.Risk of injury maybe, but not rest.Oh yeah...they always play 8 deep if its close and it's the whole bench if it's a blow-out.If not there are some 13th region teams that could have really been humiliated.(even worse.)But with that being said, this is the sweet sixteen and at this point it's "all systems go" or go home. You cant worry about sportsmanship, class,or being concerned with what people think if you blow somebody out ,you have to seal the deal.
  23. Oh...gotcha.Thats better than what my wife calls me.But then again I dont think you can shorten the words she calls me.
  24. Did you see Graves play there first game?I dont think there that bad I just think South is that much better.IMO.But wait and see if Graves gets down early South will go for the knock-out blow.Once again thats my opinion.
