Like I said earlier, I don't feel that strongly about this... but ...am I to understand that if you lose your ring, you wonder around in a state of confusion with a big void where all the memories of that season used to be? Kinda like a key that unlocks those for you?........ .......Relax...I'm just playin with you! I am genuinely happy to hear that EVERYBODY who answered truly holds these rings close to their hearts and treasures the work, the bonds, the memories and the success they represent.

I'm thinking of a very good little guard from Holmes circa 1987 ish...she was very good! Her nickname was 'Tiny'...I think some 'other' issues caused her career to get sidetracked... I don't know if I'm way off...but that's who I think it is?

No offense taken...yes, I was fortunate enough to win two State AAA titles in the early 80's, and rings were never brought up. Maybe I'm just getting old. I don't have a real strong opinion on this, it just strikes me as a little unnecessary. I guess it's a neat piece of memorabilia to hang onto and show your grandkids...but the stories, the photos, press clippings, etc are more valuable to me.

It's tough to argue the number one....but I thought the thread was simply "9th region memory lane"....anyway, relative to stats only...she did have an extra season or two and a three point line.... and, ladies like the two I mentioned didn't even get to use the gym until the boys felt like giving it to them...these girls could play. It would be interesting to see their talent in the same circumstance as some of the younger great ones...just a happy memory...that's all!

I have no idea what ST H has this year..they are always well coached and dangerous in the underdog roll...don't panic if these Colonels take some bad hits...(not saying this will be one), but I think they are as talented and deep as last year, maybe a little more; they simply look like they're getting used to a new dance partner at this point. With that said, let's say CCH by 13.

Am I alone with the thought that rings are just silly? Maybe I'm just getting old, but do these kids really care about a ring? I can see a Super Bowl ring, a World Series ring...those are valuable pieces of jewelry in addition to being very unique, universally recognized memorabilia. The memories, the photos, the films, the banners at the high school, the inter-school legend of being on the "06 State Team", and the stories that will be told, and retold and retold are more than enough.

Agreed. I would add that you can't place a enough value on good senior leadership. The jrs and sohps are talented, but you can see the lack of senior confidence out there imo. TJ has it all on him right now. I think we will see the younger kids really bloom when they return. Another observation: Billy's absence is felt more on the defensive end, imo, their matchups are a little off with him gone...

I've never heard the college line...did hear that his son is getting ready to go to Bacon, has roots there and has always stated that would be a school he would want if it became available...(which it did)....but, as stated so eloquently by HS...what do I know? I hope it's not true...

It's a little confusing...or at least, week to week. The good news is it's not season ending and at this point, no surgery/scope...they are saying 4 to 6 weeks (we're already one into it)...but, it depends upon the progress, which means it could be sooner, could be longer. As I understand it, it all has to heal on its own with ice/therapy. Very minor tears to the ACL and the Maniscus (sp?), and a small fracture in there to boot. Obviously we are all praying for the best. If anybody has a better explanation, please share.

Don't know about Holmes except BGP posts; but I don't think Spritzky is upset about....in fact, I think he was very positive about it?

Ryle was one of two teams still playing in their division this week. They had a great year and deserve to be very proud of the hard work they put into it. It has been in the making for more than one year, and they have taken another huge step forward this season. As a fellow NKY fan, outside the Ryle community, I rooted hard for them and I am very proud of what they have accomplished in such a short period of time! There are some very good programs that took decades to get to the point Ryle has...expecting to be successful is something that supercedes a lot of the other variables...getting to the point where you expect to win and are willing to work to accomplish it repeatedly is something Ryle has now earned the right to do and I look forward to continued success for years to come. Congratulations!

Thank you for keeping it polite...Using your example, Cov Cath started football in 1967 or so, until 1982 or so, they were annually the laughing stock. Okay, that's a little harsh, but check it out...they were far short of a football powerhouse. Since that time, I think they have won 6 or 7 titles, and the first was in 87 I think...so it took 20 years for them to build their advantage. I am just saying that the winds of change never stop, unless we stop working and give up. The way Boone Co and Union are growing, and with a continued committment to improvement like the one they displayed these past couple, it's a matter of time before they're on the other end of this discussion...unless we tell the kids they're not good enough.

You have just made my point...keep telling yourself you don't have a chance and you will be correct. Fortunately, I believe (hope) the leadership at Ryle is telling their kids a different story about how their hard work got them into the state finals! And, more hard work will win it for them eventually! The schools to whom you refer, along with a few other annually competitive schools, thrive on playing at the highest level they can find, win or lose, they take it and build on it...please tell your kids that story, for their sake! Now, just for kicks and in an effort to exercise your new attitude, say something nice for the kids at T who have been standing on the sidelines since they were 6, waiting for their time to shine. The advantage is not in numbers or anything else, I am convinced that the difference is that schools like T, X, CCH, Highland, Beechwood, Male, etc is that from the time these kids can walk, they are told they are winners no matter the odds! That's an advantage I want for my kid!

It is not meant to be at all. I don't buy the unfair thing. I don't buy the advantage thing, at least in the context of p v p. The numbers are being addressed with classification changes. Schools like T have a well earned "advantage" in that years of success attract kids who want to committ to the same thing...like other schools in the state (HHS, Beechwood, etc, etc) Ryle can/will have that, it just isn't going to happen as quickly as some would like. I am proud of Ryle and believe they are on their way. I am also genuinely happy for the kids and the T community. If one feels that the size of the schools is out of wack, or some other complaint needs attention; address it in a different context than this one....imo

I'll just stick to congratulating a tradition rich football school with decades of hard work under thier belts. I was genuinely rooting for Ryle, but they're not there yet...great season Raiders, nothing to be ashamed of! Keep moving forward, it's a matter of time! Water runs down hill to the deepest reservoir...so it is with success and successful people....it takes time.

Saw him play in CCH scrimmage...he is very, very good; but he is not DI imo.

I was just corrected: Saw Doc today...he believes it is a sprained M C L; the MRI is not until tomorrow morning. That will confirm the extent of the inury...sorry
