14th region champs
mountainwarrior replied to sixtyfeetsix's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
lee is a very good team, capable of beating anybody in the region on any given night they have good balance and great depth. they will be there in march, giving teams fits -
ronnie thepopular what games have you seen that gilbert padded his stats against the younger players, It might've appened but it sure hasnt happened against any team in the region, and his best games have come in close ones where each teams best palyers were on the court til the end, i havent seen him pad the stats and ARC made a good point fetters did block a few of gilberts shots I think 2 or 3 but he couldnt contain him as was evident when gilbert scored at will against him in the first quarter, I think Gilbert is content to let his teammates have their try because e knows to have a chance in march he is going to need their help

14th Region Weak?
mountainwarrior replied to RonnieThePopular's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
i dont think the region is weak i think that the teams are off to a slow start i mean some of our lower 14th region teams have played well against middle and high ranked teams from other regions, granted there are no super powerhouses this year but the talent is still there just not all compiled on one team or in one city, talent is spread this season from Hazard to Booneville, and everyone will start to realize that the region is still strong. I dont think we should put the kids down and all them weak when they go out and give it there all everynight, Strong is giving it your all when you have nothing less to give -

Buckhorn is looking ot make some noise in the region it seems like -
A great game to watch, was much better game than the final score indicates, Wolfe was able to keep it around 8- 12 points but just died down late in the game , congrats to a very good Lee Co team, the twins played very good tonight and I was impressed with their team as a whole, Lee is going to make a splash in the region this yea and teams had better be ready

Gilbert seemed to get tired after the first quarter. Gilbert more than likely got tired because he was sick, I heard from some of the players that he was puking at halftime, but I dont want to take anything away from Lee Co., they did a great job on him, making him work for everything he got but anybody who is throwing up is more than likely going to get tired, As for the Lee Co. fans getting into his head, I am pretty sure that that didnt happen since he takes more crap from other teams than almost anybody considering he is one of the best in the region, I would almost bet that his airballs had more to do with fatigue than fans

14th Region (ratings) Top to Bottom
mountainwarrior replied to RoundLeather's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Letcher isnt performing like the third best team i the region right now I think they are in a spot that suits them -
ok i guess I was wrong then I am sorry Howard gets my vote for player of the year

Russell 62 Letcher Co. Central 47

LCC has really struggled here lately making me wonder if their early success came from riding the wave of being a new school and the excitement that comes with it, has the excitement worn off -
are you sure you watched the same game as I did, Scott's coach is a smart man and he knew that gilbert was the only player on wolfe's team, he was double multiple times and anytime he touched it all of scotts focus was on him and can you blame them no one else on wolfe can score, they are not very good right now
-
scott co has to be in the top five many people might not agre but I have seen them play and most teams in the state would have trouble matching up with them, plus they have one of the best coaches in the state, which gives them an edge

Lex Cath 67 Leslie 54
mountainwarrior replied to dominator_58's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
yan you almost have to pick your poison with Leslie, they have too very talented players and if you try and stop one the other one will hurt you, that is what makes them so good in the 14th region, because schools in our area struggle to come up with two talented players on the same team, Leslie is off to a slow start utthings will defenitly only get better -
Leslie Co 52 Henderson 50

any stats on the tournament for leslie -
he scored 8 in the fourth so from the sounds of it he would've had around 20 on the first team, how many did howard have, plus i wouldnt be to happy to havea great game on wolfe, they are a bottom feeder team right now, but to score 20 on constant double teams is pretty impressive, but I do agree with you and I will give credit it where credit is do, The Big kid Howard was a load, a good big man with good footwork, he is a player

mountainwarrior replied to RoundLeather's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
sounds pretty good to me but I think with the way they are laying right now Lee might just be the number 1 or 2 team in the region, but we will have to see -
from the sound of it wolfe gave scott a better game than frankfort, just curious ow many points did Gilbert have for wolfe because it seemed to me that he was a force, wolfe's only force scoring on constant double teams
-
Morgan Co 56 West Carter 42
mountainwarrior replied to nerf's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Morgan seems to be rolling. Got to be considered one of the best teams in the mountains. What does Nets have to say about the game? He always has good stats and evaluations. -
Owsley County 67 Wolfe County 63
mountainwarrior replied to The Professor's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Gilbert actually had 26 but anyways Owsley did a great team effort to hold him to that few, he also had an off shooting night which can happen to anyone, but overall he still played decent with around 15 boards and probabably 8 or so assists. If his teammates could fininsh he would've had 15. With Owsley concentrating on him, he did a good job of passing and hitting his guys right under the basket they just couldnt put the ball in the hole. Also I have to say that if Daniel Neely is not the top one or two shooters in the region he is definetly top 3 or 4 he is an outstanding player and he played great tonight he is defiently underrated. BIG win for the Owls, always good to get that first one under the belt and they will be a team to watch in the future. Good Job Owls -
14th Region All A Classic Predictions
mountainwarrior replied to LeeCoBobcatFan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Dont count Wolfe out; Stamper will be eligible by then and will provide some instant offensive help for Gilbert the wolves should become drastcially better Stamper joins the team as long as they all gel. Also Robert Smith will make Owsley a contender This years All A should be a great one ; with no clear cut favorite but a few taht have the edge right now the 14th region all a should be a week of great games
