June Buchanan (JBS) 64 Hazard 55
I agree that team ball is the way to win and when JBS does that they have a really nice team. This game was a huge confidence builder for a young JBS team that doesnt start any seniors.

Bell County 82 Perry Central 53
They play June Buchanan in the finals tonight...Should be a good one.

Scott County 73 Mason County 68
Good showing from Mason against a good Scott team. I actually thought this would be a 10 point game. Miller is tough and I hope he goes to UK...

Spurlock is one of the best coaches in East Ky...IMO

June Buchanan (JBS) 64 Hazard 55
JBS was just too much for Hazard at all facets of the game. Collins and Short controlled the inside and Stepp and Cox had good games from the outside. JBS had a bad night from the line and had too many turnovers but played good team ball. JBS is hard to beat if they get all their kids involved in the game. Collins got MVP of the game with 13 points 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Short had 9 points and 12 rebounds and Stepp had 24 and Cox 15. Good overall effort from both teams with Hicks getting 27 for Hazard. He is impossible to stop. Good luck to both teams this year....

Dakota Euton
With a cool name like he has why would you give him a nickname?

Knott Central 59 Cordia 54
I have thought all year that Cordia is better than their record shows. They have a good team and good coach. Good luck this year......

Officials Taking Over Ballgames
This issue is like all other things in life that there are good and bad in everything. I think that 95% of all referees go out and try to call the best game possible and wouldnt cheat the kids for anything. I have caught myself in the past screaming at officials at games and when you get home you realize how stupid you must have looked. Have you ever noticed that if you go to a game that you have no interest in that it seems the refs do a better job than the fans of those respective teams do. Boy it sure would hard to play a game without them wouldnt it.

Tate Cox From JBS(one of the Best Freshmen in State)
I think the point most people are missing with this is that there are not alot of 14 year old freshman...

Tate Cox From JBS(one of the Best Freshmen in State)
I am not sure about other parts of the state but in Eastern Ky kids are held back on a large scale. There have been many post on BGP about this over the last year but it is what it is....I bet if people checked it is more common everywhere across the state than you think... I remember this kid when he was 14 and he was special then also...

Hazard/JBS Predictions @WYMT classic
I think your statement to those who dont know who those three teams are. 1. Mason County who hit a last second three to win the game. 2. Lexington Catholic 3. Trinity All three are top 15 teams in the state. THis might shine a little more light to those who didnt know who the three were.

Hazard 56 Shelby Valley 48
The biggest problem that SV has is lack of experience and that will come with time and they will be a fine ballclub....

Bell 48 Leslie 45
I was surprised that Bell had that much trouble with Leslie. If they play like that against Perry they will be in trouble. Did the big kid that left hurt them that much?

PCC 80 Pikeville 70
I was surprised of the small crowd that Pikeville had. If they are going to get serious about basketball there they need to show better support..IMO

Hazard/JBS Predictions @WYMT classic
I think JBS has by far the most talent in the region but you are right they dont use all of it. Collins and Short would dominate the inside if they would just use them more. No one in the region has the size of JBS and hopefully they will figure that out. JBS must naturally contain Hicks because he is a great player but if they do Hazard has to have some kids step up. If JBS does decide to use their big men in this one I dont think Hazard has the guys that could stop them. I guess we will have to wait and see if they do...

PCC 80 Pikeville 70
The big kid from Pikeville has improved alot this year and Pikeville is much better than when I watched them last year. Pikeville forced too many bad shots in the 4th quarter when the game was close. Bailey and Kelly played well late in the game for Perry and I think experience was the difference. It probably also helped that Perry was playing on their home floor. Good game overall though.

Tate Cox From JBS(one of the Best Freshmen in State)
South Carolina has inquired about him to some people in the 14th. He is about 5'10" right now and will probably grow a little but with this kid size will not matter. I am not sure at what level he will play but IMO he is a special player. I also heard that Tubby was bragging about him in the 5th/3rd...

Hazard/JBS Predictions @WYMT classic
JBS by 10 in this one. Too much size and outside shooting for Hazard. Hicks is a great player and if he is on it could be closer. Should be fun to watch.

Russell 51 East Carter 27
I watched the Vanhoose kid play this year and was very impressed with him. They need to rest his knee if he is having problems with it. I think Russell has a real good shot to win the 16th if Vanhoose stays healthy.

Tate Cox From JBS(one of the Best Freshmen in State)
Tate is a great player and great kid. He goes out and gets the job done every game. One factor with him is that some people say his size may hurt him in college. My answer to that would be is that how many people would like to have a Travis Ford type player on their team. I think Tate will want to play at a school where he could play rather than set on a bench even if it is a smaller school. The main thing to remember about him is he is good enough to play for some colleges now how good will he be later...

Pikeville @ Perry Central
I think the teams are pretty close in talent but Perry Central has home court advantage in this one. PCC by 6...

June Buchanan 77 Pineville 51
June Buchanan has too much size for Hazard inside and if the Stepp kids and Cox are hitting outside it could be a long night for Hazard. It could be a closer game than I think because of the regional factor but I'll say June Buchanan by 10....
