Shining Star Sports-McFarland (16u) won their first pool game at the Super Showcase Event in Orlando Florida. They beat Cecil Kirk in their opening game. I will pass on additional information when I get it. They play again at 1pm against Nike's Louisiana Select.

Someone for the players let us know where the KY Players are for the rest of the summer. Have not heard them mentioned lately. Give us an updated.

Vance Hall is a player! He has done very well for the Shining Star Sports program. He is in Orlando playing in the Super Showcase and AAU Nationals over the next two weeks.

I think that it would be very cool to see the 2010 class in Northern Kentucky play together at some point. This is one of the stronger classes Northern Kentucky has had in a long time. I think that you could put a really nice roster together. Sounds like the Kentucky teams are all playing very well and representing very well.

This team wins because of Ryan Fucci. Without Ryan Fucci they are a very average team.

Jake Geisler has a great opportunity to step up and be a varsity contributor. At 6'5" he has the ability to play the post and he can also step out and stroke the 3 point shot. Jake is going to be a force over the next couple of years.

I had the opportunity to watch the Derek Smith team a couple of times this week. The twins from Elliot are amazing and very fun to watch. They are like a pair of energyzer bunnies. They play hard and push their team to follow their lead. Great players!! Their energy is amazing!! Do they ever get tired?

A couple of young players that represented very well at the Adidas Take 5 for the Shining Star Sports program. Scott Schuette of Lexington Catholic had a fantastic tournament. He is one of the better scorers in his class. Scott is only going to get better as he gets stronger. Great shooter and scorer with good ball skills. When he figures out the defensive end he will become a dominant player. Neal Pawsatt of Mason County played was very impressive. Neal can do a little bit of everything on the court. He has played the point at times and the post at others. Very flexible player and a great leader. Luke King of Deming. He took over at times for the Shining Star team. Luke was very aggressive and played very well for the entire tournament.

Vee Sanford will be back on Monday. He had a prior committment that kept him from attending the games today. Congrats to Derek Smith on their victory they have a great group of kids.

I noticed that the KY Players were playing in the 15u division. I didn't know that the KY Players had a 15u team. Who is on the 15u team???

Garnett was never granted an interview.

Timmy Sullivan has been choosen to be the first head coach at Cooper High School.

Just found out that the Charlotte Court pulled all of their teams out of the state tourney. Not sure why. Does anyone have any info?

The 16u class in Kentucky is loaded!! That is a very impressive list of players that will be competing this weekend. Is that the deepest class in Kentucky? Does anyone think that this is not the strongest class?

I am pretty sure that I read the same thing last year, and the year before!!

I believe that one of the Shining Star teams already beat the Derek Smith team in Cincinnati earlier in the year. In that tournament both Derek Smith teams (17u and 16u) were eliminated by Shining Star teams.

I don't beleive they are the most talented team. I think the Shining Star-Stowers team has a better first five. 1. Russ Middleton 2. Vee Sanford 3. Steven McFarland 4. Cam Clemons 5. Garrison Collins Big mismatch at the guard position. Faulkners can't match up with Middleton and Sanford. McFarland is one of the best at his position and will be a problem for the DS team as well. I do like the Donovon and Phares combo. But not enough to pick them over the Shining Star Sports-Stowers team.

I will take my chances that Shining Star, Derek Smith and Charlotte Court will be the three teams competing for the crown. I think that any of these three teams are capable of winning the tournament. I think the rest of the field is good but not good enough.

Very good team made up of Northern Kentucky kids. Kyle McCord who played at Scott High School and who now plays at Mt. Saint Joe is the head coach of the team.

They will be at full strength this weekend. I would take my chances with that roster.
