It will be another classic. I am going to pick somerset by 1 in double overtime. This very well could be a preview of the Regional championship game.

Coach Lee was the coach of the team that went to the state tournament in 1980. As a kid I remember there was a time when Franklin Co was ranked #1 in the State and Frankfort High was ranked #3. Then they built Western Hills and the rest is history.

For those of you who do not know, here is a bit of useless information. I did not know this until a couple of years ago. The term "upset" derived from a horse race ( maybe the KY derby) in which a horse named Upset beat a heavily favored horse. The word has been used ever since when the underdog wins a contest.

Shue if we were in court you would win this argument on wheter this was an upset or not. But I considered it a mild upset. I know that Wayne had beaten McCreary twice, I know that Wayne was the 2 seed and McCreary the 3 seed. But most people in this area still think McCreary had the most talent, and would win the game last night. If you look at the season records and how they fared against common opponents, and Lex. Hearld ratings, it could be considered an upset.

. I thought McCreary got every loose ball tonight for 3 1/2 Quarters. Watts had an off night offensively but he shut down the point guard from Wayne. Pardon the pun but it wasn't in the "Cards" for McCreary to win tonight The last 4 minutes of regulation and in overtime Wayne got every break. (loose balls, and a couple of calls or no calls) And Waynes kids stepped up made plays at the end. I respect both coaches. People are bashing Jones for his coaching but in reality if he won the game people would be praising him and bashing Coach Woods for not having his team fouling earlier. McCreary had an 8 point lead or so with about 4 minutes to go and ran off two minutes from the clock. It seems there was a timeout and then McCreary had two strait turnovers that led to easy Wayne baskets. I do not think Coach Jones told his players to turn the ball over in that time out. ( If he did then he is a bad coach) McCreary then had what appeared to be a wide open layup and a Wayne player came out of no where to block the shot and Wayne ended up with the ball again. If that kid hits the shot it would have been game over McCreary wins. As stated in earlier posts Watts and Bartley both missed FT with the game on the line. If they make those its game over McCreary wins. ( Once again if Jones told those two players to miss the FT's then you all are correct he is a bad coach.) Coach Jones called a time out to freeze the 8th grader on a FT. The kid came out and clanked it. That was some pretty good coaching on Jones part. If McCreary had not had those two turnovers and had hit their FT , made the layup that was blocked, then we would be sitting here questioning why Coach Woods let McCreary take two minutes off the clock down by 8 points, and how Coach Jones out coached him. Wayne Co. kids made the plays down the stretch and earned the victory. Congratulations to them. On a side note If it had gone 22 more overtimes I think McCreary would have won by 3

I am glad for Coach Thacker and the players. I really thought this would be a closer game than this. Somerset is playing well right now and will be a tough out in the 12th. Fridays "battle for the nets" should be a classic. Whats the story on Molen?

I cannot wait for this matchup. I think McCreary wins 178-175 on a half court buzzer beater at the end of the 23rd overtime. McCreary fans go home happy at 1:30 in the morning. :sleep: Game notes: Coach Jones and Coach Woods both get ejected for fighting before the game ever starts.:argue: ( they both claimed to be the father of Anna's baby in the pregame conference) So SSF has to coach McCreary, and Jesse James has to coach Wayne. The refs cramp up from exhaustion in the 14th overtime :sssh: and Chris Tilley:devil: has to come down off of the stage to finish refing the game by himself.:eek: and he throws Noel Hargis out of the gym for complaining about one of his calls.:ylsuper: It is announced at halftime that Tubby Smith will get a lifetime contract to coach at UK as long as he hires Doug Eads to be his top assistant and can talk Coach Woods into replacing Keightly as the equiptment manager.

To go on a 10 point run to end the game shows that EJ was a determined team that earned the win. Good luck to them Friday Night. It should be a classic.

#20 was a hoss. If I was the head coach that trainer would have needed a trainer.:creepy: :fight: Just kidding, he was probably doing what was in the best interest of the kid. ( that or perhaps they were an EJ allumni)

:thumb: I think he should be coach of the year for all he has been delt this year. Sometimes its not about wins and losses but overcomming adversity. I respect him and the job he has done over there.

The score was tied with about 1:30 to go. Pc ran the clock down and took a shot with 12 seconds that missed. Cory Dixson got called for over the back on the rebound. Rock went to the line and missed the FT that would have given them the lead. Pc got the rebound pushed the ball up court and Caleb Rowe hit the game winner. PC pushed the lead to 10 -12 a few times early in the game but Rock would not go away. They kept fighting their way back into it.

I know there are no such things as moral victories but Rockcastle played with tremendous Heart, and have nothing to be ashamed of. Congratulations to PC. Players make plays and Rowe made one for the maroons.

I called him a coward, because if I called him what I really thought he was I would be breaking several BGP rules.( language not appropriate for a four year old) I think he was cowardly to overstep his authority and hide behind his whistle. This official is a Barny Fife want to be.. that was lazy...used bad judgement...and was on a power trip. ..... There was a fan that had watched 3 quarters of basketball and not said one word to an official all night. Half way through the 3rd quarter the official missed a call and it was obvious he missed it. There was 50 people that BOOED , said your crazy, You've got to be kidding.... my friend said " that was a horrible call" and he was ask to leave the gym.

I will say this and be quiet: I am glad Refs do not access technicals to the teams for the fans behavior. It has been several years since I have seen this done. As a matter of fact it was in the middle 80's since I seen this happen. You shouldn't punish the team for the fans conduct.
