Zeke Pike will probably be the best freshman in Northern Kentucky. Very talented and very athletic. I am guessing he will get some good varsity minutes for Dixie.

He played some 4 with his AAU team because he was playing with some great guards. At times he was playing with Russ Middleton, Vee Sanford and Cam Clemons. He had to play the four in that lineup. Boone doesn't have that type of talent to push him to the four. Boone played three guards last year and shot a ton of three's. That got them eliminated in the first round of the district tournament for the third straight year. Steven McFarland is the best player on the team. He has very good talent surrounding him. They have four top players with Gabbard, Popp, McFarland and Earls.

I think it will be fun to watch these kids play this year. If Timmy can step up and play a significant role it will possibly help Elliot County win a state championship. At this point we will agree to disagree. I look forward to getting a chance to see him play this year. Good luck to Timmy and the Elliot County team!!

Steven played point guard as a freshman and logged minutes at the varsity level and started JV at the point. He has good ball skills and an amazing ability to pass the basketball. Steven played the 4 last year and was stuck in the lane in the offenses that Boone ran. Steven's strength is not scoring with his back to the basket, although he is an above average rebounder. He needs to be able to step to the perimeter and create opportunities for himself and his team. Steven needs to be playing the 3 and have the ball in his hands more often.

Covington Catholic is going to have to rebuild. They are not ready to compete for a region championship. They lost 6 very good seniors and one of their best juniors. Loosing your top 7 players is not easy to recover from. Coach L will do a good job but does not have the talent to compete this year.

Could not disagree more!! At no point did he show that he is a Division I player. He was not much of a factor at the high school level. What did his numbers look like at Elliot?

Zach "Big Country" Isler is a tough SOB!! If at all possible he will be ready!!

Steven McFarland is a top five player in this region. He is going away to play at Georgetown College and will have a very nice college career. Steven is being mis-used at Boone County. He has not been allowed to be a top player in the region. Hopefully this year he will be allowed to lead Boone County and let them compete at a higher level.

Timmy Knipp should not be mentioned on this list. Average player at best. You would think that playing with the Faulkners he would play with passion and give great effort but I don't see that with him. He has the physical tools but I am not sure that he can be a special player. He is not in the same class as Zollo, Stenzel, Kimbro, Barksdale, Fant and Shanklin. The Faulkners and Ferguson should be on everyone's list. There are not to many players that play with the intensity, intellegence, and confidence that these three guys play with. Amazing players!!

If I read correctly it looks like Isler will not be available to start the year. There is no way that this team can put Counts, Wellbrock and Isler on the floor together and guard anyone in this region. I like Counts but he is not a three. The reason that I mention Trevor Sorrell is because he has the ability to shoot the three and put the ball in the basket. With Isler, Mailey and Klein not being available you don't have a lot of options.

I was told yesterday that they hooked him up at a Junior College in Iowa. Arrez reported but only stayed a couple of days before returning home.

Kowolonek started most of the varsity season last year. He was Highlands third best player behind two of the regions top players (Simpson and McGraw). Kowolonek had a fantastic summer with the Shining Star Sports-McFarland team. He is a big time player. Kowolonek is one of the top players in the ninth region.

The individual that you can compare it to is Austin Hill. Austin was being recruited by a number of Division I schools but was unable to reach the academic levels that he needed to get admitted. Does anyone have any updates on Austin Hill and how he did this past year at school? I hope that he is doing well and will get a chance to earn his degree!

I am guessing that if he could not get in at Tech that he would not have been able to get into NKU either. He had to go the JUCO route to be able to attend school. It is a shame that his academics were not in order.

It is such a shame that they have four players on their roster that are mentioned as top players in the region but yet can't even advance to the regional tournament. (Earls, McFarland, Gabbard and Popp) How can you not win a district tournament game with this type of talent?

I was told today that Arrez Henderson was unable to get into Louisiana Tech and is now enrolled at Cincinnati State. Anyone have information?

The biggest problem they have is that they are pulling kids mainly away from Conner. The talent pool is not very good. I would be suprised if they compete for a district championship in the first five years of competition. Patience is going to be tested with the Cooper staff.

He signed a letter of intent to play at Georgetown College. I look for him to have a very good senior year without the pressure of playing for a college scholorship.

I think that the biggest problem they will have this year is at the point guard position. Mitch Shover is their best point guard but also their best scorer. How this team responds when Mitch is taken away will be interesting. I know that last year when Bondick went down teams decided to double Mitch more often and the team struggled. Who will be the second option and be able to step up and take pressure off of Mitch?

I ran into Travis the other day and he looks pretty good. Claims that he has been in the weight room on the regular basis. I hope that to be true. He looks like he has grown a little. Not sure how tall he is now. Travis has a great skill set but strength has been his biggest obstacle. If he can get stronger it will help him develop as a player.

I think that Trevan will be the first player off the bench. Steven McFarland, Ryan Popp, Mike Gabbard and Andy Earls have secured starting positions. Who will be the fifth starter? How in the world has this team not made a run in the region? You have four potential college players and this team hasn't won a district tourney game the last two years. Wow!!

I am interested to know how they are deep at the forward position. I love their guards with Gabbard and Popp but thought they were weak at the forward position last year. They played four guards at times. Krohman and Brown have graduated, Flannery left, heard that the younger Brown will not be playing basketball. Who does that leave at the forward position?
