Where is there a list of the II and III teams?

Looks like that is just the AAA list. There should be selections for AA and A as well. I believe top 6 vote getters on 1st team, next 6 on 2nd team and not sure about honorable mention. I believe each school nominates 4 but not all nominees are selected to a team. Where did you get the list?

I was probably 1100' away and I thought it was questionable that the ball was caught. Smith may have gotten his hands under the ball but I know it was close and was glad it was ruled a catch. The defender should have left the player alone because he was on his knees. The bad decision to reach down cost him 15 yards because he ended up in his grill. I certainly didn't think it was intentional but it did twist his helmet around and the PF was the right call. Not flagrant, just bad luck or bad decision.

There's a huge difference between a "blown call" and missapplying rules. By missapplying the rules, it put Mayfield ahead by more than the 3 points awarded for a successful field goal. So it did effect the speculative field goals, by rendering them inconsequential.

And if called correctly, Mayfield scored only 10. The NCC kicker has range of 50+ yards so the call could have made a difference. It was a great game played by 2 very equally talented teams. There should never be this type of issue to debate. It's a rules question, not a missed judgment call. Improperly administering rules, should NEVER happen in a state championship game. Rules knowledge is a basic qualification for officiating at any level.

Thanks for the stats and it appears the turnovers are the major determining factor. However, Newport lost in the first round to Walton Verona.

This thread was not designed to indicate this call cost NCC the game. And everyone on here readily agrees that it very well may not have changed the outcome. However, those that think if the "boneheaded call" making it 14-0 would have been called correctly keeping the game at 7-0 with NCC ball at the 20, would have had no impact on the momentum or outcome of the game itself, are simply displaying bias. Is the next NCC drive when they scored? If so, the score being 7-7 in the 3rd quarter would certainly have changed some of the variables.

This is ridiculous! The lack of rules knowledge amongst officials is appalling. How does this happen in a state playoff game, much less a state final? the assignors for these games are also accountable.

I think the NCC defense is being drastically undervalued. Their offense has struggled to sustain drives in games this year leaving the defense on the field a majority of the time. The run defense is very good between the tackles and they pursue very well from the linebacker spot. The lone Danville score came from a short field on a muffed punt. The first Danville drive was a good drive but the drive in the waning moments of the game was against a very soft prevent defense that yielded significant "underneath" passing yards. Other than that, Danville struggled to drive the ball, and they are fast! If the Breds can manage to move the ball and not play from bad field position all game long, I don't see Mayfield scoring anywhere near 41 points. However, I'm not sure how NCC's offense will fare against the Cardinals defense.

So the yelling and profanity from the stands has had what effect on play calling? It's embarrassing to the school, football program and fans. A police officer needed to address the situation Friday night. I police officer with a son on the team. It's rediculous and uncalled for!

I believe the Maroons were at David Cecil Stadium taking care of the Birds. I agree, Morons might be a better description.

Are they in the 2A east? I don't ever remember running across them on our way to the state championship games.

I understand your question and concede that NCC didn't do much with the opportunities they've had against the challenging schedule. But just playing a strong schedule allows a team to identify their weaknesses and then devote practice time to addressing them. If you play a soft schedule, these shortcomings may not be identified and addressed. Other than the Boyle County game, Danville hasn't been even remotely challenged. You just don't know if that is because they are so strong or the competition is so bad. Sometimes you can't tell until you get to this point in the season. The one game on Danville's schedule that stands tall to me is the shutout of a Corbin team that is still playing and played Mayfield pretty closely. I may not put a lot of creedence in the 9 week romp the Ads have just finished, but this is a convincing win over a perennially strong program. When two good teams meet this late in the year, it comes down to matchups and which team can exploit them. The wild card being turnovers and of course stupid penalties.

Speed is always relative to your opponent. I'm not saying Danville isn't fast, and they may run circles around the Breds, but who have they played that would be a good judge of team speed?

Lloyd turned the ball over 3 times in the 1st Q which dug them a huge hole. They still failed to score in the remaining 3 Q. NCC defense manhandled them in a game where they could have played a soft defense. If Smith is 100% next week, I don't think they are clear underdogs. You're using statements like that to support your displeasure with the Juggs coaching.

This was not a game that required an aggressive passing game.
